Quick answer: Brazil's 2026 Prova Nacional Docente (PND, National Teacher Exam) will be held on September 20, 2026. Each participant's test site is available in the PND System, on the Registration Confirmation Card released on September 9. Under official Brasília time, gates open at 12:00 p.m., close at 1:00 p.m., the test starts at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.. The official notice instructs participants to arrive at the test site shown on the card at 12:00 p.m.
Where to check your PND 2026 test site
Inep states that the Registration Confirmation Card contains the test-site address and other application details. To check it, access the PND System with the credentials linked to your Gov.br account.
On the card, check carefully:
- registration number;
- test date, time and location;
- approved specialized assistance, when applicable;
- use of a social name, when requested and approved;
- specific test-day instructions.
The card release date was moved to September 9, 2026, by an amendment to Notice No. 67/2026. Inep also makes participants responsible for checking the card in advance and monitoring their test site. The notice recommends bringing the Confirmation Card on test day, but the document required for identification is a valid official photo ID.

PND 2026 times on September 20
| Stage | Official Brasília time |
|---|---|
| Gates open | 12:00 p.m. |
| Gates close | 1:00 p.m. |
| Test starts | 1:30 p.m. |
| Test ends | 7:00 p.m. |
These times follow the official time in Brasília, Federal District. Anyone taking the test in a different time zone should convert the schedule before leaving home. Do not use 1:00 p.m. as your target arrival time: the notice itself instructs participants to arrive at the site shown on the Confirmation Card at 12:00 p.m., and entry is no longer allowed after the gates close.
Chronological checklist: from the night before to entering the room
The night before
- Open the PND System and recheck the address, date and time.
- Plan your route and leave a margin for traffic, public transportation, parking or other delays.
- Set aside an official original photo ID.
- Set aside at least one black-ink ballpoint pen made of transparent material.
- Keep the Confirmation Card accessible. The notice recommends bringing it.
- If you take a snack or medication, organize it so it can be presented for inspection by the room supervisor.
- If you plan to use an accepted digital ID, check in advance that the official app opens correctly and that your device will have enough battery. Inep is not responsible for technical failures that prevent presentation of a digital ID.
Before leaving home
- Confirm that you have a valid ID, a transparent black pen and, preferably, your Confirmation Card.
- Review the route and estimated travel time.
- Disable alarms and reminders on electronic devices you are bringing. During the test, they must remain switched off inside the belongings envelope.
- Do not rely on a copy, photo or printout of your identity document: the notice requires an official original document or an accepted digital ID shown in its official app.
At the test site: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and close at 1:00 p.m. Present a valid identification document and follow the test staff's instructions. The notice instructs participants to arrive at 12:00 p.m., which reduces the risk of missing entry because of delays or difficulty finding the assigned room.
Between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
After the gates close, participants must wait in the room until authorization to begin the test at 1:30 p.m. From 1:00 p.m. onward, restroom visits are allowed only when accompanied by a proctor.
Which identification documents are accepted
For Brazilian participants, the notice requires an official original photo ID. The listed documents include identity cards issued by the authorities specified in the notice, legally valid professional council or association IDs, passport, driver's license (CNH), employment card (CTPS) issued after January 27, 1997, the National Identity Card (CIN) and the National Teacher Card of Brazil (CNDB). Digital e-Título, CNH, RG, CIN and CNDB are also accepted when shown in their respective official apps.
For foreign participants, the notice includes, among others, a passport, National Migration Registration Card (CRNM), Provisional National Migration Registration Document (DPRNM), an equivalent civil identity document issued by a Mercosur member or associated state under the applicable agreement, and the digital migration documents specified in the notice.
Items not accepted as valid identification include, for example, a police report, application protocols, birth certificate, marriage certificate, printed voter card, student ID, copies even if notarized, and digital documents shown outside the official apps. See the complete list in Notice No. 67/2026.
Pen, phone, watch and other items: what to know
Answers must be transferred to the Answer Sheet with a black-ink ballpoint pen with a transparent body. The notice provides for a belongings envelope for items that may not remain loose during the test.
Items that must remain stored under the notice's rules include the Confirmation Card itself after entering the room, a printed Attendance Declaration, pencils, mechanical pencils, erasers, rulers, correction fluid, books, notes, watches of any kind and electronic devices such as phones, tablets, smartwatches, calculators, headphones and similar devices.
Phones and other electronics must be switched off, with functions and alarms disabled, inside the sealed and identified belongings envelope, kept under the desk until the participant permanently leaves the test site. The notice provides for elimination if an electronic device emits any sound during the test even while inside the envelope, except for expressly stated exceptions.
What the test contains and how long it lasts
The test runs from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., for a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes. PND 2026 includes a General Teacher Education section with 30 multiple-choice questions and one written-response question, plus a Specific Component section with 50 multiple-choice questions in the participant's field.
The notice requires participants to remain in the room until 3:30 p.m. to complete identification and attendance-record procedures. The Test Booklet may only be taken out during the final 30 minutes before the end of the test, subject to the notice's conditions.
After September 20: dates not to confuse with the day-of checklist
- September 24: release of test booklets, the scoring rubric for the written question, preliminary answer keys for the objective questions and the expected response for the written question.
- September 24 and 25: appeal window for the preliminary objective answer keys and the expected response to the written question.
- October 18: scheduled retest date, subject to the cases and rules in the notice; it is not an automatic second sitting for any absence.
