When can a 2026/27 Premier League game change date and time? The TV confirmations calendar

Understand when the Premier League table is still provisional, which TV advertisements make the schedule more reliable and when World Cups can trigger new changes.

The date that appears first in the Premier League table should not automatically be treated as definitive. The calendar released at the beginning of the season organizes the 380 games into rounds, but the league itself warns that dates and times are subject to change throughout the year.

In practice, there are two major triggers. The first is the selection of matches for live broadcast in the UK, which redistributes games between Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The second is the fit with the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, EFL Cup and FA Cup. In some cases, even a game that has already received a new TV time continues to carry a condition that can force another change.

For those in Brazil, the most useful reading is not just to ask “what is the date of the game?”, but “at what stage of confirmation is this date?”. This difference avoids planning a trip, committing to an entire afternoon, or making subscription decisions based on a schedule that is still only tentative.

The date on the calendar is not a promise

On the day the table is published, most weekend games appear in the standard Saturday 3pm UK local time. The Premier League explains that this is a starting point: matches chosen for British TV need to occupy other windows, and cup commitments may require new adjustments.

The league itself says that, in general, around five matches per round are selected for live broadcast in the UK and leave on Saturday at 3pm. Available times span the weekend, running from Friday evening to Monday evening. Therefore, a game initially listed on Saturday may end on Friday, early or late Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

This process is especially relevant in 2026/27 because the Premier League has nine clubs in UEFA competitions. The more teams advance in European tournaments and domestic cups, the greater the chance of there being conditional adjustments or changes with less notice

than ideal.

What makes a game leave on Saturday at 3pm

British TV selection

When Sky Sports or TNT Sports choose a match to broadcast live in the UK, the Premier League rearranges the date and time within the permitted windows. The British choice is important for Brazilian fans because it changes the actual time of the match; does not mean that Brazilian TV is deciding to change.

Saturday 3pm is a window that cannot be used for live domestic broadcasting in the UK during the blackout period. Therefore, matches chosen for TV tend to migrate to times such as Saturday at 12:30 pm or 5:30 pm, Sunday at 2:00 pm or 4:30 pm, as well as Friday and Monday at 8:00 pm, among other possibilities defined by the schedule.

European competitions

UEFA also changes the puzzle. Clubs playing in the Europa League or Conference League on Thursday cannot simply return to the field in the Premier League the following Saturday. In these situations, the league game is usually pushed to Sunday.

The Champions League creates another type of restriction. A team playing on a Tuesday, for example, cannot have a Premier League match scheduled on the Sunday immediately preceding. And the distribution between Tuesday and Wednesday in the Champions League could affect which Saturday or Sunday window remains viable.

EFL Cup and FA Cup

Domestic pantries add dependencies. The EFL Cup could force adjustments in September and at other stages when the cup round crosses with European commitments. Further ahead, the FA Cup is especially relevant because the semi-finals and final occupy weekends that also feature Premier League rounds.

Therefore, the list of TV ads does not eliminate all uncertainties. The Premier League itself maintains a page of matches with “possible change” when there is a specific condition linked to UEFA, EFL Cup or FA Cup.

A practical way to read the status of a game

The following labels are editorial reading to help with planning; are not official names used by the Premier League.

Provisional

This is the stage at which the game appears in the base table, but the TV selection window for that period has not yet been announced. If the match is on Saturday at 3pm and the month has not yet gone through the confirmation round, treat the time as a reference, not as a definitive commitment.

TV selection announced

Here the Premier League has already published the revised calendar for that block of rounds. The game may have remained on Saturday or been moved to another window. This ad greatly increases reliability for those who need to organize their routine.

Selection announced, but still conditional

This is the case that requires the most attention. The date and time already appear in the revised calendar, but the league itself adds a note saying that the game may change depending on the draw, I send it

or classification in a parallel competition.

Almost closed

When the TV selection has already been announced and the cup condition that could affect the game has also been resolved, the schedule enters the safest stage for practical planning. Still, exceptional events can trigger changes, so a final check close to travel or departure still makes sense.

Official Premier League TV announcement schedule 2026/27

The Premier League publishes approximate dates for each block of rounds. The important word is “approximate”: they act as a guide for when to expect the next wave of confirmations, not as a rigid deadline.

For rounds 2 to 5, with games in August and September 2026, the official forecast was the week starting July 13th. For rounds 6 to 9, mainly referring to October, the forecast was the week starting August 24th. For November rounds 10-12, the target is the week beginning September 21.

