The 2026 Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) public competition already has a core set of official information, but it still does not have a complete timetable. What is confirmed is authorization for 146 positions: 116 for Tax Analyst (Analista-Tributário) and 30 for Tax Auditor (Auditor-Fiscal). Receita Federal also said it is working toward contracting the exam organizer in October and publishing the notice in December 2026. Those two milestones, however, are planning estimates rather than immutable dates.
On September 4, Receita Federal began market research to support the hiring of the institution that will organize and run the competition. The official status is therefore still one of planning and selection of the future organizer. Receita Federal itself states that registration dates, exam dates and the effective timetable will be published in the opening notice.

Organizer in October and notice in December: what “expected” really means
Receita Federal's communication uses estimate language: the organizer contract is expected in October and the notice in December. That is different from saying those dates are already legally fixed. The hiring process still depends on completion of the administrative steps now under way.
The Ministry of Management authorization also established that the notice should be published within six months of the authorization's publication and that there must be a minimum two-month interval between publication of the notice and the first exam. This helps explain why it is incorrect to turn the expected notice date into a supposed exam date. Even if the notice is published in December, the exact first-exam date will only be official when it is published.
What is still not confirmed
At this point, there is no official basis to state definitively:
- the name of the organizing institution;
- the registration period;
- the date of the objective or written exam;
- a final timetable for all stages;
- the final syllabus for each subject;
- administrative details that depend on the organizer and the opening notice.
The official Receita Federal competition FAQ states that registration and exam dates will be announced in the opening notice. It also explains that the official syllabus will be defined in the notice and that the timetable used during procurement remains an estimate until it is consolidated with the chosen institution.
What changes once the organizer is contracted
Selecting and contracting the organizer matters because that institution becomes involved in the operational organization of the competition. Receita Federal notes, for example, that a proposed set of subjects may be revisited with the contracted institution before becoming official in the notice.
In practical terms, contracting the organizer removes one of the main planning uncertainties, but it does not replace the opening notice. The notice is the document that should bring together the definitive rules for registration, dates, stages, the official syllabus and the other conditions of the competition.
When will registration open and when will the exams take place?
The official answer today is straightforward: that has not yet been announced. Receita Federal says the registration period and exam dates will be published in the opening notice.
One parameter is already established by the authorization: the first exam must respect a minimum two-month interval after publication of the notice. That can rule out calendars that would violate the interval, but it does not allow anyone to state a specific exam month or day before the notice is issued.
How to follow the competition without confusing estimates with confirmations
To avoid rumors, follow two official pages: the Receita Federal announcement about hiring the organizer and the FAQ for the 2026 Receita Federal Public Competition. When the organizer is contracted or the notice is published, those channels should reflect the change in stage.
For now, the most accurate reading is: the 146 positions are authorized; organizer selection is under way; October and December are official planning estimates; registration and exam dates are still not official.
