Garbage collection in Aracaju by neighborhood: days, shifts and how to confirm the correct schedule

See the base schedule for home collection in Aracaju, confirmed exceptions and how to check the day and shift on your street before putting out the trash.

The safest way to know when to place household waste for collection in Aracaju is to use Emsurb's general schedule as a starting point and then check whether the neighborhood or street is on a specific route. The basic rule continues to appear in official sources: North zone on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; South zone on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; Center from Monday to Saturday. Santa Maria became an express exception in June 2025 and began to have collection from Monday to Saturday, during the day.

Until August 15, 2026, City Hall continued to publish holiday notices saying that home collection would take place without changing the schedule. This supports the use of the base schedule as a current reference, but it does not alone resolve the most important question for residents: which shift does the truck pass on my street? The Emsurb Service Guide informs the frequency by zone, but does not publish a complete list, street by street, with the shift times for all routes. Therefore, when the exact time makes a difference, direct confirmation with Emsurb remains the final step.

Base schedule for home collection in Aracaju

The Emsurb Service Guide, published in 2025, organizes home collection across large areas. For the North zone, it indicates Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For the South zone, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For the Center, it reports daily service, except Sunday. The same guide already incorporates the change in Santa Maria and also records daily collection, except Sunday, in this region.

An official news item from January 6, 2025 detailed the same logic: North and Mosqueiro zones on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; South zone on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The text also separated locations with service from Monday to Saturday and informed collection from Sunday to Sunday on the Orla da Praia de Atalaia and on the main avenues. On May 19, 2025, another update from City Hall once again confirmed the North, South and central region scheme.

In 2026, official announcements for Carnival, Aracaju's anniversary, Corpus Christi, São João, Political Emancipation of Sergipe and other holidays repeated that home collection would continue without changing the schedule. The most prudent reading, therefore, is this: the general structure remains valid, but exceptions and the turn of a specific route need to be checked when there is no recent and individual publication of the neighborhood.

Neighborhood by neighborhood: what is confirmed and what requires checking

The references below were revisited on August 15, 2026. When there is a recent and specific official source, it prevails. When the individual neighborhood information is old, the text uses the current rule per zone as support and makes the need for confirmation explicit.

Santa Maria: Monday to Saturday, daytime

The Santa Maria Complex has one of the clearest rules. The City Hall announced on June 16, 2025 that, from the 18th, home collection would take place from Monday to Saturday, always during the day. A new publication on June 20 confirmed that the schedule was now in place. The Emsurb Service Guide also records Santa Maria with daily collection, except Sunday.

More specific official source: City Hall of Aracaju and Emsurb, publication Garbage collection in Complexo Santa Maria becomes daily from the 18th, June 16, 2025, reinforced on June 20, 2025. Last editorial check: August 15, 2026.

North Zone and Mosqueiro: Monday, Wednesday and Friday

For the North and Mosqueiro zones, the reference frequency is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On January 3, 2025, during the regularization of the service, Emsurb described collection on these days and during the day as routine, citing neighborhoods and areas such as Jardim Centenário, São Carlos, Bugio, Santos Dumont, Soledade, Lamarão, Cidade Nova, Palestine, Porto Dantas and Bairro Industrial. The subsequent general guide maintains the same days for the North area.

This allows the daytime period to be used as a documented reference for several routes in this group, but not as a promise of a fixed timetable for any street in the North zone. Operational changes, subdivisions, condominiums and route reconfigurations may change the transit time without necessarily changing the collection days.

South Zone: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

The general rule in the South zone is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It appears in the Emsurb Service Guide, in the January 2025 regularization and in the May 2025 update. The problem is that this rule does not, in itself, inform the shift of each neighborhood or street.

For those who live in neighborhoods included in the South zone routes, the frequency on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday is the initial reference, unless there is a more specific official exception, as happens in Santa Maria. If the objective is just not to make a mistake on the day, this rule solves most cases. If the objective is to know whether the truck passes in the morning, afternoon or night, it is best to confirm the address.

Central region: Monday to Saturday

On May 19, 2025, the City Hall reported collection from Monday to Saturday in Grageru, Centro, Siqueira Campos, 13 de Julho, Inácio Barbosa, Santo Antônio, Cirurgia, Luzia, Orla, São José and Suíssa. A publication dated January 3 of that year recorded night operations in several of these neighborhoods during the collection regularization, including Cirurgia, Inácio Barbosa, 13 de Julho, Luzia, Santo Antônio, São José, Siqueira Campos, Suíssa and Grageru.

The point of attention is on the turn. The frequency from Monday to Saturday has the most recent official confirmation; the night shift appears as a documented operational reference, but the Service Guide does not transform this information into a current table of shifts by neighborhood. Therefore, anyone who needs to know when to put the bag on the sidewalk should confirm the route of the street itself, instead of assuming that the entire central region follows the same schedule.

Atalaia Beach edge and main avenues: pay attention to the perimeter

The official publication of January 6, 2025 states that collection on Orla da Praia de Atalaia and the main avenues is carried out from Sunday to Sunday. The May 19 update includes the expression Orla in the list of the central region served from Monday to Saturday. The two formulations do not accurately describe the same street perimeter.

In practice, the reliable information is that the Orla da Praia de Atalaia strip and main axes may be serviced more frequently than the internal streets of a neighborhood. Living in Atalaia, for example, does not automatically mean being on the daily route to the coast. For an address close to Avenida Santos Dumont, the tourist strip or a connecting road, it is worth asking Emsurb to confirm the exact route.

