Free markets in Aracaju: days, times and addresses by neighborhood - and how to confirm changes to holidays

See the regular schedule of Aracaju's street markets, with times and addresses, and find out how to confirm anticipations, suspensions or changes to holidays.

To find out which street market in Aracaju is taking place next day, the best starting point is Emsurb's regular schedule. It runs from Tuesday to Sunday and informs the shift, time, address and neighborhood. But this calendar should not be treated as immutable: holidays and special dates can bring forward, suspend or maintain a fair, according to a decision published by City Hall.

The itinerary below uses as a basis the Emsurb Services Guide available on the municipal portal and applies a subsequent update already made official for the Costa Nova fair, in Aruana. When there is a divergence that has not yet been clarified by a permanent official statement, it appears explicitly to avoid an old list being presented as certainty.

Monday: there is no regular fair listed by Emsurb

The Emsurb Service Guide does not list a regular street market on Mondays. If you are planning to purchase at the beginning of the week, the next option on the calendar is the Batistão fair, on Tuesday morning. During holiday weeks, however, a fair on another day may be brought forward to Monday, so it's worth checking official announcements before heading out.

Tuesday: Batistão fair, on the 13th of July

Batistão, 13 de Julho neighborhood: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Rua Vila Cristina, next to Batistão. It is the only regular Tuesday market in the Emsurb guide.

Wednesday: Augusto Franco, Orlando Dantas and Dom Pedro

Augusto Franco, in Farolândia: morning and afternoon, from 6am to 8pm, at Praça Industrial João Rodrigues Cruz, according to the Emsurb Service Guide.

Orlando Dantas, in São Conrado: afternoon, from 1pm to 8pm, at Praça Dário Ferreira Nunes, Rua B3.

Dom Pedro, in the José Conrado de Araújo neighborhood: afternoon, from 1pm to 8pm, on Rua Juiz Mário Almeida Lobão. Do not confuse this Wednesday fair with the Dom Pedro I fair on Sunday, which takes place elsewhere.

Thursday: Santos Dumont in the morning and Jabotiana in the afternoon

Santos Dumont: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Rua Major Aureliano.

Jabotiana: afternoon, from 1pm to 8pm, on Rua Projetada 2. Thus, Thursday is one of the days on which the schedule allows you to choose between a morning market and another at the end of the day.

Friday: highest concentration of fairs on the regular schedule

On Friday morning, from 6am to 1pm, the guide lists the Suíssa fair, on Rua Leonel Curvelo and Rua João Rocha Sobrinho; that of São José, in Largo do Carro Quebrado; that of the Médici complex, on Rua Deputado Matos Teles and Avenida Adelbrando Franco Menezes, in the Luzia neighborhood; that of Jessé Pinto Freire, on Rua Lindalva Silva Dantas, in Ponto Novo; Sol Nascente, on Rua José Pachêco, in Jabotiana; that of Castelo Branco, on Rua Coronel João Gonçalves, in Ponto Novo; and that of Agamenon Magalhães, in the median of Avenida São Paulo, in the José Conrado de Araújo region.

In the afternoon, from 1pm to 8pm, there is the Lamarão fair, in the Lamarão Catholic Church square, and the Costa Nova fair, in Aruana.

The location of Costa Nova deserves attention because it changed after the publication of the guide. The City Hall informed that, as of December 12, 2025, the fair left Rua Praia de Aruana and

went to Rua Eliza Correia de Oliveira, in the square next to the Mar de Aruana II condominium. The statement maintained the performance on Friday afternoons; Therefore, the regular hours of 1pm to 8pm in the guide remain the reference until further official change.

Saturday: seven fairs in the Emsurb Service Guide

The official guide lists, every morning and from 6am to 1pm, the Surgery fairs, on Rua Nossa Senhora das Dores; Santa Tereza, on Rua Professora Virgínia Cardoso Souza, Praça das Mães, in the Aeroporto neighborhood; 18 do Forte, on Rua Cabo Jordino; São Carlos, on Avenida Santa Gleide; Santo Antônio, on Avenida Juscelino Kubitscheck; Grageru, on Rua Mariquinha Seixas Dória; and Marivan, in Largo Central.

There is, however, a recent divergence that deserves caution. A local publication on May 30, 2026, attributing the data to Emsurb, cited Mosqueiro among the seven Saturday markets and did not mention Marivan. As a permanent statement confirming this replacement was not found among the official documents consulted, anyone intending to go specifically to Marivan or Mosqueiro must reconfirm with Emsurb before traveling.

Sunday: Santa Maria, Jardim Esperança, América, Bugio and Dom Pedro I

Santa Maria: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Avenida Principal, close to GBarbosa.

Jardim Esperança, in Inácio Barbosa: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Rua Júpiter.

America: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Cuba Street and B Street.

Bugio: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on Rua Comércio 5.

Dom Pedro I, in the José Conrado de Araújo region: morning, from 6am to 1pm, on the central median of Avenida São Paulo.

Holidays do not have a single rule: the fair can change, be suspended or operate normally

The 2026 announcements show why it's not safe to assume what will happen just by looking at the day of the week. During Holy Week, the fairs that would take place on Friday were brought forward to Thursday, maintaining the usual times, while the Costa Nova fair was not held that week. During the São João holiday, the Augusto Franco fair was brought forward from Wednesday to Tuesday, from 6am to 3pm, and the Dom Pedro and Orlando Dantas fairs did not take place on that Wednesday.

On other dates, City Hall may maintain the schedule. On the May 1, 2026 holiday, for example, Friday markets were announced at the usual times. And on the Tiradentes holiday, on April 21, 2026, the Batistão fair was suspended. In other words: the holiday, in itself, does not inform whether the fair opens, changes days or stops taking place.

How to confirm your schedule before leaving home

In the week of a holiday, optional event, election or major event, first look for recent notices from the Aracaju City Hall News Agency and Emsurb. City Hall usually publishes specific notes with changes to markets and fairs when there is a temporary change.

The Emsurb Service Guide informs the Ombudsman's contact channels via the 1DOC system, telephone number (79) 3021-9908, WhatsApp (79) 3021-9999 and email Ouviria.emsurb@aracaju.se.gov.br. The service provided is from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 5pm. For a Saturday or Sunday fair during a holiday week, the ideal is to confirm by Friday.

Why you can find different lists on the internet

Part of the confusion comes from the evolution of the service itself. The street markets page on the municipal portal is dated 2017 and organizes the locations mainly by shift, while the Emsurb Service Guide provides numerical schedules and a more detailed list. In addition, there are subsequent changes, such as the relocation of the Costa Nova fair in December 2025.

Therefore, a useful list needs to separate two things: the regular schedule, which serves as a basis for planning the week, and temporary exceptions, which need to be checked when there is a holiday or recent announcement. If the destination is a fair for which there are conflicting sources, such as Marivan and Mosqueiro on Saturday, direct confirmation with Emsurb is safer than choosing the latest version from an unofficial guide.

What to consider as a practical reference

Use the Tuesday to Sunday calendar above for your normal routine. On holidays, eves and weeks with major events, confirm the official schedule before traveling. And if the address has recently changed, choose the newest official release over an old static page. This sequence reduces the risk of arriving in the right neighborhood on the wrong day, or at the old address of a market that has been relocated.
