Fortaleza City Hall announced 50 free places in Via Delas, an English and Spanish course aimed at women who work as drivers. There are 25 places for Spanish and 25 for English. The Spanish class starts on October 1, 2026, the English class on October 5, and activities are scheduled to continue through December.
Who can participate
The notice published by City Hall on September 25 targets women who work as drivers. The current text does not specify, in the news release itself, a minimum age, required documents, selection method, registration deadline, or whether there will be a waiting list.
In an earlier announcement about the partnership that created Via Delas, City Hall described the initiative as being for women ride-hailing drivers who live in Fortaleza. The October class announcement uses broader wording. Applicants should therefore check the criteria shown in the current registration form before treating their participation as confirmed.
Dates, places, and class organization
| Language | Places | Start date | Period | Reported frequency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spanish | 25 | October 1, 2026 | Through December 2026 | Two classes per week, 1 hour 30 minutes per class |
| English | 25 | October 5, 2026 | Through December 2026 | Two classes per week, 1 hour 30 minutes per class |
Where classes will be held
Classes will be held in person at the headquarters of the Instituto Municipal de Desenvolvimento de Recursos Humanos, known as Imparh, at Avenida João Pessoa, 5609, Damas, Fortaleza.
How to follow registration
When checked on September 28, 2026, the official page still stated that registration was open and displayed a link labeled “Formulário de inscrição”, meaning registration form. The City Hall notice did not publish a closing date or the number of places still available.
Because there are only 25 places per language and availability can change quickly, the safest approach is to open the official City Hall notice, use the registration form linked there, and check whether it is still accepting responses. For questions, the published contact number is +55 85 99921-2701.
What the training is intended to develop
According to City Hall, the course is intended to prepare participants for routine professional situations, especially when serving passengers and foreign tourists. The program is run by the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Semulher, in partnership with Imparh, and is part of local initiatives focused on professional training and women's economic autonomy.
The municipal government also presents the project as part of the city's preparation to receive visitors during the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. The course does not, however, guarantee employment or higher earnings; the confirmed benefit is the free training announced by the municipality.