The block of rounds 13 to 20, covering December 2026 and January 2027, is scheduled for the week starting October 19th. Rounds 21 to 23, still in January, are scheduled for the week starting November 30th. Rounds 24 to 27, from February 2027, are scheduled for the week starting December 21, 2026.

For March 2027, rounds 28 to 30, the reference is the week starting January 18. For April, rounds 31 to 33, the week beginning February 22nd. Round 34, which covers April and May, is scheduled for the week starting March 22.

In the final stretch, round 35 is scheduled for the week starting March 29; round 36, for the week starting April 5; and round 37 should only be consolidated after the FA Cup semi-finals. Round 38 does not appear in this sequence because the last round of the season, on May 30, 2027, is scheduled to have all games simultaneously at 4pm in the United Kingdom.

What is already confirmed on August 17, 2026

The estimation calendar has already shown why it should not be read as an exact clock. The Premier League predicted the TV picks for rounds 6 to 9 for the week beginning 24 August, but published the revised schedule for October and early November on 17 August.

This advertisement provides clear examples of the process. Liverpool v Manchester City was placed on Sunday 11th October at 4:30pm; Coventry City x Newcastle is scheduled for Monday, October 12th, at 8pm. In the following round, matches involving Bournemouth, Sunderland and Crystal Palace were placed on the Sunday because of Europa League games on the previous Thursday.

In other words: when the Premier League releases the block review, it is worth replacing the base table with this updated version. But you still need to read the footnotes and conditions of the advertisement itself.

A game can change again after TV selection

Aston Villa x Manchester City is a good example. The October 24 clash has been announced for Saturday at 12:30pm, broadcast on TNT Sports in the UK. At the same time, the Premier League registered a condition: the game would move to 8pm if Aston Villa were drawn to play away from home in the Champions League on the previous Wednesday.

This shows why “selected for TV” is not automatically synonymous with “impossible to change”. If the league itself still associates the time with a future event, fans should wait for this condition to be resolved before purchasing non-refundable transportation or creating a very rigid itinerary.

The page of possible changes brings similar cases linked to the EFL Cup. Leeds x Newcastle, for example, appears with an alternative to return to Saturday if certain combinations of classification and clash in the cup occur. The logic is always the same: TV defines a window, but competitive fit may force a second move.

How to read timetables from Brazil

Times published by the Premier League are local to the UK. Until October 24, 2026, the competition operates in British Summer Time, one hour ahead of GMT. On October 25th, British clocks turn back one hour and the country returns to GMT.

For Brasília time, which is in UTC-3, this changes the difference throughout the season. While the UK is in BST, London is four hours ahead of Brasilia. Thus, a game at 4:30pm BST takes place at 12:30pm in Brasilia. After returning to GMT, the difference drops to three hours; a game at 16:30 GMT takes place at 13:30 in Brasilia.

This turn happens in the middle of a round. The revised October calendar itself makes it clear that games up to Saturday, October 24th, use BST and that those on Sunday, 25th, are already presented in GMT. For those following in Brazil, this is a common source of error when saving schedules manually.

When you can plan a trip, subscription or routine

For a trip, the safest criterion is to wait for the block's TV selection and check if the game has no pending UEFA, EFL Cup or FA Cup condition. The more expensive or less reimbursable the plan, the more important it is to avoid decisions based solely on the season's initial table.

For those who just want to reserve a time to watch, the risk is lower. The base calendar is used to know the weekend of the round, but not necessarily the final day and time. When the Premier League publishes the revised block, update your schedule and check again for conditional observation.

In the case of a service subscription, it is worth asking two questions. One is “when does the game take place?”, which depends on the Premier League and the competitive calendar. Another is “who broadcasts in Brazil?”, which depends on local rights. The UK TV selection may change the match time, but should not be confused with the Brazilian channel or platform setting.

The Premier League itself recommends its digital calendar to monitor changes. For those who follow many clubs or plan months ahead, synchronizing the calendar reduces the risk of keeping an old date on your cell phone after an official review.

Pocket rule to avoid falling into temporary hours

If the game is on a Saturday at 3pm and the TV block for that month has not yet been announced, consider the tentative time. If the TV selection is out, use the revised calendar. If there is a note conditioning the match to Champions, Europa League, Conference League, EFL Cup or FA Cup, wait for the condition to be resolved before treating the time as practically closed.

In the 2026/27 season, the official announcement calendar is the best tool to know when to check. It doesn't eliminate late changes, but it transforms a table that seems definitive into something more useful: a map of when information actually becomes reliable.
