Off Campus Season 2: why Allie and Dean take the lead and where it fits in the books

Off Campus Season 2 centers Allie and Dean, the couple from book three, The Score. See the five-book order, what Grace's casting means for The Mistake, and what Prime Video has confirmed, spoiler-free.

Off Campus Season 2 puts Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis at the center of the story. Amazon's official update, revised on September 11, 2026, confirms Mika Abdalla as Allie and Stephen Kalyn as Dean and says the new season will spotlight their relationship. The key point for book readers is that this couple belongs to The Score, the third novel in Elle Kennedy's series.

Short answer: Season 2 points to book three

In the book order, Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham are the central couple in The Deal, the first novel. They are also the romantic core of Season 1 on Prime Video. Allie and Dean, however, lead The Score, which Elle Kennedy's official site identifies as Off-Campus book 3. That means the TV adaptation is not moving directly from book 1 to book 2.

The confirmed fact is that Allie and Dean were chosen as the main romance for Season 2. The official update does not say that the change was made because of popularity, cast chemistry, or any other specific reason. Without a statement from the creative team, those explanations would be inference. What can be stated is that the adaptation is using its own order for the couples.

Where Season 2 sits in the five-book order

2The MistakeLogan and GraceGrace is confirmed for Season 2, but the production has not detailed how much of this book's story will be adapted
3The ScoreAllie and DeanConfirmed main couple for Season 2
4The GoalTucker and SabrinaNo main-focus announcement for Season 2 in the official September update
5The LegacyThe series couplesLater reunion volume, with no main-focus announcement for Season 2

The order can be checked on Elle Kennedy's official Off-Campus page. The Brazilian publisher's Amores Improváveis box page lists the same five-book sequence, and its page for O Jogo, the Brazilian edition of The Score, identifies it as the third book and centers Dean and Allie.

So was The Mistake skipped?

It is not accurate to say that The Mistake was discarded. Prime Video's update confirms Antonio Cipriano returning as John Logan and India Fowler joining as Grace Ivers. Logan and Grace are the central couple in book two. Their presence keeps that part of the book series active in Season 2 even though Allie and Dean have the main romance.

What has not been publicly explained is the adaptation structure. Prime Video has not detailed whether Season 2 will use only parts of Logan and Grace's arc, develop both stories in parallel, or save some of that material for another point in the series. The most precise description is therefore that the show changed the order of the main focus, not that it erased book two.

What Prime Video has confirmed about Season 2

  • Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis will be the romance in the spotlight.
  • Mika Abdalla returns as Allie and Stephen Kalyn returns as Dean.
  • Antonio Cipriano returns as John Logan.
  • India Fowler joins as Grace Ivers.
  • Phillipa Soo joins as Scarlett, and Shay Rudolph plays Dean's sister Summer Di Laurentis.
  • A message recorded from the Season 2 set was shown in September 2026, indicating that the new season was already in production.
  • The source material is Elle Kennedy's five-book Off-Campus series.

These details appear in Amazon's official Season 2 update. As of that update, the page does not provide a premiere date or explain the episode count or exactly how much material from each novel will be used.

How Season 1 helps explain the change

The Prime Video page for Season 1 describes the show through Hannah and Garrett's romance and lists eight episodes, with the first episode titled The Deal. In the novels, Hannah and Garrett are also the couple from book 1. By promoting Allie and Dean, Season 2 moves directly to the couple from book 3 as its romantic center.

That does not require the series to adapt one complete book per season. Grace's confirmed presence in Season 2 is the clearest reason not to treat the season number and book number as a fixed one-to-one match.

Which book to read before Season 2

If you only want to identify the source for the main couple, the matching novel is The Score, book three. If you plan to read the series and preserve publication order, the safest route remains The Deal, The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy.

So viewers who finish Season 1 and want to move into the books without jumping ahead can follow the original order. Anyone who only wants to understand why Allie and Dean lead Season 2 needs the core point: the adaptation selected the couple from book three as its main focus while characters from book two are also confirmed for the new season.
