Coven Academy received its official trailer on September 18, 2026, and already has a clear release date for viewers in Brazil: the full season premieres on Disney+ on October 2. The new preview expands on what the August teaser showed, putting Briar at the center of the story, highlighting her struggle to control newly discovered powers, and making the romantic triangle involving Jake and Ollie more explicit.
When does Coven Academy premiere in Brazil?
In Brazil, Coven Academy premieres on October 2, 2026, on Disney+. Disney's Brazilian press release states that the full season will be available on that date. The official Disney+ page in Brazil also confirms the October 2 release. So far, those pages do not provide a specific release time, so there is no official basis for stating an exact hour.
The Brazilian release is confirmed in Disney's Brazil press release and on the official Coven Academy page on Disney+.
What does the official trailer reveal?
The trailer released on September 18 works as an expansion of the first teaser. Disney highlights two central elements in the new preview: Briar trying to master her new witch powers and the love triangle between Briar, Jake, and Ollie. The edit uses Olivia Rodrigo's “Brutal” and reinforces the idea that Briar's enigmatic energy creates curiosity and tension among the school's young witches.
These elements do not change the premise introduced earlier, but they make it clearer how the teen drama will be integrated into the supernatural conflict. The protagonist does not arrive at school already in control. She must understand what she is, learn how to use magic, and deal at the same time with relationships that may complicate her place within the group.
The official trailer announcement is available on the Disney Latin America press site.
What is Coven Academy about?
The series is set at a secret magic school in the haunted heart of New Orleans. The story follows three teenage witches and other young supernatural students in an environment where power, secrets, and attraction have consequences. According to the official description, the group is caught between ancient supernatural wars, forbidden romantic interests, and a threat capable of putting both the city and the students themselves at risk.
Briar has a particularly strong connection to the central mystery. She is introduced as a fiercely independent New Yorker who discovers that she is a witch. Information published by Disney+ also indicates that her mother's disappearance makes her entrance into this new world personal, rather than simply a discovery about magic.
Who is in the cast?
The main ensemble brings together characters with different supernatural abilities and identities:
- Malina Pauli Weissman plays Briar, the young woman who discovers she is a witch and begins investigating her connection to the coven.
- Malachi Barton plays Jake, a warlock Disney describes as magnetic and dangerous.
- Jordan Leftwich plays Sasha, an empathetic student who can read minds.
- Ora Duplass plays Tegan, an irreverent witch with a power connected to time.
- Louis Thresher plays Ollie, a newly turned vampire who also becomes part of the romantic conflict around Briar.
- Tiffani Thiessen plays Miss Graves, the school's formidable and glamorous headmistress.
- Devon Sawa guest stars as Mr. Cole, a brilliant and charismatic witch teacher.
Disney's announced recurring cast includes Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese.
Who created the series?
Tim Federle, creator of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, created Coven Academy and serves as an executive producer. Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Amanda Row, and Bronwyn North-Reist are also executive producers. The series is produced by Federle's Chorus Boy Productions in association with Disney Kids & Family.
Disney describes the storytelling as unfolding through fast-paced chapters designed for binge viewing. That points to a brisk rhythm, but the official materials reviewed do not specify the length of each chapter. What is confirmed is that the full season will be made available at once on Disney+ in Brazil.
Why is the U.S. date different from the Brazilian date?
In the United States, the rollout starts earlier because the series also has a linear television premiere. Coven Academy premieres on Freeform on October 1 at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT. The following day, October 2, the full season becomes available on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform On Demand.
In Brazil, the official communication does not announce that Freeform step. For Brazilian viewers, the practical reference is the direct Disney+ release on October 2. The two dates therefore do not conflict: October 1 is the U.S. television premiere, while October 2 is the streaming launch and the date announced for Brazil.
What can viewers expect without spoilers?
The material released so far points to a mix of school drama, romance, and supernatural fantasy. The academy is not presented only as a setting for magic lessons. It is also a place of rivalry, secrets, and personal relationships that can shift alliances. Briar enters this environment without full control of her powers, while an external threat and the bonds among the students put pressure on the group from within.
The official trailer defines that balance more clearly than the initial teaser. Rather than revealing major twists, it reinforces Briar's identity conflict, her learning curve, and the tension between Jake and Ollie. For viewers who want to go in without plot spoilers, these are the safest points to understand the show's direction before release.
What has not been officially detailed yet?
Although the release date, platform, premise, and main cast are confirmed, the official materials reviewed do not state a specific Disney+ Brazil release time or publicly detail the length of each chapter. Episode descriptions or plot claims circulating outside official channels are therefore better treated cautiously until the platform publishes additional information.
For Brazilian viewers, the essentials are already set: Coven Academy arrives on Disney+ on October 2 with the full season available, and the new trailer puts Briar, her powers, and the triangle with Jake and Ollie at the center of anticipation for the premiere.
