The City of Porto Alegre has opened applications for the Porto Alegre Famtour Nov/2026, a familiarization trip for Brazilian tourism agents who already sell destinations in Rio Grande do Sul. The selection offers up to 30 spots, and the program will take place from November 10 to 12, 2026. Applications are free and, according to the City Hall announcement published on September 18 and Public Call Notice 006/2026, must be submitted by September 30.
The main point for anyone considering an application is to separate entry requirements from scoring criteria. At least two years of professional experience, proof of selling destinations in Rio Grande do Sul, covering your own travel to and from Porto Alegre, and full participation in the schedule are mandatory conditions. After the documentation review, the committee evaluates experience, commercial activity in Rio Grande do Sul, diversity of itineraries, potential to sell Porto Alegre, and participation in the regional tourism trade.
Who can apply for the Porto Alegre Famtour 2026
The public call is aimed at Brazilian tourism agents. To be eligible, applicants must meet all four conditions below:
- have worked professionally as a tourism agent for at least two years;
- prove that they sell tourism destinations in Rio Grande do Sul;
- fully cover the cost of traveling to Porto Alegre and returning to their city of origin, by land or air;
- be available to participate in the entire official famtour program.
The notice also establishes restrictions. Professionals directly involved in organizing the event, people who failed to meet obligations in previous promotional actions run by the SMDETE Tourism Coordination, and applicants with incomplete documentation cannot participate.
Which documents are required
The application is not merely an expression of interest. The notice requires documents proving professional activity and the ability to sell destinations in Rio Grande do Sul. The form must be submitted with:
- proof of the tourism agency's CNPJ registration;
- proof of active and regular Cadastur registration;
- a document proving at least two years of professional activity;
- a portfolio, promotional material, links, itineraries, or other documents showing the sale of tourism destinations in Rio Grande do Sul;
- an official photo ID;
- a signed Commitment Form based on the model in the sole annex to the notice.
The Selection Committee may request additional information. Missing any mandatory document results in disqualification of the application.
How the scoring system works
Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Tourism Coordination of the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development, Tourism and Events. The maximum scores add up to 100 points:
| Criterion | Maximum score |
|---|---|
| Professional experience beyond the minimum requirement | 20 points |
| Proven sales of destinations in Rio Grande do Sul | 30 points |
| Diversity of tourism itineraries sold in Rio Grande do Sul | 20 points |
| Potential to sell Porto Alegre as a destination | 20 points |
| Participation in actions and events of the regional tourism trade | 10 points |
The notice lists the maximum score for each criterion but does not specify intermediate scoring bands. Applicants can therefore see where the selection places the most weight, but they cannot calculate an exact final score from the published text alone.
In case of a tie, the criteria are applied in this order: longer time working in the sector, greater diversity of Rio Grande do Sul destinations sold, and finally the chronological order of application.
What the City covers and what the agent must pay
For selected participants, the organizers will cover part of the expenses during the official famtour period. The split is as follows:
| Covered by the organizers | Participant responsibility |
|---|---|
| Accommodation during the official period | Airfare or ground transportation to and from Porto Alegre |
| Meals included in the official schedule | Personal expenses |
| Local transportation during scheduled activities | Hotel extras |
| Admission to attractions and experiences included in the program | Expenses not included in the official schedule |
In practice, the benefit reduces costs inside Porto Alegre during the official schedule, but each professional must budget for travel from their city of origin and for any expense outside the planned program.
What is planned for the program
The preliminary program includes a guided city tour, technical visits to tourism attractions, visits to cultural and gastronomic venues, tourism experiences organized by the Tourism Coordination, networking with local tourism trade representatives, and institutional presentations about Porto Alegre.
The detailed itinerary will be sent to selected participants after the final result is announced. The notice allows changes to schedules, activities, and programming for operational, weather, or institutional reasons.
What selected participants must provide in return
Participation involves more than simply attending the trip. The notice sets obligations for selected agents:
- pay for travel to Porto Alegre and the return trip;
- participate in the entire official program;
- follow schedules, operational instructions, and rules of conduct;
- properly promote Porto Alegre through their channels and commercial activities;
- complete the famtour evaluation form at the end of the event;
- authorize institutional use of images captured during the event for promotional and institutional purposes.
An unjustified no-show or leaving the program early may prevent the professional from taking part in future promotional actions by the Tourism Coordination. In case of withdrawal, the organization must be formally notified at least five business days in advance. Vacated spots may be offered to applicants on the waiting list.
