UEFA has already published the base calendar for the 2026/27 Champions League, and the main distinction for those who want to plan is simple: a round date is not the same thing as a game already scheduled with an opponent and time. In the update on August 14, the entity consolidated the eight rounds of the league phase, the knockout windows and the final on June 5, 2027, in Madrid.
At this time, it is also confirmed that the draw for the league stage will be on August 27th. It will define each club's eight opponents and which matches will be at home or away. The draw, however, should not be confused with the publication of the complete schedule for each match. For fans in Brazil, this difference avoids treating a window of two or three days as if it were the exact date of their team's game.
What UEFA has already confirmed and what still depends on scheduling
The official calendar already sets the windows for all rounds of the league phase and all knockout stages. UEFA informs, at the same time, that the published dates may change. The competition regulations treat the Match Calendar as binding, but provide mechanisms for confirmation and exceptional changes. In practice, the windows below are the current official reference; for travel, tickets or commitments that depend on a specific game, you still need to check the individual fixture when it is published.
The league phase will have 36 clubs. Twenty-nine enter directly and the remaining seven places come from the August play-offs. The final round of qualification has first legs on August 18th and 19th and return games on August 25th and 26th, so the full list of 36 participants will be finalized before the draw on August 27th.
August 27th draw: it defines opponents, not all times
According to the 2026/27 regulations, the 36 clubs are distributed into four pots of nine. Each team faces two opponents from each pot, totaling eight games, with four matches at home and four away. The draw itself determines the opponents and the status of home or visitor for each match.
This resolves an essential part of the calendar, but does not automatically transform the eight windows into an individual, fan-ready schedule. After the draw, UEFA also organizes the distribution of matches between the rounds and the scheduled times for each match. Therefore, a calendar published before August 27th may correctly inform the dates of the rounds and, at the same time, still not have the exact day and time of a club.
Champions League 2026/27 league stage dates
Round 1: September 8th to 10th, 2026. It is the only round of the league phase that, in principle, takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The window is defined; The combination of opponent, day and time for each club depends on the official schedule.
Round 2: October 13th and 14th, 2026. The second round returns to the Tuesday and Wednesday pattern. UEFA has already set the window, but it is not correct to choose one of the two days in advance for a match that does not yet have a published fixture.
Round 3: October 20th and 21st, 2026. The third round takes place just a week after the second, which creates a short sequence between European commitments in October.
Round 4: 3rd and 4th November 2026. This is the first Champions League window in November and marks the halfway point of each club's eight-match league stage programme.
Round 5: November 24th and 25th, 2026. The fifth round closes the second block of games in November for the competition.
Round 6: December 8th and 9th, 2026. It is the last round of the Champions League before the end of year break. The league phase, therefore, does not end in December: there are still two rounds left in January.
Round 7: January 19th and 20th, 2027. The competition returns at the beginning of the year with the penultimate round of the single classification.
Round 8: January 27, 2027. The last round is concentrated on a Wednesday. The regulations establish that, in principle, the games in this round are simultaneous at 9pm in UEFA's reference time, except for exceptions decided by the entity's administration. For the reader in Brazil, the local conversion must be done with the official information of the game and date, not by a fixed rule applied to the entire season.
When does the knockout start and when does it end
The knockout stage play-offs are scheduled for February 16 and 17, 2027, in the first matches, and February 23 and 24, in the return matches. This stage involves clubs that finish the league phase between 9th and 24th position.
The round of 16 will be played on March 9th and 10th, with the return games on March 16th and 17th, 2027. The top eight from the league phase enter directly into this stage, while the others classified come from the play-offs.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 6th and 7th, with the return matches on April 13th and 14th, 2027. The semifinals will have the first legs on April 27th and 28th and the return matches on May 4th and 5th.
The final will be on June 5, 2027, at the Estadio Metropolitano, in Madrid. It is the only knockout match played in a single game and also the only one of these dates that is already associated with a defined venue.
What is not yet finalized in the knockout stage
The dates for the knockout stages already appear on the official calendar, but the clashes will only exist after the league stage classification defines who advances and in what position. On August 14, UEFA itself still indicated the dates for the knockout stage draws as pending.
The 2026/27 regulations also increased the importance of final position in the league stage. Clubs in 1st to 8th place advance directly to the round of 16, while those in 9th to 24th go to the play-offs. The position in the table interferes with the switching fit and control advantages foreseen for the following phases. Therefore, knowing the date of the quarterfinals or semifinals does not mean knowing in advance who will play on each side of the bracket.
Timetables: there is a general rule, but this does not replace the official fixture
UEFA establishes the schedules for the play-offs. The regulations foresee, in principle, 9pm at the entity's reference time for the play-offs and the league phase, with selected matches at 6:45pm. In the knockout play-offs and round of 16, games can take place at 6:45 pm or 9 pm. Quarters, semi-finals and finals are, in principle, at 9pm, always with the possibility of an administrative exception.
These rules are useful for understanding the structure of the competition, but do not authorize filling in the timetable for a specific match in advance. Before the official fixture, the correct data is
the round window. After scheduling, the reader can use the official time of that game and only then convert to Brazil.
How to read the calendar in Brazil without mixing up the date, draw and time
To follow the Champions League in a practical way, it is worth separating four levels of information. First comes the round date, which is already published. Then comes the draw, which defines opponents and bosses. Then the fixture appears, which places each match on a specific day within the window. Finally, the official time allows the match to be converted to the Brazilian time zone.
This order is especially important because the season spans different months on the European calendar. A fixed time conversion used in September should not be automatically copied to January or April. The most reliable procedure is to always start from the official time already associated with the game and convert that specific date.
The official calendar at a glance
The league phase starts from September 8th to 10th, 2026 and ends on January 27th, 2027. The knockout stage starts on February 16th and 17th, goes through round of 16 in March, quarterfinals and the start of the semi-finals in April, ends the semi-finals in May and reaches the final on June 5, in Madrid.
The next really decisive milestone in transforming this general calendar into a club schedule is August 27th, the date of the league phase draw. Until then, any page that presents opponents, individual days or times of all games as if they were already confirmed is going beyond what UEFA has published. The round calendar exists; each team's complete fixture is the next step.
