EA SPORTS FC 27 launches worldwide on September 25, 2026, but comparing the Standard, Ultimate, and Ultimate Plus editions requires close attention to the calendar. As of September 22, Ultimate Plus is no longer available for new purchases because its sales window ended on August 31. Standard and Ultimate remain available for pre-order through September 24, with meaningful differences in early access, FC Points, Premium Passes, and bonuses for modes such as Football Ultimate Team, Career, and The Grounds.
Standard, Ultimate, and Ultimate Plus: quick comparison
| Edition | Game access | FC Points and Premium Pass | Main deadline | Status on Sep. 22 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Full game from Sep. 25 | No FC Points bundle or Premium Pass as a core edition benefit | Pre-order through Sep. 24 | Available |
| Ultimate | Up to 7 days of early access, with full access from Sep. 18 | Up to 6,000 FC Points in three drops and the Season 1 Premium Pass | Pre-order through Sep. 24; regular purchase from Sep. 25 | Available |
| Ultimate Plus | Up to 7 days of early access, with full access from Sep. 18 | Up to 10,000 FC Points in five drops and Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5 | Available only from Jul. 23 to Aug. 31 | Window closed |
EA states that all three editions include the complete FC 27 experience. The main differences are the extras and when the player can start. The official reference for content and deadlines is EA's FC 27 editions and release dates page.
What the Standard Edition includes
Standard is the entry point to the full game. General access begins on September 25. Players who pre-order by September 24 receive bonuses mainly tied to Career, The Grounds, and FC 26.
- Pre-Order Challenges in Career.
- Three ICONs or Heroes for Career.
- A 5-Star Coach and 5-Star Youth Scout.
- An exclusive The Grounds sweatsuit, a Tier 3 AMP inspired by Mbappe, and two double AXP consumables for 10 matches on supported platforms.
- A 92+ OVR ICON Player Item for EA SPORTS FC 26, which is sold separately.
For players who do not need to enter before launch and do not want to pay for an edition centered on FC Points and a Premium Pass, Standard focuses on the full game plus the pre-order bonuses still valid through September 24.
What changes with the Ultimate Edition
Ultimate adds early access and a larger content bundle. EA lists full access from September 18, up to seven days before the worldwide launch. For buyers in the final stretch of pre-orders, the edition remains available through September 24 and moves to regular sale on September 25.
- Up to 6,000 FC Points delivered in three monthly drops.
- Season 1 Premium Pass.
- An additional Player Evolution slot in Football Ultimate Team.
- Pre-Order Challenges, a pre-season boost, and three ICONs or Heroes in Career.
- A 5-Star Coach, Youth Scout, and Senior Scout.
- Five additional slots to create Live Manager Challenges.
- The Grounds content on supported platforms.
There is an important difference between the early pre-order period, which ended on August 31, and the current pre-order window. Some extra bonuses, including the 85+ OVR International ICON Player Item in FC 27, were tied to Ultimate pre-orders made by August 31. Buyers after that date should not assume that every older pre-order list is still valid.
Ultimate Plus: what it included and why the deadline matters
Ultimate Plus was the edition with the largest Football Ultimate Team package, but EA limited its availability to July 23 through August 31, 2026. Therefore, on September 22 it works as a comparison reference, not as a normal new-purchase option.
- Up to 10,000 FC Points in five monthly drops.
- Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5.
- An 85+ OVR International ICON Player Item and a direct Hall of FUT player pick, subject to offer conditions.
- An additional Player Evolution slot in Ultimate Team.
- A broader package of Career benefits and The Grounds content.
Ultimate Plus also had platform restrictions: it was not offered on Nintendo platforms or the Epic Games Store. EA also says an Ultimate copy cannot be upgraded to Ultimate Plus. That makes the deadline especially important because the edition does not work as an add-on that can be purchased later.
FC Points are not delivered all at once
The totals advertised for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus are distributed in installments. Ultimate offers up to 6,000 FC Points in three monthly drops. Ultimate Plus offered up to 10,000 in five. According to EA, the first eligible drop is connected to the first login and later drops are scheduled for the 15th of each month. There are also deadlines for starting the process and receiving the full advertised total.
This matters because the headline number does not mean the entire FC Points balance is available on day one.
FC 27 Lite is free, but it does not replace the paid editions
EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite arrives on September 25 as a free, limited preview. EA lists selected modes such as Kick-Off, while its help center also mentions Learn to Play, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons, with availability subject to territory and changes. Lite lets players try part of the experience and upgrade later, but it is not equivalent to the full game in Standard, Ultimate, or Ultimate Plus. See EA's FC 27 Lite help page.
EA Play provides a 10-hour trial, not the same thing as buying FC 27
EA Play members get a 10-hour trial of the Standard Edition starting September 18. The subscription also provides a 10% discount on eligible EA digital purchases, but the trial has a time limit and should not be confused with ownership of the full game. EA explains the benefit on its EA Play page for FC.
EA Play Pro on PC is another subscription model that provides access to premium editions of selected titles under the service's terms. It is different from buying a Standard or Ultimate license and depends on the current subscription conditions.
How to choose between Standard and Ultimate during launch week
In practice, the choice currently available comes down to Standard and Ultimate. Standard provides the full game at the September 25 launch and keeps pre-order bonuses through September 24. Ultimate adds currently active early access, installment-based FC Points, the Season 1 Premium Pass, and additional Ultimate Team and Career content.
Before purchasing, check three things: whether you will actually use the Ultimate Team benefits, whether access before September 25 still has value for you, and which bonuses remain valid on the exact purchase date. Also check your platform store because price, currency, and availability can vary by region and storefront.
Platforms and final notes
Standard and Ultimate are planned for the EA app, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Some features vary by platform. EA notes, for example, that The Grounds is not available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Eligible PlayStation and Xbox purchases also include Dual Entitlement under the conditions described on EA's Dual Entitlement page.
Because bonuses depend on purchase date, the list shown by the store at checkout should be the final reference. For buyers on September 22, 23, or 24, the most relevant comparison is Standard versus Ultimate, since the Ultimate Plus window closed weeks before launch.
