Rio 2016 exhibition at the Paralympic Training Center: how to visit and when medalist tours are still running

The exhibition is free through November 27; medalist-led tours end September 17 and require an advance reservation.

Visitors planning to see the exhibition marking 10 years since the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center in São Paulo should distinguish between two different experiences. The exhibition is free, remains open through November 27, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and does not require a ticket. The guided tour with medalists is offered only on selected dates through September 17 at 2:30 p.m. and requires a free advance reservation through Sympla.

As of September 10, 2026, tours are still scheduled for September 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The official schedule has no tour on September 13. Because places are reserved in advance, a date appearing on the calendar does not by itself guarantee that spots remain; current availability should be checked on the Sympla event page.

How to visit the Rio 2016 exhibition

The exhibition is set up in the entrance lobby of the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center and brings together original items connected to the Games, including medals, torches, competition uniforms, photo and video records, and mascot costumes. It also presents elements of the event's history, from Rio de Janeiro's selection as host city to symbols associated with the Games.

According to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, admission is free, visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the exhibition runs through November 27 without a ticket requirement. The CPB service notice does not spell out specific weekend or holiday exceptions; for a visit on one of those dates, it is sensible to check for any operational update from the Training Center before traveling.

When tours with medalists are still available

As of September 10, 2026, the remaining tours announced by the CPB are:

DateMedalists announced by the CPB
Sep. 10Evelyn Oliveira and Gustavo Henrique
Sep. 11Alessandro Silva and Felipe de Souza Gomes
Sep. 12Diogo Ualisson and Shirlene Coelho
Sep. 14Ricardo Costa de Oliveira and Silvânia Costa de Oliveira
Sep. 15Evani Calado and Antonio Leme
Sep. 16Claudiney Batista
Sep. 17Daniel Dias

No tour is scheduled for September 13. The list above follows the CPB news release; the Sympla booking page uses shortened or slightly different versions of some names, so the booking page itself is the practical reference for confirming the selected session.

How to reserve the tour

Tour registration must be completed in advance on Sympla. Admission is free, but a reservation is required to join the guided route. On the event page, check whether the session for your preferred date still has availability before planning the trip.

The tour begins at 2:30 p.m. Since the experience involves moving through the complex and joining the medalist leading that session, arriving early is the safer choice for entry procedures and finding the meeting point.

Where the Training Center is and how to get there

The Brazilian Paralympic Training Center is located at Rodovia dos Imigrantes, km 11.5, Vila Guarani, São Paulo. The event page highlights access from Jabaquara–Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro station, the southern terminus of São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue.

The CPB also says the circular bus route 605A/10 Centro Paralímpico – Metrô Jabaquara connects the metro station to the Training Center and uses an accessible fleet. For public-transport details, see the CPB guidance on route 605A/10 and the official page for Jabaquara–Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro station.

Is it worth going without a tour reservation?

Yes, if the exhibition itself is your main goal. A tour reservation is not required to enter the exhibition. The guided program ends on September 17, but the exhibition continues through November 27. That distinction matters for visitors who find the guided sessions full or can only reach the Training Center after the commemorative week.

Checklist before you go

  • For the exhibition: make sure your date falls between September 9 and November 27 and plan to visit between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • For the tour: choose one of the official dates through September 17 and make an advance reservation on Sympla.
  • Do not plan on a tour on September 13: that is the exception listed by the CPB.
  • Check real-time session availability on Sympla, especially for the final days of the program.
  • Use the Paralympic Training Center at Rodovia dos Imigrantes, km 11.5 as your destination and consider the connection via Jabaquara metro station and bus route 605A/10.

Dates, times, free admission and reservation rules are based on information published by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and the official Sympla registration page. Because available places can change, the final check should be made when booking.
