The SEMA-MT 2026 public examination was opened by Notice No. 1, dated September 1, 2026, exclusively to create a reserve list for higher-education positions. Applications will be handled by Fundação Cesgranrio from 10:00 a.m. on September 17 to 4:00 p.m. on October 14, 2026, using Cuiabá official time. The fee is R$150.00. Before paying, the key step is to confirm the position + professional profile + work location combination, because it will be used for ranking and future appointments.

How to choose the position and profile without missing an eligibility rule

The notice contains 24 profiles across two career tracks. The stated workweek is 40 hours. Education requirements must be read exactly as written in Annex II: for several profiles, candidates need not only the specified degree but also registration with the relevant professional council when applicable. A degree with a similar name should not automatically be assumed to be equivalent.

Environmental Analyst

Starting pay stated in the notice: R$10,491.97. There are 15 profiles:

  • Architecture;
  • Biology;
  • Agronomic Engineering/Agronomy;
  • Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, or Environmental and Sanitary Engineering;
  • Civil Engineering;
  • Mining Engineering;
  • Electrical Engineering;
  • Forestry Engineering;
  • Geological Engineering/Geology;
  • Water Resources Engineering;
  • Mechanical Engineering;
  • Chemical Engineering/Chemistry;
  • Geography;
  • Veterinary Medicine;
  • Tourism.

Economic and Social Development Analyst

Starting pay stated in the notice: R$8,269.16. There are nine profiles:

  • Business Administration;
  • Information Technology Analyst;
  • Accounting;
  • Social Communication/Advertising;
  • Law;
  • Economics;
  • Psychology;
  • Social Work;
  • Sociology.

If you are unsure between two closely related qualifications, use the exact eligibility wording for your profile in Annex II rather than relying only on the shortened list of profile names.

Work location: why the choice changes your ranking

Most profiles are assigned only to SEMA-MT headquarters in Cuiabá. Five profiles also allow candidates to choose regional units:

  • Agronomic Engineering/Agronomy;
  • Environmental/Sanitary Engineering and the equivalent degrees listed in the notice;
  • Forestry Engineering;
  • Geological Engineering/Geology;
  • Law.

For those profiles, the options are Cuiabá (Headquarters), Alta Floresta, Barra do Garças, Cáceres, Confresa, Guarantã do Norte, Juína, Rondonópolis, Sinop and Tangará da Serra.

The location selected in the application is the place where the candidate would work if appointed. The notice also establishes ranking by position/profile/work location. There is a statewide general list by position/profile, but it does not override the priority of the location-specific lists. In practice, work location is not a minor administrative detail: it is part of the application strategy and should correspond to a city where you would actually be willing to serve.

Checklist to complete the application

  1. Open the notice and annexes. The SEMA-MT Notice No. 1 in the Official Gazette contains the profile table, work locations, eligibility rules and schedule.
  2. Choose the position and profile. Confirm that your degree — and any required professional registration — matches the wording of Annex II.
  3. Choose the work location. If the profile allows regional units, compare the ten locations and select only one where you would be prepared to work.
  4. Apply within the window. The form will be available through Fundação Cesgranrio from 10:00 a.m. on 09/17 to 4:00 p.m. on 10/14, Cuiabá time.
  5. Review the combination before submitting. Position, profile and work location will be used for ranking and appointment calls.
  6. Generate the DAR and pay by its due date. The fee is R$150.00. Payment must be made through the State Collection Document generated in the system, by bank slip or Pix, by the due date printed on the DAR.
  7. Keep receipts and follow the examining body. Later, check the Application Confirmation Card and all official notices.

The notice recommends paying only after confirming that you meet every eligibility condition. As a rule, the fee is non-refundable, except if the examination is canceled or if the same application fee is paid twice.

Who can request a fee waiver

The waiver request period runs from September 17 through September 24. The notice provides a full waiver for candidates who prove one of the legal grounds listed there: regular blood donors; unemployed candidates or workers earning up to one and a half minimum wages; and voters called and appointed by the Electoral Court of Mato Grosso or jury-service participants, subject to the conditions and documents required for each category.

Simply selecting the option in the system is not enough: the supporting documentation must be uploaded within the deadline. If the request is denied, appeals may be filed from September 30 through October 1, ending at 4:00 p.m. on the final day.

Tests: date, location and what happens to the written exam

The objective and written tests are scheduled for December 13, 2026 and will have a total duration of five hours. The notice provides for testing in Cuiabá; if there are not enough suitable venues, Fundação Cesgranrio may also use Várzea Grande.

Both stages will be taken on the same day and at the same time, but the written test will be graded only for candidates who are not eliminated in the objective test under the notice's criteria. That is another reason to consider the profile-specific syllabus in Annex III when making your choice.

A reserve list is not an immediate vacancy

The examination is exclusively intended to create a reserve list. Passing does not, by itself, create an automatic right to appointment. Any appointments made during the validity period will depend on the Administration's staffing needs and discretion, while respecting ranking order and statutory reservation rules.

The stated validity period is two years from final approval, with the possibility of one extension for the same period. Because ranking is segmented by position, profile and work location, choosing the location carefully is just as important as selecting the correct professional profile.
