Brazil U-17 have three confirmed matches at the UEFA Friendship Tournament in Switzerland: Canada on 24 September, Spain on 27 September and Côte d'Ivoire on 30 September 2026. The CBF describes the competition as the national team's final preparation stage before the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Brazil's schedule at the U-17 Friendship Tournament
| Date | Opponent | Confirmed location |
|---|---|---|
| 24/09/2026 | Canada | Colovray Sports Centre, Nyon, Switzerland |
| 27/09/2026 | Spain | Nyon, Switzerland; the CBF announcement does not specify the stadium |
| 30/09/2026 | Côte d'Ivoire | Nyon, Switzerland; the CBF announcement does not specify the stadium |
In the squad announcement published on 4 September, the CBF did not list kick-off times for the three matches. It is therefore safer to treat the dates as confirmed and check official channels close to each matchday for kick-off times, venue adjustments or operational changes.
How the tournament is organized
The Friendship Tournament brings together eight national teams. Brazil are in Group B with Canada, Côte d'Ivoire and Spain. The other group features Colombia, Egypt, England and Korea Republic. The CBF communication used for this article details Brazil's three group-stage fixtures but does not provide, in the same announcement, a schedule for later stages; extra matches should therefore not be assumed without new official confirmation.
Why these matches matter before the World Cup
The tournament's importance comes not from forecasting results but from its place in Brazil's preparation plan. The CBF calls it Brazil's final engagement before the World Cup and says coach Carlos Eduardo Patetuci will have three matches to make the team's last adjustments.
This block closes a recent sequence of international preparation. In June, Brazil beat the United States twice in Natal, 4-0 and 1-0. In August, at Granja Comary, Brazil defeated Venezuela 2-1 and 3-0. In Nyon, the coaching staff will face three different opponents within a few days, creating another opportunity to assess combinations, responses to different styles and collective performance in a tournament setting.
The Switzerland squad is not the final World Cup roster
The CBF called up 22 players for the Friendship Tournament, but its own official text says the competition takes place before the final World Cup group is defined. That distinction matters: being selected for Nyon is a fact about this preparation stage, not an automatic confirmation of a place at the World Cup.
Likewise, individual performances or line-ups in the tournament should not, by themselves, be treated as an official forecast of the final roster. Any conclusion about the World Cup squad depends on a later CBF announcement.
When the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup will be played
FIFA says the 2026 U-17 World Cup will take place in Qatar from 19 November to 13 December, with 48 teams. Brazil are in Group I alongside Republic of Ireland, Tanzania and Costa Rica.
There are therefore about seven weeks between Brazil's last confirmed match in Nyon, on 30 September, and the start of the World Cup on 19 November. That gap helps explain why the Swiss tournament is an important competitive test without being a definitive snapshot of the team that will arrive in Qatar.
What to monitor before the matches
- Kick-off times: they are not listed in the CBF announcement used as the source for this article.
- Possible venue updates: the opener against Canada is tied to the Colovray Sports Centre; for the next two matches, the publication provides dates and opponents without specifying the stadium.
- Squad updates: withdrawals, replacements or other changes need confirmation from official channels.
- World Cup roster: it should be treated as a separate announcement; the 22-player Nyon squad does not replace it.
To follow the schedule without mixing different stages, the CBF's official tournament page is the most direct source for Brazil. For the World Cup dates, format and group, FIFA is the reference source.
