The 4th edition of Conexão Animal, organized by the City of São Paulo's Coordination for the Health and Protection of Domestic Animals (Cosap), already took place on July 25, 2026. The official registration form is closed. On the official pages reviewed through September 16, 2026, there is no announcement of a new Conexão Animal edition for September. Anyone who finds a post saying registration for the 4th edition is still open should check the publication date before submitting any form.

The event was not a conventional adoption fair. Its purpose was to select volunteers described as “adoption influencers” to interact with animals housed at the Municipal Adoption Center and help publicize those pets on social media. The city announced 28 spots for interaction with dogs and asked participants to arrive 15 minutes before the start.

How registration worked for the 4th edition

Registration was completed through an online form published by the Municipal Health Department. The official deadline was July 23, 2026, or earlier if all spots were filled. The form now states that registration has ended.

What to bring if you plan to adopt an animal at Cosap

Taking part in Conexão Animal and completing an adoption are different procedures. For an adoption at the Municipal Adoption Center, the most recent official guidance reviewed requires specific documents and transport items. Anyone who plans to leave with an adopted animal should prepare in advance.

  • RG and CPF, the Brazilian identity and taxpayer documents of the adopter.
  • Recent proof of address, issued within the previous three months.
  • Pet carrier when adopting a cat.
  • Collar and leash when adopting a dog.
  • Payment of the R$ 35.80 public fee, the amount reported by the city in July and August 2026.

The city also states that animals offered for adoption by Cosap are vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, microchipped and have a Municipal Animal Registry (RGA). The regular adoption service operates at the same address Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Rules and fees can change, so confirm them before traveling on the official dog and cat adoption page.

How to prepare for a future Conexão Animal edition

Because the 4th edition has already ended, the practical next step is to follow the Municipal Health Department and Cosap channels for a new announcement. When another edition is announced, first verify the publication date, registration deadline, number of spots and the registration form address. This helps avoid using an old link or arriving outside the current schedule.

  1. Confirm that the announcement refers to the current edition and that the form is still accepting responses.
  2. Check whether the activity is volunteer engagement, animal promotion or direct adoption.
  3. Note the time and arrival instructions because capacity may be limited.
  4. If you intend to adopt, bring the required documents and the correct transport item for the animal.
  5. Before assuming guardianship, consider your routine, available space, veterinary expenses and long-term care needs.

What responsible adoption means in this context

Conexão Animal is designed to increase visibility for animals and encourage responsible decisions, not to rush people into an impulsive adoption. Cosap itself notes that dogs and cats may live 12 years or longer and need food, shelter, hygiene, safety and veterinary care throughout their lives.

In short, registration is not open for the 4th edition. The event took place in July 2026. People who want to support the initiative can watch for future Conexão Animal calls, while those already planning to adopt can visit the Municipal Adoption Center directly with the documents and items required by the regular adoption service.
