Vasco reached the quarterfinals after beating Fluminense 3-1 at Maracanã, on August 5. As the match had ended 0-0, the result guaranteed the place directly, without a penalty shootout. With the elimination of their rival, the Vasco team also became the only representative of Rio de Janeiro still in the Copa do Brasil.

The draw scheduled by the CBF will not only serve to reveal the opponent. The dates of August 26/27 and September 2/3 are base dates. Time, stadium and exact day of each match depend on the CBF's definition after the draw and publication of the detailed table.
Who could Vasco face in the quarterfinals
There is no restriction on clashes in the quarterfinals. The eight classifieds can face each other, so there is no separation that prevents duels between clubs from the same region, position in the ranking or national division. Vasco may receive any of the other seven classified in the draw.
At the editorial end of this version, on August 6, in addition to Vasco, Atlético-MG, Santos, Cruzeiro, Grêmio and Palmeiras were confirmed in the quarterfinals. The two remaining places came from the clashes Corinthians x Internacional and Vitória x Athletico-PR, played this Thursday. CBF still presented these two games as responsible for completing the phase.
Thus, until the official confirmation of the latest results, Vasco's possible rivals were:

The draw also decides the commands
Knowing the opponent does not solve the agenda alone. The CBF will also draw the order of matches for the quarterfinals, determining which team plays the first match at home and who decides the match as home team.
Therefore, it is not yet possible to say whether Vasco will play the first or second game in Rio, nor to name São Januário or Maracanã as the venue. How much does a place in the quarterfinals represent in terms of prizes
The CBF defined R$4 million for each club participating in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Copa do Brasil. As Vasco secured classification, they joined this group of eight teams.
The entity's quota table provides, in the decisive phases:
- round of 16: R$ 3 million per participant;
- quarter-finals: R$ 4 million per participant;
- semi-final: R$9 million per participant;
- runner-up: R$ 34 million;
- champion: R$ 78 million.
The R$4 million should not be treated as Vasco's net profit nor as a direct impact of the same value on the club's budget. Wednesdays will have semi-automatic offside
There is still an operational change for the next phase. The CBF informed on August 6 that the semi-automatic offside system will be used in the quarter-final clashes of the Copa do Brasil. The technology, already used by the entity in the Brazilian Championship, therefore becomes part of Vasco's games in the tournament from this stage onwards.
