Which groups are part of the Reverberations of Afro and Indigenous Cultures edition

Sesc presents four acts in the 2026 national tour. They come from different regions of Brazil and bring together repertoires, territories, ancestral traditions and contemporary creation.

  • Gean Ramos Pankararu, from Pernambuco: develops work that connects Indigenous and Black ancestry and also carries out educational initiatives focused on valuing Indigenous knowledge.
  • Suraras do Tapajós, from Pará: a group of Indigenous women from the Lower Tapajós that performs carimbó and repertoires connected to territory, nature and ways of life.
  • Cabokaji, from Bahia: combines music, body, performance and sound technologies in the show Salvaguarda, creating an Afro-Indigenous landscape shaped by ritual, invention and imagination.
  • Nderé Oblé, from Rio Grande do Sul: brings together artists from different backgrounds in the performance Ancestral-Futuro, a creation shaped by words, body and sound.

Profiles of all four acts are available on the national Sonora Brasil page on Sesc's website.

What the Afro-Indigenous theme means in this edition

The 2026 edition is the 28th Sonora Brasil and carries the theme Reverberations of Afro and Indigenous Cultures. According to Sesc, the tour features four groups, reaches 42 cities in 15 states, and is expected to include 130 performances and 30 educational activities across Brazil. The aim is to broaden public listening to sounds, memories and experiences connected to different Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous territories.

The project has existed since 1998 and is part of Sesc's cultural programming. In this edition, the focus goes beyond concerts by also encouraging exchanges and educational activities that connect music, identity, territory and contemporary creation.

How to plan your visit from September 23 to 29

  1. Choose the date using the latest schedule. The Conecta Recife listing confirms the overall period but directs visitors to the event website for the detailed program.
  2. Check the time of the activity you want to attend. The 6 p.m. time shown in the municipal listing marks the beginning and end of the event record, not necessarily the time of every performance.
  3. Verify access rules. Even though free admission is confirmed, check whether any activity requires registration, advance ticket pickup or is subject to venue capacity.
  4. Use the official address as your reference. Sesc Casa Amarela is located at Avenida Norte Miguel Arraes de Alencar, 1190, in Mangabeira.

Where to check the schedule for each day

To decide which date works best, first follow the Sonora Brasil listing on Conecta Recife, which provides the local service information and directs visitors to the event website. For the concept of the edition and the four touring acts, also consult the national Sonora Brasil website and the official Sesc article about the 2026 edition.

Because the Recife stage is still upcoming, review the official agenda on the day of your visit. This helps you avoid relying on an outdated lineup and lets you confirm the act, time and any access instructions before going to Sesc Casa Amarela.
