Harry Kane needed only 98 matches to reach 100 Bundesliga goals. The milestone came in Bayern Munich's 7-0 win over Union Berlin on September 18, 2026, and put the England striker at the top of the competition's list for the fastest player to reach a century of goals. The previous record belonged to Dieter Müller, who had needed 129 matches.

The comparison shows the size of the gap: Kane reached the milestone 31 matches sooner than the former record holder. The Bundesliga itself noted that the margin is close to a full German league season.

How Harry Kane reached 100 goals

The 100th goal came from the penalty spot in the 39th minute and gave Bayern a 2-0 lead over Union Berlin. Kane scored again in the 54th minute, moved to 101 Bundesliga goals and helped the Munich side complete a 7-0 victory.

The milestone came in Kane's 98th league appearance since joining Bayern in 2023. According to the Bundesliga, he became the fastest player in the competition's history to reach 100 goals. Bayern Munich also confirmed the record.

The key point of the record is not simply reaching 100 goals, but doing so in fewer matches than any other player in Bundesliga history. Because 98 is 31 matches below 129, Kane created a substantial gap over the previous benchmark.

Kane's Bundesliga production numbers

Beyond the speed of reaching 100, his scoring rate helps explain the milestone. After the match against Union Berlin, the Bundesliga reported an average of one goal every 78.3 minutes since Kane's debut in the German league.

In his first three Bundesliga seasons, Kane scored 36, 26 and 36 goals. That total of 98 goals across three campaigns left him only two short of 100 before the start of the 2026/27 season. He also finished as the league's top scorer in all three seasons, a feat the Bundesliga says had never previously been achieved by a player in his first three campaigns in the competition.

Why the record stands out

The milestone combines volume and consistency. Kane did not need a long run of seasons to reach 100 goals and has maintained a high scoring output since his debut in Germany. The figure of 98 matches also makes the historical comparison straightforward because it directly measures how many appearances were required to reach the same 100-goal threshold.

The Union Berlin result added another detail: Kane did not finish the night on exactly 100. After the historic goal, he scored again and ended the match with 101 Bundesliga goals.
