Brazil in the first post-World Cup FIFA window: dates, venues and what is confirmed

Brazil have three confirmed friendlies after the 2026 World Cup: two against Australia and one against India. See dates, stadiums, Brasília time and what remains under negotiation.

Brazil return to action after the 2026 World Cup with an international-window schedule already officially set for late September and early October. As of 31 August, the confirmed agenda contains three friendlies: two against Australia, on 25 and 29 September, and one against India, on 3 October. The key difference from generic “next matches” lists is that this guide separates what the federations have officially announced from fixtures that are still only under negotiation.

The CBF confirmed the two opponents and three friendlies on 30 July. For the matches in Australia, Football Australia also lists both fixtures with an 8:00pm local kick-off (AEST). Queensland uses AEST, UTC+10, while Brasília is UTC-3, so both matches correspond to 7:00am Brasília time.

25 September: Australia v Brazil in Townsville

The first post-World Cup match will be played on Friday, 25 September, at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville. The CBF says the venue, opened in 2020, holds more than 25,000 spectators. The Australian organisers list kick-off at 8:00pm local time, therefore 7:00am in Brasília.

The match also opens Brazil's new sporting cycle. The CBF itself presents the tour as the beginning of a preparation and scouting period aimed at the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup.

29 September: a second Brazil-Australia match, this time in Brisbane

Four days later, on Tuesday, 29 September, Brazil and Australia meet again. The second friendly will be at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, with a capacity above 52,000 according to the CBF. The time published by the Australian federation is again 8:00pm AEST, equivalent to 7:00am in Brasília.

The repeated opponent is not a scheduling mistake: these are two separate friendlies against the Australian national team, in two Queensland cities.

3 October: Brazil v India in Kolkata will be a first-ever meeting

After the Australian leg, Brazil travel to India. The third friendly is confirmed for Saturday, 3 October, at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, better known as Salt Lake Stadium, in Kolkata. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has also confirmed the date, city and stadium.

It will be the first meeting between the senior men's national teams of Brazil and India. The CBF gives the venue a capacity of 63,000. At the time of this update, however, neither the CBF nor AIFF had published an official kick-off time; any Brasília time shown elsewhere should therefore be treated as provisional until the federations announce it.

Why did the September-October window become longer in 2026?

The label “Super FIFA window” is often used because the men's international calendar changed from 2026. FIFA established a 16-day window with room for up to four matches in late September and early October, replacing the previous structure of two shorter windows in that period.

That is why Brazil can chain together Australia, Australia and India in the same international release. The CBF states that the first post-World Cup FIFA window runs from 21 September to 6 October. Having regulatory room for four matches, however, does not mean a fourth friendly is automatically scheduled.

What is confirmed and what is still under negotiation

Confirmed: the three friendlies listed above — Australia in Townsville, Australia in Brisbane and India in Kolkata. Dates and venues appear in official CBF announcements; Australia and India also have confirmation from their respective national federations.

Not yet confirmed: a possible fourth match on 6 October. On 28 August, UOL reported that the CBF viewed a friendly in Bangladesh positively but was waiting for a response from local organisers. Bangladesh's state news agency also reported that the BFF and CBF would discuss a possible visit after stadium inspections in Dhaka. Until an official announcement closes the opponent, venue and conditions, this match should not be added to the schedule as a confirmed fact.

November: the CBF confirms another FIFA window in November 2026, but the official note consulted does not name opponents. There has been a report of negotiations for a tournament in Singapore involving other national teams, but that should remain in the category of likely planning until the CBF makes it official.

Time zones for viewers in Brazil

  • Townsville, 25/09: 8:00pm AEST = 7:00am Brasília time.
  • Brisbane, 29/09: 8:00pm AEST = 7:00am Brasília time.
  • Kolkata, 03/10: kick-off time has not yet been officially published by the primary sources consulted.

It is better not to convert the India match from times shown by aggregators or unofficial ticket pages. India uses IST (UTC+5:30), which is 8 hours 30 minutes ahead of Brasília, but the final conversion can only be made once an official local kick-off time exists.

What these friendlies start in the road to 2030

The trip was not announced merely as a commercial friendly series. The CBF links the three matches to the start of preparations for the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup. Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that he intends to use the sequence to assess new names, especially younger players, while the technical staff strengthens integration with Brazil's youth national teams.

For supporters, the practical takeaway is straightforward: Brazil already have three post-World Cup matches with opponent, date and stadium defined. The kick-off times for the two matches in Australia are also published. The India kick-off time and any potential fourth friendly still require official updates. Until then, Bangladesh or November plans should not be mixed into the list of confirmed fixtures.
