RuneScape: Dragonwilds on PS Plus September 15: who gets it, how co-op works, and whether it has crossplay

RuneScape: Dragonwilds launches on PS5 and joins the Game Catalog on September 15. See which PS Plus tiers include it, how solo, co-op and crossplay work, and why crossplay does not mean cross-save.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds joins the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on September 15, 2026 for PS5. In Brazil, that means access for subscribers on the Extra and Deluxe tiers. Essential includes online multiplayer, but it does not include the Game Catalog, so that tier by itself does not unlock Dragonwilds through PS Plus. Sony announced the title as part of September's lineup, while the Brazilian game page confirms that online play is optional and supports up to four players on PS5.

Who gets RuneScape: Dragonwilds on PS Plus on September 15?

Dragonwilds is part of the Game Catalog, not the Monthly Games selection. That distinction matters because the benefit depends on the subscription tier. In Brazil, the official PlayStation Plus page states that Extra and Deluxe include the Game Catalog, while Essential does not.

The addition was announced for September 15, 2026. Sony notes that the Game Catalog can vary by region and that catalog titles may later be removed. Access should therefore not be confused with permanently purchasing the game.

Do you need PS Plus to play Dragonwilds?

It depends on what you want to do. To play solo, the PS5 listing marks online play as optional, and Jagex says the campaign can be played offline in solo mode. To play online on PS5, the official game page states that PlayStation Plus is required.

There are therefore two separate requirements: Extra or Deluxe are needed if you want to get the game through the Game Catalog, while online multiplayer is a benefit included in every PS Plus tier. In practice, someone who buys Dragonwilds separately does not need Extra or Deluxe just to join co-op — a tier with online multiplayer, such as Essential, meets that requirement.

How does co-op work on PS5?

The Brazilian PlayStation page for RuneScape: Dragonwilds lists one local player and up to four online players. Jagex describes the same group size another way: you can survive alone or with up to three friends.

Co-op keeps the game's core loop intact: explore Ashenfall, gather resources, build shelter, craft gear, level skills, and fight creatures and dragons as a group. Because online play is optional, you do not need to form a party to progress through the adventure.

Can you play solo and offline?

Yes. Jagex says Dragonwilds can be played offline in solo mode and that the Kuldra Saga experience will be available that way from day one. This matters because it separates two ideas: the game has a strong co-op focus, but it does not require a permanent internet connection or other players for the solo campaign.

Players who plan to switch between solo and co-op only need to remember that joining online sessions on PS5 requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

Does RuneScape: Dragonwilds have crossplay?

Yes. Jagex confirmed crossplay for the September 15 multiplatform launch. The launch announcement names PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and says the game has crossplay, allowing players on those platforms to meet in multiplayer.

That solves group compatibility, but it should not be confused with progress transfer. Crossplay answers “can I play with someone on another platform?”; cross-save or cross-progression answers “can I take my save to another platform?” In Dragonwilds, those answers are different.

Is there cross-save or shared progress across platforms?

Saves do not transfer between platforms. Jagex explains that progress does not carry from one platform to another. Steam supports Steam Cloud, but that does not turn a PC save into a PS5 or other console save.

The developer makes a useful distinction: existing Steam characters can take part in crossplay with players on other platforms, but the progress file is not transferred to the new platform. Anyone who has already played on PC and plans to start on PS5 should therefore expect to keep separate progress.

What to check before playing on September 15

  • Tier: in Brazil, Extra or Deluxe provide access through the Game Catalog; Essential does not include the catalog.
  • Console: Sony's listed version is for PS5.
  • Solo: you can play alone and offline.
  • Co-op: on PS5, the official listing supports up to four online players.
  • Online subscription: multiplayer on PS5 requires PlayStation Plus.
  • Crossplay: Jagex confirmed platform compatibility for the multiplatform launch.
  • Progress: crossplay does not mean cross-save; saves do not transfer between platforms.
  • Catalog access: access lasts while the game remains in the Catalog and your eligible subscription is active; the service library can change.

In short

For players in Brazil, the short answer is: RuneScape: Dragonwilds arrives on September 15 in the Game Catalog for PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers on PS5. The game can be played solo and offline, or in online co-op for up to four players on the console. Crossplay is available for the multiplatform launch, but saves do not transfer between platforms. If you already play on Steam and plan to move to PS5, that final limitation is the key point to plan around.
