How the objective test changes by job
Every job has an objective test. To pass this stage, candidates must earn at least 50% of the final score and must not score zero in any subject. The test lasts up to three hours.
| Job group | Objective test composition |
|---|---|
| Municipal Tax Auditor, Accountant and Teacher | 40 questions: 10 Portuguese Language, 8 General Knowledge, 6 Legislation and 16 Specific Knowledge |
| School Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant and School Monitor | 40 questions: 10 Portuguese Language, 8 Mathematics, 6 General Knowledge, 6 Legislation and 10 Specific Knowledge |
| Cleaning Assistant, School Cafeteria Worker, Driver and General Laborer | 30 questions: 8 Portuguese Language, 8 Mathematics, 6 Legislation and General Knowledge, and 8 Specific Knowledge |
Question weights also vary. In all three groups, Specific Knowledge represents the largest share of the score, reaching 56 points for the Municipal Tax Auditor, Accountant and Teacher group and 40 points for the other two groups.
Which jobs have an additional stage
Cleaning Assistant, School Cafeteria Worker, Driver and General Laborer take a practical test that is both eliminatory and classificatory. It is scored from 0 to 100 and requires at least 50 points. Under the notice, the first 15 pre-ranked candidates for Cleaning Assistant, School Cafeteria Worker and General Laborer, and the first 20 for Driver, will be called for the practical test, including ties. The board may also hold the practical test on the same day as the objective test, in the opposite session, depending on the number of applicants and operational conditions.
For Teacher Area I, the additional stage is a credentials review and is classificatory only. The table accepts one highest-value academic credential, without cumulative scoring: a doctorate is worth 10 points, a master's degree 6 points, and a specialization, MBA or lato sensu residency 3 points, provided the documentation rules in the notice are met.
How to compare before choosing a job
1. Start with the appointment requirement. Do not compare pay before confirming whether the required schooling, minimum age, professional registration or driver's license fits your situation. For Municipal Tax Auditor, use the updated wording in Notice 001-A/2026, which removed the professional council registration requirement.
2. Compare pay with weekly hours. The highest starting pay is for Accountant, at R$ 7,717.63 for 40 hours per week. Teacher has a 22-hour week and starting pay of R$ 2,931.51. Among high-school-level jobs, weekly hours range from 30 to 40.
3. Factor in the additional stage. Four jobs require a practical test and Teacher requires credentials. This changes the type of preparation and the calendar after the objective test.
4. Look at the test design. Specific Knowledge carries substantial weight in every group. If you qualify for two jobs, compare not only the number of questions but also the syllabus in Annex III.
5. Do not count on taking two tests on the same day. The notice recommends submitting only one application because the objective test session will depend on the number of applicants and venue availability. If two applications fall on the same date and session, the candidate must choose only one test and there is no fee refund.
