A Tale of the Secret Saint premieres in Japan on October 3, 2026, but the phrase “double-episode premiere” needs one qualification: the anime’s official website says ABEMA and Prime Video will make episodes 1 and 2 available together at 10:00 p.m. Japan time. On television, however, TOKYO MX and BS11 begin with episode 1 at the same time, while episode 2 is released one week early on those two streaming services. Crunchyroll News summarized the launch as a double-episode premiere.
What happens on October 3
The confirmed Japanese schedule separates television broadcasting from digital distribution. That distinction prevents the impression that every channel and service will receive two episodes at the same time.
| Channel or service | Confirmed start | How episodes 1 and 2 are released |
|---|---|---|
| TOKYO MX | October 3, 10:00 p.m. | Weekly broadcast beginning with episode 1 |
| BS11 | October 3, 10:00 p.m. | Weekly broadcast beginning with episode 1 |
| Sun TV | October 3, 10:30 p.m. | Weekly broadcast beginning with episode 1 |
| AT-X | October 5, 10:00 p.m. | Weekly broadcast beginning with episode 1 |
| ABEMA and Prime Video | October 3, 10:00 p.m. | Episode 1 arrives alongside the TV broadcast and episode 2 is released with it, one week ahead of television |
The official website also says other streaming services will begin carrying the series sequentially after the terrestrial broadcast ends. The announcement reviewed here does not, by itself, confirm which platforms will carry the anime in every country, so international availability should be checked by territory as distributors announce their plans.
What the adaptation’s premise officially confirms
The official introduction presents Fia Ruud as a young woman determined to become a knight even though she is considered untalented with a sword. After nearly dying, she recovers memories of a previous life 300 years earlier, when she was a Great Saint with extraordinary healing and protective powers.
Those memories also restore the trauma of her death. In her previous life, Fia was killed by the Demon King’s right hand and was threatened with death again if she were ever reborn as a saint. She therefore decides to conceal her restored powers and live as a knight. The central conflict already announced is the difficulty of keeping that secret when she encounters injured or endangered people and ends up using her abilities to help them.
This is the safe boundary for discussing the anime’s story before release. Although the franchise includes light novels, a manga adaptation and a prequel series, the official materials reviewed here do not specify how many volumes, chapters or story arcs this season will adapt.
Cast confirmed so far
The official cast list currently includes twelve announced performers:
- Fia Ruud — Shion Wakayama
- Zavilia — Shinnosuke Tokudome
- Saviz Nav — Yuichiro Umehara
- Cyril Sutherland — Nobunaga Shimazaki
- Desmond Ronan — Tasuku Hatanaka
- Zachary Townsend — Daiki Hamano
- Quintin Agata — Tomokazu Sugita
- Clarissa Abanessi — Yukari Tamura
- Enoch — Shunichi Toki
- Fabian Weiner — Daiki Yamashita
- Charlotte — Miyuri Shimabukuro
- Curtis Bannister — Kikunosuke Toya
Curtis was the addition revealed on September 7. The official announcement describes him as captain of the 13th Knight Brigade, a gentle figure assigned to the Sutherland region, where serious tensions exist between knights and residents.
Production staff and announced theme songs
Felix Film is producing the series, with Tomoe Makino directing, Naoki Murata as assistant director, Deko Akao handling series composition, Satomi Kurita designing the characters, Ryosuke Naya directing sound and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the music. The original work is by Touya with illustrations by chibi, and the manga adaptation is credited to Mahito Aobe.
The latest promotional materials also list “Flare of Soul” by Kaya as the opening theme and “STELLAR” by Utahime Dream Allstars as the ending theme. Those credits are already part of the adaptation’s official information, unlike details such as the season’s total length or how its story arcs will be divided, which have not been stated in the sources reviewed here.
What the new trailer confirms — and what it does not
The main trailer released on September 7 reinforces Fia’s goal of becoming a knight and presents the group of characters around her. It visually confirms the fantasy tone, the tension between her knightly career and saintly powers, and the presence of characters already listed in the cast.
A trailer, however, is not enough evidence to establish the exact order of events, determine which light-novel volume the season will reach, or conclude that every scene shown belongs to the opening episodes. The official sources reviewed here also do not confirm a total episode count for the season.
What is still worth waiting for before calling it confirmed
- Total episode count: not stated on the official pages reviewed.
- Which volumes or story arcs will be adapted: not detailed so far.
- Full international availability: the official schedule confirms Japanese broadcasters and services, but it does not replace regional licensing announcements.
- “Two episodes at launch” on every platform: no. The specific confirmation is that ABEMA and Prime Video will have episodes 1 and 2 together on October 3; Japanese television begins with episode 1.
In short
The premiere date is set: October 3, 2026 in Japan. Viewers using ABEMA or Prime Video in the Japanese market will be able to access episodes 1 and 2 on the first day, with the second episode one week ahead of television. Fia’s central premise, twelve cast members, Felix Film’s main production staff, and the opening and ending themes are also confirmed. What should not yet be treated as fact is the total episode count, the exact portion of the light novels being adapted, and complete international distribution.
