The Cultura na Calçada program begins in Fortaleza on September 25, 2026 and runs through December 12, with 156 artists, groups and collectives selected to circulate across the city's 12 Regional districts. The schedule is divided into three cycles, always on Fridays and Saturdays. For anyone planning to attend, the key is to separate two pieces of information: each cycle's calendar is already confirmed, but the municipal notice published on September 9 does not yet assign every act to a specific time and address.
Cultura na Calçada calendar by Regional district
The City Hall grouped four Regional districts into each cycle. The dates below are the official dates for each cycle; they do not, by themselves, mean that all four Regional districts will have programming on all six dates. The match between act, day, time and address should be confirmed in the latest detailed schedule once it is published.
| Regional district | Cycle | Confirmed dates for the cycle |
|---|---|---|
| Regional 1 | Cycle 2 | October 23, 24, 30 and 31; November 6 and 7 |
| Regional 2 | Cycle 3 | November 27 and 28; December 4, 5, 11 and 12 |
| Regional 3 | Cycle 2 | October 23, 24, 30 and 31; November 6 and 7 |
| Regional 4 | Cycle 1 | September 25 and 26; October 2, 3, 9 and 10 |
| Regional 5 | Cycle 1 | September 25 and 26; October 2, 3, 9 and 10 |
| Regional 6 | Cycle 3 | November 27 and 28; December 4, 5, 11 and 12 |
| Regional 7 | Cycle 3 | November 27 and 28; December 4, 5, 11 and 12 |
| Regional 8 | Cycle 1 | September 25 and 26; October 2, 3, 9 and 10 |
| Regional 9 | Cycle 3 | November 27 and 28; December 4, 5, 11 and 12 |
| Regional 10 | Cycle 1 | September 25 and 26; October 2, 3, 9 and 10 |
| Regional 11 | Cycle 2 | October 23, 24, 30 and 31; November 6 and 7 |
| Regional 12 | Cycle 2 | October 23, 24, 30 and 31; November 6 and 7 |
This calendar appears in the official Fortaleza City Hall announcement dated September 9, 2026. The same notice says that the program will take place across all 12 Regional districts and will end on December 12.
What the 156 attractions actually represent
The 156 attractions are the artists, groups and collectives selected through the public call, not the total number of public sessions. In March, the City Hall stated that each Regional district would receive activities from 13 Fortaleza-based groups and artists, with 39 activities per Regional district and 468 performances in total, reaching up to 36 territories. In August, when opening the selection process, the municipality also stated that each selected participant would give three performances.
So when reading the schedule, it is useful to distinguish who was selected from when and where each performance will take place. The number 156 describes the pool of contracted attractions; for planning a visit, the decisive information will be the detailed listing with date, time and address.
Which artistic fields are included
According to the City Hall, the selected acts were chosen from more than 400 applicants and cover seven artistic fields: music, dance, traditional popular culture, theater, literature, circus and multidisciplinary works. The selection was structured by Regional district, reinforcing the program's goal of circulation and local cultural participation.
The public call described the initiative as free cultural programming for all 12 Regional districts. The most recent announcement adds that each venue will have stage, sound and lighting infrastructure, as well as services intended to support comfort, safety and accessibility for audiences and artists.
Where to see the list of selected artists
The City Hall points readers to Mapa Cultural for the list of selected participants. The final result of the public call organizes applicants by Regional district and shows artistic category, group size, score and status. To identify the names actually selected, look for entries marked CLASSIFICADO (selected).
That document, however, is a selection result. It should not be confused with the public performance schedule: the list of selected participants does not, by itself, show which cycle date each artist will perform on or the final address of each activity.
How to track acts, addresses and times without getting lost
As of September 14, 2026, the official notice announcing the 156 attractions provides the date ranges for each cycle and the Regional districts included, but it does not provide a complete act-by-act schedule with time and address for every session. The City Hall itself directs the public to the municipal portal and the @programaculturanacalcada profile for program information.
- Start with your Regional district. Use the table above to identify the corresponding cycle.
- Save the six dates in that cycle. They form the official window during which programming will move through the group of four Regional districts.
- Look for the latest detailed schedule. Before leaving, confirm four items together: act name, Regional district, address and time.
- Do not turn the selection list into a timetable. The public-call result shows who was selected, but it does not replace the performance schedule.
- If information conflicts, prioritize the newest official update. Venue or time changes can make an older post unsuitable for travel planning.
A quick way to decide when to follow the program
If you live in or plan to visit Regional districts 4, 5, 8 or 10, the first period to watch runs from September 25 through October 10. For Regional districts 1, 3, 11 and 12, the window is October 23 through November 7. Regional districts 2, 6, 7 and 9 make up the third cycle, from November 27 through December 12.
This means you do not need to monitor the entire nearly three-month period every day. First identify your cycle; then, once the detailed schedule is released, filter by Regional district and confirm the specific session. This reduces the risk of mistaking a cycle date for a performance that may actually happen in another Regional district within the same group.
