Rock in Rio 2026: what you can and cannot bring into Cidade do Rock

Official rules limit food to five items per person, allow water in a plastic bottle up to 500 ml, and bar specific containers and objects during security screening.

Anyone going to Rock in Rio 2026 should separate two rules before packing a bag: the organizer limits food entry to up to five items per person and prohibits a range of containers and objects considered unsuitable for event safety. The most recent official guidance on the subject was published on August 20, 2026 and should be read together with the Terms and Conditions for entry and stay at Cidade do Rock.

Quick answer: what you can bring

  • Food: up to five items per person. The organizer gives preference to sealed industrially packaged foods, cut fruit in a transparent, non-rigid Zip Lock-type bag, and sandwiches packed the same way.
  • Water: a plastic bottle of up to 500 ml containing water is allowed. The August 20 guidance page specifically recommends a transparent plastic bottle, up to 500 ml, with a cap.
  • Personal items: the official list includes, among other examples, portable chargers within the stated size limit, rain ponchos, beach wraps or jackets, sunglasses, sunscreen within the stated limit, and non-professional portable cameras.
  • Security screening: everyone is subject to inspection at the entrance; unauthorized objects may be removed before access is granted.

How to bring food without increasing the risk of disposal

Item 5 of the Terms and Conditions sets a limit of up to five food items per person. It also makes clear that food in a quantity or condition suggesting commercial sale, or that poses a safety risk, is not allowed. The official guidance page adds that items must be for personal use and that gram or milliliter quantities should be compatible with personal use, without publishing a general weight table by food type.

TypeExample cited by the organizerFormat most aligned with the rule
Packaged foodCookies, toast, cereal barsBring it in its original, properly sealed packaging
FruitCut fruitPack it in a transparent, non-rigid Zip Lock-type bag
SandwichSandwichesPack it in a transparent, non-rigid Zip Lock-type bag
QuantityUp to five items in totalAvoid exceeding the limit; excess items may be discarded at the entrance

The rule describes these formats as preferred, not as a guarantee that any food within the numeric limit will be admitted. Final admission remains subject to security screening and the event's safety criteria.

Water, bottles, containers and cups: where confusion is most common

The explicit beverage exception is water. The Terms and Conditions allow a plastic bottle of up to 500 ml containing water and state that drinking-water fountains will be available inside Cidade do Rock. To follow the more specific guidance published in August, the safest choice is a transparent plastic bottle of up to 500 ml, with a cap.

Glass or metal bottles are barred regardless of capacity, as are bottles over 500 ml, rigid containers with lids — such as tupperware-style plastic containers —, thermal cups, glass or metal cups, and cans. Beverages other than water are also included in the prohibited-items list.

Main items barred at the entrance

GroupExamples from the official list
Containers and drinksGlass or metal bottles, bottles over 500 ml, rigid lidded containers, thermal cups, cans, and beverages other than water
Sharp or dangerous objectsWeapons, replicas that may be mistaken for weapons, knives, pocketknives, scissors, utility knives, tweezers, nail clippers, corkscrews, pointed objects and fireworks
Structures and storageTents, stools, chairs, umbrellas, foam coolers, coolers and other storage equipment
Imaging and electronicsSelfie sticks, professional cameras or cameras with detachable lenses, professional capture equipment, tripods, drones, laptops and tablets
Cosmetics and substancesSprays, flammable or corrosive substances, and items listed in the Terms such as perfumes, cosmetics and deodorants
Baggage and identificationLarge bags, suitcases or backpacks, and costumes, masks or accessories that make it difficult to identify the holder

The official list is longer. For that reason, an item not included in this condensed selection should not automatically be treated as allowed. If in doubt, check the official “O que pode e não pode levar pra Cidade do Rock” guidance page and the Terms and Conditions before leaving home.

Power banks, sunscreen and portable cameras

Some frequently searched items have specific rules. The official page says that portable chargers are allowed and permits more than one per person, provided each unit is no larger than the equivalent size of a mobile phone. Power banks larger than a mobile phone appear on the prohibited-items list.

Sunscreen is listed as allowed in containers of up to 100 ml or in stick form. Rain ponchos, beach wraps, jackets, sunglasses, portable fans and portable cameras are also listed as allowed; professional cameras or cameras with removable lenses are not. Selfie sticks are prohibited as well.

Medication and special food for medical reasons

The official accessibility FAQ provides separate guidance for people who need to enter with medication, insulin or special food for medical reasons. The organizer instructs visitors to bring a CID/medical report and an official photo ID, present them during screening and to security, and then go to the Accessibility Center after arriving at Cidade do Rock. The FAQ also states that support will be available, including refrigeration when necessary.
