Hunter’s Moon is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on October 26, 2026. Developed by independent studio Twin Swans, it is a first-person narrative folk-horror game. Its protagonist, Lilith Thorne, is a woman accused of witchcraft who must survive a night of pursuit in 17th-century England. The announced design emphasizes stealth, exploration and listening to conversations, rather than advertised confrontations with supernatural creatures.
When is Hunter’s Moon coming to PS5?
The announcement published on the PlayStation Blog on September 3, 2026, gives October 26, 2026 as the PS5 release date and presents the game as exclusive to the console in that announcement. An important regional distinction appears in its own footnote: October 25 in North America and October 26 in the other regions it names. The US PlayStation Store displays the date in UTC, which is not a substitute for verifying the unlock time in a local store. It would be misleading to turn that information automatically into a specific launch time in Brazil.
As checked on September 27, 2026, the store listed the game as announced and offered a wishlist option. The published date remains a future release target, not evidence that the game is already available.
What is the story and where is it set?
The action unfolds over a single night in a 17th-century rural English village, extending into forests and moorland. Lilith seeks shelter while being pursued by the so-called Witchfinder General, the village magistrate and a local huntsman. The setting includes villagers worn down by war and hardship, as well as performers in traditional folk costumes, known as mummers.
The studio presents the village as a place whose relationships and secrets can be uncovered. Accusations of witchcraft, collective fear and the threat posed by other people shape the horror. This does not mean the game is a documentary or that every depicted incident happened in history.
How does the announced gameplay work?
According to the official description, play takes place in first person and depends on observing the surroundings without being seen. Its highlighted mechanic is eavesdropping at windows, inspired by immersive theatre. By piecing together what residents say, the protagonist may find information and forms of help to get through the night.
- Avoid pursuers: rely on stealth and cunning to escape capture.
- Investigate the village: explore its stories and listen to dialogue to uncover clues.
- Use what is learned: accounts may provide warnings, advice, sacred items or folk songs relevant to survival.
The announcement also describes handcrafted stylized artwork and more than 100 fully voice-acted characters. Those details establish the narrative approach; they do not, by themselves, confirm campaign length, combat as a central system, multiple endings or cooperative modes. The store listing describes a one-player experience.
Why is it historical folk horror?
The team cites the 17th-century English witch hunts as inspiration and mentions Matthew Hopkins, who styled himself the Witchfinder General. Writer-director Alicia Contestabile connects the project to that historical setting and to the folk-horror tradition, a genre that explores a community’s beliefs, customs and tensions. The announced premise shifts the question of fear away from monsters and magic toward dangers created by people and accusations.
This historical reference does not turn Lilith’s story into a documented victim’s biography. As framed by the studio, it is fiction inspired by events and practices of the period.
Which PS5 features are listed?
The PlayStation Store lists offline play, one player, DualSense vibration support and a PS5 Pro Enhanced designation. Its listing shows 12 accessibility features, including volume controls, 3D audio, basic and enlarged subtitles, options to play without controller vibration, and pausing during gameplay or cinematics in offline play. The description of basic subtitles explicitly limits their coverage to the main story and main characters; full subtitles for every line from the more than 100 characters should therefore not be assumed.
Age rating and details still unconfirmed
A Brazilian age rating for Hunter’s Moon could not be confirmed from the official sources consulted as of September 27, 2026. The US page’s notice about online interactions not being rated by the ESRB must not be confused with the game’s age rating, and a rating from another territory is not automatically equivalent to a Brazilian rating. Check the information shown by the PlayStation Store in your region before purchasing.
Those sources also do not establish a price in Brazilian reais, an exact Brazilian unlock time, campaign length or a complete list of languages available in the Brazilian edition. These are separate from the date and gameplay premise that have already been announced. Keeping them distinct avoids presenting assumptions as confirmed specifications.
