Recife will have special traffic operations for seven events on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026. The schedule includes road races, a walk, the Diversity Parade in Dois Unidos and the São Francisco Festival procession in Pina. CTTU said that traffic officers, guides and motorcycle escorts will implement temporary closures and detours as required by each route.
For drivers, the most important point is to separate three pieces of information: the announced start time of the event or race, the actual closure time and the expected reopening time. CTTU did not publish a complete closure window for every race. Therefore, when there is no official reopening time, this guide states clearly that the duration was not provided.
Summary of the seven events and traffic restrictions
| Day and event | Announced start | Main areas and roads | Closure or reopening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday, 1st Sindacs-PE Race/Walk | 5:30 a.m. | Rua da Aurora, Ponte do Limoeiro, City Hall area, Ponte Buarque de Macedo, Ponte Duarte Coelho and Ginásio Pernambucano | Temporary closures and detours along the route. Reopening time not provided. |

Saturday: two races concentrate early impacts in the city center
1st Sindacs-PE Race/Walk at 5:30 a.m.
Saturday's program starts at 5:30 a.m. The race has 5 km and 10 km courses, while the walk has 3 km and 5 km options. The start is on Rua da Aurora. CTTU identifies Ponte do Limoeiro, Recife City Hall, Ponte Buarque de Macedo and Ponte Duarte Coelho as route references, with the finish in front of Colégio Ginásio Pernambucano.
For drivers, the reliable information is that temporary closures and detours will be tied to the passage of participants. The publication does not provide one single reopening time for all roads. Therefore, 5:30 a.m. should be read as the start of the event schedule, not as a complete closure window.
13th Eu Amo o Recife Half Marathon at 6 a.m.
CTTU support begins at 6 a.m. The 5 km, 10 km and 21 km races start at Marco Zero and finish at Parador. For the 5 km route, the highlighted reference is Ponte Giratória. On the 10 km course, runners continue along Avenida Martins de Barros, Forte das Cinco Pontas and Cais José Estelita, turn around in Cabanga, and return via Cais José Estelita and Ponte Giratória. The 21 km course extends to Via Mangue before the return.
Conecta Recife lists the Half Marathon from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. That window helps indicate the scale of the event, but it does not replace street-level traffic management: a road may reopen earlier or later depending on the race flow and CTTU operations.
Sunday morning: three races in different parts of Recife
Corrida da Tropa at 5 a.m. in Imbiribeira
The race starts on Rua Francisco Corrêa de Moraes and continues along Rua Joaquim Pinheiro, Avenida Desembargador José Neves, Túnel Augusto Lucena, Rua Dom João VI and Viaduto Dom João VI. The return follows the same route back to the starting point. CTTU did not provide an end time or a full road reopening time.
ASICS Run Challenge 2026 at 5:30 a.m. at Forte do Brum
The event organizer lists 4 km, 7 km and 15 km distances, with a 5:30 a.m. start and the finish also at Forte do Brum. CTTU describes a general corridor through Avenida Militar, Rua da Aurora, Ponte Princesa Isabel, Rua do Sol and Praça da República, with extensions toward Marco Zero, Cais de Santa Rita, Avenida Engenheiro José Estelita, Ponte Governador Paulo Guerra and Via Mangue depending on the course.
There is a naming discrepancy worth noting. The organizer's material lists 4 km, 7 km and 15 km, while the CTTU notice, after citing those same three distances, later uses “5 km” and “10 km” labels when describing two route branches. Because the sources do not reconcile this difference, this guide does not assign those branches to a specific distance. For trip planning, use the streets listed by CTTU as the practical reference and follow traffic signs on Sunday.
2nd Colibri Run at 6 a.m. along the beachfront and Brasília Teimosa
CTTU lists 5 km and 10 km courses starting and finishing at Segundo Jardim in Boa Viagem. The route passes Avenida Boa Viagem, Rua Comendador Moraes, Rua do Jaú, Rua Marechal Hermes and Avenida Brasília Formosa, reaching Parque de Esculturas Francisco Brennand before returning. The traffic notice does not provide an official road reopening time.
Sunday afternoon and evening: Dois Unidos and Pina
Diversity Parade: road closures begin five hours before the event
This is the clearest case in which the event start and the road closure are different. The 18th Dois Unidos Diversity Parade is scheduled for 2 p.m., but closures begin at 9 a.m. The City of Recife details two closure points on Avenida Hildebrando de Vasconcelos: at Rua Arquelau da Silveira Lira and Rua Monsenhor Arruda Câmara.
Drivers heading from the city toward the suburbs should access Rua Arquelau da Silveira Lira and continue via Estrada de Passarinho. In the opposite direction, from the suburbs toward the city, the detour also uses Estrada de Passarinho, starting from Terminal de Ônibus de Passarinho. Reopening is expected after the crowd disperses, estimated at 9 p.m.
São Francisco Festival procession from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The procession leaves at 6 p.m. from Capela São Francisco de Assis on Avenida Dr. Dirceu Toscano de Brito, in Pina, and returns to the same location. The route follows Avenida República do Líbano, Rua Jemil Asfora, Rua Henriqueta Torreiro, Rua Abreu Albano, Rua Amador Bueno and Avenida Dr. Dirceu Toscano de Brito again.
In this case, closures will be rolling: officers and escorts will close and reopen sections as the procession advances. The expected end time is 7:30 p.m.
How to plan travel on September 19 and 20
- Early Saturday: avoid depending on central-city and Bairro do Recife crossings at the same time as the two races. Their routes approach bridges and central corridors, and reopening will be operational rather than based on one published time.
- Early Sunday: account for simultaneous operations in Imbiribeira, Bairro do Recife, the city center, Boa Viagem, Pina and access to Via Mangue. If your trip crosses these areas, leave extra time and follow temporary traffic signs.
- In Dois Unidos: treat 9 a.m., not 2 p.m., as the critical time for anyone using Avenida Hildebrando de Vasconcelos.
- In Pina early Sunday evening: expect moving delays around the procession because restrictions follow the participants and change location along the route.
CTTU's official recommendation is to plan trips in advance and, when possible, prefer public transportation, taxis or ride-hailing services. For questions during the operation, CTTU's 24-hour phone service is available at 0800 081 1078.
What can still change
Closures associated with races and processions can be installed and removed according to the passage of participants and operational conditions. The CTTU notice does not set reopening times for five of the seven events. Therefore, any duration beyond the explicitly published windows would be an estimate, and this guide does not present such estimates as facts. On the day, the safest reference is on-site signage and instructions from traffic officers.
