The Alagoas Military Fire Department recruitment process has effectively been reset by Notice No. 7 – CBM/AL, dated September 4, 2026. Issued in response to a court decision, the amendment changes four areas that require candidates to act: the age rule, reserved places for candidates with disabilities (PcD), a new fee-waiver window, and a substantially revised timetable. Applications reopen on September 18, 2026 and run through October 26, 2026; the objective and written exams are now scheduled for January 24, 2027.
What changed in the 2026 CBM-AL recruitment process
| Issue | Previous rule | Rule under Notice 7 |
|---|---|---|
| Age | The general rule required candidates to be 18 by enrollment and no older than 30 by the application deadline, with an exception worded for members of CBM-AL itself when entering the QOEM officer track. | The 18/30 general rule remains, but the exception now refers to members of any state military corporation, regardless of the federative entity of origin. For other candidates, the maximum-age reference follows the new application deadline, October 26, 2026. |
| Disability quota | The previous vacancy table separated open competition and PPIQ places, without a dedicated PcD column. | The notice now reserves 5% of vacancies for candidates with disabilities and restructures the allocation by position, adding documentation rules, a biopsychosocial assessment and the possibility of reasonable accommodations. |
| Fee waiver | The original waiver window took place in June 2026. | A new fee-waiver request window runs from September 18 to 27, 2026, from 10:00 on the first day to 18:00 on the last day, Brasília time. |
| Exams | The previous timetable listed the exams for October 11, 2026. | The objective and written exams have been rescheduled for January 24, 2027, and the exam-location notice is scheduled for January 8, 2027. |
Age: who is covered by the new wording
The general requirement remains 18 years of age by enrollment in the training course and, for candidates outside the exception, no more than 30 years old by the application deadline. Because applications now remain open until October 26, that date becomes the reference point in the revised timetable for the maximum-age rule.
The key change is the exception. Notice 7 no longer refers only to members of the Alagoas Military Fire Department; it now covers members of any state military corporation, regardless of which state they come from. The wording does not refer to the Brazilian Armed Forces, so a federal military member should not assume that the exception applies simply because they are military personnel.
If age was the reason a candidate could not apply earlier, the practical step is to reread item 3.1(e) of Notice 7 and use the reopened application period to determine whether the new wording changes eligibility.
PcD: a 5% reservation and a dedicated procedure now apply
Notice 7 added a specific section for candidates with disabilities and reserves 5% of the vacancies in the recruitment process — including vacancies created while the competition remains valid — for this group. Among immediate openings, that produces 11 PcD vacancies; the reserve list also contains 11 PcD positions.
| Position | Open competition | PcD | PPIQ | Total immediate | PcD reserve list |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| General Staff Officer | 16 | 2 | 4 | 22 | 2 |
| Firefighter QPBM/1 | 78 | 6 | 21 | 105 | 6 |
| Firefighter QPBM/2 | 33 | 3 | 9 | 45 | 3 |
To compete for a PcD vacancy, uploading a report alone is not enough: the candidate must select in the application system that they wish to compete for reserved vacancies and upload the required document during the application period. As a rule, the medical or disability-characterization report must have been issued within the 36 months before the final application date. For irreversible impairments that constitute a permanent disability, and for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the notice provides for indefinite validity of the report as long as the content requirements are met.
Accepted file formats are PDF, PNG, JPEG and JPG, with a maximum of 2 MB per image. The notice also allows requests for reasonable accommodations and assistive technologies for exams and other stages. In the physical fitness test, those accommodations are subject to applicable law and the technical feasibility assessed by Cebraspe; the evaluation criteria and minimum performance standards remain those established for the competition.
After the physical fitness test, a PcD candidate who is deemed fit will be called for an official biopsychosocial assessment. The revised wording also states that elimination for a clinical condition must be based on a reasoned medical opinion and that a candidate whose disability has been confirmed should not be eliminated solely because a listed disabling condition applies when that condition is compatible with the duties of the position.
Fee waiver: the window reopens, but the base-notice criteria still apply
Notice 7 reopens the waiver request period but does not create a new list of eligible groups. Candidates must still follow item 6.4.8 of the base notice. The listed situations include:
- unemployed candidates under the state legislation cited in the notice;
- people enrolled in federal, state or municipal social-assistance programs;
- voluntary blood donors;
- workers earning up to one minimum wage per month;
- bone marrow donors;
- people summoned and appointed by the Electoral Court of Alagoas to serve during elections, subject to the notice requirements;
- people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, with the report required by the notice.
Documentation differs by category. Several categories require a specific declaration and proof of at least two years of residence in Alagoas, so candidates should not assume that documents used for one waiver category are sufficient for another.
During the reopening, waiver requests can be submitted from September 18 to 27. The provisional result is scheduled for October 13, appeals for October 14 and 15, and the final result for October 26. Candidates whose waiver is denied and who still wish to remain in the competition must observe the final payment date of October 28, 2026.

Checklist for candidates applying now
- Go to the official Cebraspe competition page from 10:00 on September 18 and select the correct position and qualification.
- If requesting a fee waiver, submit the request by 18:00 on September 27 and upload exactly the documents required for the category that applies to you.
- If competing as PcD, select that option in the system and upload the report during the application period; uploading a report without making the declaration in the system does not by itself secure reserved-vacancy status.
- If you need specialized assistance, a reasonable accommodation or assistive technology, request it within the system deadline and attach the relevant supporting document.
- After completing the application, keep the receipts and check photo validation on October 27 and 28.
- If your fee waiver is not granted, confirm payment by October 28.
- Return to the competition page in January: the exam-location notice is scheduled for January 8 and the exams for January 24, 2027.
Checklist for candidates who had already applied before the amendment
- Open the application tracking page and confirm the status of the earlier application. Notice 7 reopens deadlines but does not order every previously completed application to be resubmitted.
- If age was an issue, review the new exception. Members of state military corporations from other states are the group directly reached by the broader wording.
- If you now intend to compete as PcD or request specialized assistance under the new rules, use the reopened period to select the option and upload the required documentation.
- If you need to request a fee waiver in the new window, use September 18–27 and follow the separate result and appeal cycle.
- Do not make a second payment merely because the calendar reopened: first check the status of your application and fee in the system. October 28 is the final payment date provided for applications in the reopened period.
- Save new receipts or confirmations for any change you make and follow the dates in Notice 7 rather than the previous timetable.
Which notice should candidates consult from now on
To understand the changes, the central document is Notice No. 7 – CBM/AL. For rules that were not amended — job requirements, exam structure, syllabus and other procedures — candidates must still consult the base notice and its amendments on the official Cebraspe page. The CBM-AL competitions portal also gathers institutional documents for the recruitment process.
The practical takeaway is straightforward: anyone who saved dates from June, July or October should replace them with the revised calendar. This reopening is not just an extension; it adds the PcD reservation, broadens the wording of the age exception and creates a new sequence of results, appeals and preparation milestones leading to the January exams.
