If you are finishing high school in the public school system in 2026, there is a high chance that you will take Enem at the same school you attend. But that still cannot be treated as a confirmed address. Inep itself uses the word “estimate”: around 80% of students completing high school in the public school system are expected to take the exam at their own school. Individual confirmation comes later, on the Enrollment Confirmation Card.
That distinction resolves the main question. The 80% figure describes what Inep expects for the group of students completing high school in the public school system; it does not work as a guarantee for each student. As of August 27, 2026, the official Enem FAQ still stated that the card would be made available on a date to be announced by the Institute.
Inep's 80% figure is an estimate, not an individual promise
The official wording is specific: the estimate is that “around 80%” of students completing high school in the public school system will take Enem at the same school they attend. This means two important things. First, the figure refers to final-year public-school students, not to everyone registered for Enem. Second, a group estimate does not allow anyone to determine in advance where a specific person will be assigned.
In practice, being a final-year student at a public school increases the possibility that your own school will also be your test location, but it does not eliminate the possibility that you will be directed to another site. Even if your school is among the test sites, the 80% figure does not replace the individual information that will appear on the card.
Inep also states that, for students completing high school in public-school systems who need to travel, the Ministry of Education is studying how to implement logistical support for transportation between municipalities. The wording matters: this is a measure under study, not a guarantee of transportation for every student who is assigned to a location outside their school.
Why the chance of taking Enem at your own school increased in 2026
The change is connected to Enem's new role in basic education assessment. In 2026, the exam became part of the Sistema de Avaliação da Educação Básica (Saeb). To increase participation among students completing high school in the public school system, the government adopted measures such as automatic registration for this group and an expansion of test sites.
In the FAQ published in May, Inep said it would expand test locations by around 10,000 schools. On August 18, the Institute returned to the subject when it announced the Rede de Interlocutores Escolares, created to support the expansion of exam administration and monitoring in schools. In that update, Inep said Enem 2026 would have more than 10,000 new test locations and highlighted that the exam would be administered in more than 10,000 state public schools.
This expansion is what makes the 80% estimate plausible. With many more public schools taking part in the exam operation, more final-year students can be assigned to their own school environment. Even so, expanding the network does not turn every public school into a guaranteed test location for all of its students.
Choosing the test municipality is not the same as choosing the school
Another common source of confusion comes from the registration process for students completing high school in the public school system. For 2026, this group began to receive automatic registration based on data provided by education authorities. The student still had to confirm participation and provide additional information, including the test municipality, foreign-language choice and, when needed, accessibility resources.
Choosing the municipality, however, is not the same as choosing the exam address. The official FAQ separates these stages: the student provides the municipality when confirming participation, while the individual test location is disclosed later on the Confirmation Card.
So, if you selected the same municipality where you study and heard that your school will host Enem, one step is still missing: checking whether your name was actually assigned to that address.
How to confirm your Enem 2026 test location
The official channel is the Enem Participant Page (Página do Participante), at enem.inep.gov.br/participante. When the Enrollment Confirmation Card is released, it will show the exam location, as well as the date, time, registration number, information about specialized assistance or use of a social name when applicable, the foreign-language choice and exam instructions.
As of August 27, 2026, Inep had not yet given a specific date in the FAQ for the release of that card. The official guidance was still to follow the Participant Page and the Institute's channels. Therefore, before the document is published, any statement that a student will take the exam at a particular school should be treated only as an expectation, not as confirmation.
When the card becomes available, check the full address, not just the name of the institution. Schools with similar names, different units in the same school system or addresses in nearby neighborhoods can cause confusion. For the participant, the location shown on the card is the one that counts.
My school said it will be a test site. Is that enough?
No. A school may be part of the exam network and, even so, the information that confirms each participant's destination is the Confirmation Card. The same caution applies to messages from classmates, class groups and informal notices.
The practical rule is simple: use the 80% figure to understand that taking the exam at your own school is a very significant possibility in 2026, but use the card to decide where you actually need to go.
What if the card shows another school or another location?
In that case, follow the address on the card. The national estimate does not create an individual right to remain at the school you attend. If travel is necessary, follow any specific guidance from Inep, the Ministry of Education (MEC) and your education authority, especially because the government has said it is studying logistical support for some final-year students who need to travel between municipalities.
It is also prudent to check the route in advance as soon as the address is published. This helps prevent you from discovering on exam day that the location is a different unit from the one you had imagined while preparing.
When will Enem 2026 take place?
The regular Enem 2026 administration is scheduled for November 8 and 15. The approaching exam dates do not change the rule about the location: the individual address must be checked on the Confirmation Card as soon as Inep releases it.
What you can consider confirmed today
At this point, three points are supported by the official guidance. First, Inep estimates that around 80% of students completing high school in the public school system will take Enem at their own school. Second, the exam network was expanded substantially in 2026, with more than 10,000 new test locations. Third, none of these figures replaces the Confirmation Card when it comes to knowing the address for a specific participant.
In one sentence: 80% is the estimate for the group; the card is the confirmation for you.
