Horror Collector now has an exact Japanese premiere date. The anime will debut on October 10, 2026, a Saturday, at 11:45 p.m. on NHK General. The September 18 announcement also confirmed a 12-episode run, revealed the main cast, unveiled a new visual and released a teaser featuring a preview of the opening song “Kageboshi” by Shikao Suga.

What the new teaser confirmed

The biggest update is that the broad October window has become a specific date and time. According to the anime announcement reported by Crunchyroll News, the series begins on October 10. In Japan, regular broadcasts are scheduled for Saturdays from 11:45 p.m. to 12:10 a.m. on NHK General. The announcement also states that the season will run for 12 episodes and that NHK ONE is scheduled to offer simultaneous streaming and replay viewing.

The teaser is listed on the official video page with the notice that the broadcast date and main cast have been set. Along with presenting the adaptation's horror and pursuit-driven atmosphere, the video uses part of “Kageboshi”, the opening theme written and performed by Shikao Suga.

Who is in the main Horror Collector cast

Four central characters now have confirmed voice actors. The official staff and cast page lists:

  • Fushigi Senno: Hiiro Ishibashi. He is the red-hooded boy who travels in pursuit of manifested urban legends and uses a red notebook to collect them.
  • Jimmy: Jun Fukuyama. He is the human-faced dog who travels with Fushigi. Jimmy wears a yellow raincoat and serves as the protagonist's partner.
  • Himitsu: Saori Hayami. She is the mysterious girl associated with rumors of a “faceless child” and has the ability to bring urban legends into physical form.
  • Blue Umbrella Man: Nobuhiko Okamoto. He is a young man who travels with Himitsu, although his motive remains unexplained in the promotional material.

These four casting choices define the core relationship of the series: Fushigi tries to collect supernatural phenomena that have taken shape, Jimmy travels beside him, Himitsu is connected to the manifestation of the legends, and the Blue Umbrella Man follows her for reasons that have not yet been revealed.

What is the anime about

Horror Collector is set in a world where urban legends once dismissed as rumors begin to become real. Fushigi moves from place to place to collect these manifestations in his notebook. His larger goal is to reach Himitsu, the girl who can materialize urban legends. Along the way, he confronts supernatural incidents with Jimmy.

This structure can combine relatively self-contained horror cases with an ongoing chase between Fushigi and Himitsu. The official character material also indicates that many characters involved in each incident can change from story to story, while Fushigi, Jimmy, Himitsu and the Blue Umbrella Man provide the continuing narrative thread.

Who is producing Horror Collector

The September update also completed the main production lineup. Yuki Inaba directs the anime and handles series composition. Kaori Yoshikawa is the character designer, Masato Koda composes the music and Tetsuya Gunji serves as sound director. Animation production is by Studio Palette. NHK Enterprises is credited for production, with NHK credited for production and copyright.

The anime adapts the book series created by Midori Sato and Norio Tsuruta, with original character concepts by Yon. The books are published under Kadokawa Tsubasa Bunko and the series has surpassed 1 million copies in circulation, according to editorial material from Kadokawa.

What is confirmed about the music

Shikao Suga had already been announced as the artist responsible for both the opening and ending songs. The September 18 update added a more specific detail: the opening is titled “Kageboshi”, and part of it can be heard in the teaser. The official July announcement confirms that Suga wrote two songs for the project, one for the opening and one for the ending.

As of the materials reviewed on September 18, the title of the ending song is not identified on the official pages checked. The artist and songwriter are therefore confirmed, but the name of the second track remains unannounced.

What has not been confirmed yet

The latest announcement fills in most of the premiere information, but several important points remain open for viewers outside Japan.

  • International streaming: the official sources reviewed confirm NHK ONE, but they do not announce a global platform or a specific simulcast for Brazil, Latin America or other international markets.
  • International subtitles and dubs: no languages or markets outside Japan have been confirmed.
  • Ending song title: Shikao Suga is confirmed for the ending theme, but the song title has not been published on the official pages reviewed.
  • Cast beyond the central group: the four main names are confirmed, while characters tied to individual cases and additional guest roles may still be announced.
  • Episode list: the 12-episode total is confirmed, but individual episode titles and synopses have not been published in the material reviewed.

When and where Horror Collector premieres

In Japan, Horror Collector premieres October 10, 2026 at 11:45 p.m. on NHK General. The announced Saturday slot runs from 11:45 p.m. to 12:10 a.m. NHK ONE is listed for simultaneous streaming and replay. Because international availability has not yet been detailed, viewers outside Japan should distinguish the confirmed Japanese premiere from any global licensing announcement that may come closer to release.