Aruana: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as a reference; confirm shift

Aruana appears in a municipal publication from July 2025 as a neighborhood in the South zone. Applying the current Emsurb rule, this points to Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Older specific official sources on household collection in Aruana also record the same days, which gives consistency to the reference.

What should not be automatically carried over from old pages is the time. Publications from 2019 and 2020 even reported daytime shifts for Aruana complexes and subdivisions, but I did not find, in the current official sources consulted, a new individual page that reconfirms this same shift for all streets in 2026. Thus, days: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as the best available reference. Shift: confirm with Emsurb for exact address.

Current source of support: Emsurb Service Guide and municipal publication of July 10, 2025 that locates the Aruana Subdivision in the South zone. Old specific sources only serve to check the recurrence of days, not to fix the current time. Last editorial check: August 15, 2026.

Jabotiana: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as a reference; confirm the street route

On Jabotiana, searches often bring up old pages that seem very specific. In 2017, Emsurb published a change of route for part of the neighborhood and informed Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 7am, to a delimited route. In 2019, another municipal page recorded home collection at Jabotiana on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. These documents help to understand the origins of the information that continues to circulate, but should not be treated as a timetable for 2026.

The frequency is compatible with the current rule in the South zone, but the shift and route require confirmation, especially in condominiums, complexes and sections that already had their own itineraries. The detail from 2017 is precisely a warning against the automatic use of an old page: it spoke about part of Jabotiana, not the entire neighborhood.

Historical reference source: Emsurb, publication Emsurb informs change in garbage collection in Ponto Novo and part of Jabotiana, from June 7, 2017, and municipal update from July 15, 2019. Current support rule: Emsurb Service Guide. Last editorial check: August 15, 2026.

Leite Neto and Ponto Novo: confirm directly

Leite Neto is a good example of divergence between official updates. The news of January 6, 2025 placed the location among those served from Monday to Saturday. The May 19 update, when listing central neighborhoods with this frequency, did not mention Leite Neto. Ponto Novo appeared in the night operation on January 3, but was not included in the central list published in May.

When two official pages from different times do not show the same list of neighborhoods, it is risky to fill in the gap by deduction. For Leite Neto and Ponto Novo, the most reliable guidance is to inform Emsurb of the full address and ask for the regular home collection schedule, with days and shift.

How to confirm the day and shift on your street

Emsurb expanded its service channels in September 2025. Residents can call 3021-9908 or use 3021-9999, which also receives contact via WhatsApp. The Ombudsman's Office operates from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm. It is also possible to register the demonstration through the AjuInteligente platform, on the Aracaju City Hall website. Requests generate a protocol, which makes it easier to follow up on a complaint or request for information.

To avoid a generic answer, provide the neighborhood, street name, number or approximate section and a reference point. Say that the question is about regular home collection and ask for two separate pieces of information: what are the days of the route and what is the changeover shift. If the truck fails to pass on a scheduled day, use the same channels to register the incident.

This precaution is especially useful in areas with condominiums, subdivisions, neighboring streets, commercial corridors and regions that have already undergone a change of route. Emsurb's own monitoring system monitors compactors in real time and records location and time of passage, according to a municipal publication from June 2025.

Domestic collection is not selective collection, rubble or Cata-Treco

One of the causes of confusion in searches is finding a true schedule, but from another service. Home collection is the regular route for common household waste. Selective collection has its own operation. In April 2026, the City Hall reported service from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 3pm, with the possibility of requesting the inclusion of the address through the Emsurb Ombudsman.

Cata-Treco also does not follow the home collection schedule. The schedule is published weekly and travels through specific neighborhoods to collect useless objects and bulky materials. In May 2026, for example, Emsurb published a weekly itinerary with days, neighborhoods, starting point and service ranges. Therefore, finding Aruana, Inácio Barbosa or another neighborhood in a Cata-Treco post does not mean that it is household waste day.

Ecopoints form another structure. In 2026, City Hall reported nine units destined for recyclable materials, disused furniture, construction waste and electronics. Emsurb's Service Guide highlights that recycling bins are not a destination for common household waste.

Debris, furniture, pruning and recyclables must not be mixed in the bag placed for home collection as if all waste followed the same logistics.

How to avoid old pages and out-of-context timelines

When searching by neighborhood name, prioritize the most recent official publication that specifically deals with home collection. An old page may continue to rank well in search even after a change of route. Jabotiana shows this risk clearly: there is a 2017 page describing changes to only part of the neighborhood. Santa Maria shows the opposite movement: anyone using a page prior to June 2025 may lose the change to collection from Monday to Saturday during the day.

The date alone is not enough either. It is necessary to check which service is being described. A 2026 page on selective collection or Cata-Treco is newer than a 2025 page on home collection, but it does not replace the household waste schedule. The name of the service, the neighborhood, the perimeter served and the date must be read together.

When two official sources differ, use the more specific and more recent one only if it deals with the same service and the same location. If there is still doubt, confirmation by the Ombudsman is safer than completing the information using geographic logic or comments on social networks.

Practical rule to not make a mistake during the day

Start with the general frequency: Norte and Mosqueiro, Monday, Wednesday and Friday; South, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; Center, Monday to Saturday. Then look for a specific exception for the neighborhood. Santa Maria, for example, is Monday to Saturday during the day. For Orla, Leite Neto, Ponto Novo, Aruana, Jabotiana and other places where the perimeter or turn is not perfectly resolved in the current sources, confirm the street with Emsurb.

This sequence avoids two common mistakes: placing rubbish based on an old page and confusing home collection with selective, rubbish or Cata-Treco. The sources used in this content were last revised on August 15, 2026. As operational routes may change, this check date should be considered part of the information, not an editorial detail.
