Sotero dos Reis: how to check the final list of 96 selected applicants and what happens after the draw

Learn where to check the Sotero dos Reis final list, the difference between selected applicants and alternates, and how the apartment choice order works.

The final list for the Sotero dos Reis housing complex now identifies the 96 selected households for its 96 units in the Passo das Pedras neighborhood of Porto Alegre. The Municipal Housing Department, Demhab, said the list was published on September 23, 2026 in the Porto Alegre Official Gazette after the applicants' documentation files were validated by Caixa Econômica Federal. The same publication also includes the alternates in the process.

For anyone who took part in the selection, the key is to separate three things that may look similar but are not the same: the final selection list, alternate status, and the apartment choice order. The final list defines who is in the group of 96 selected applicants. Alternates appear on a separate list and should not be confused with that group. The September 24 draw, in turn, determines the sequence in which selected households choose from the available units, while observing accessibility priorities.

Where to check the final list of 96 selected applicants

The safest route is to use official channels. In the Demhab notice published on September 24, the City provides a link to the Porto Alegre Official Gazette. You can also open the Dopa edition referenced for the final list directly.

When checking the document, search for the full name and verify the heading of the annex or list where it appears. This helps avoid a common mistake: finding a name in an earlier list and treating that earlier status as the final decision.

In August, Demhab had published an intermediate stage with 126 names and each participant's status, including cases still compatible with pre-selection and cases disqualified after document review. That list was part of the verification and appeals process. The September 23 publication is later and should be used as the reference for identifying who is among the 96 finally selected applicants and who appears as an alternate. The August 10 notice is useful for understanding the history, but it does not replace the final list.

Selected, alternate and choice order: what is the difference?

TermWhat it means at this stageWhat the applicant should watch
Final selected applicantIs part of the group of 96 names validated for the housing complex.Should follow the choice-order draw and Demhab's official calls.
AlternateAppears on a separate list and, at that time, is not part of the group of 96 selected applicants.Any progress depends on a new official call or act. It is not safe to assume a call based only on position in the list.
Choice orderIs the sequence used for apartment selection among the selected applicants, under the rules announced by Demhab.Determines when each household chooses from the units still available, without turning the draw order into a new social-priority classification.

How the apartment choice-order draw works

Demhab scheduled the draw for September 24, 2026, starting at 9 a.m., with a live broadcast on the Department's Instagram account. According to the City, the order is organized by priority groups: first older adults and people with mobility disabilities, then people with other disabilities, and finally the general group.

Apartment selection follows the order defined by the draw and the units available at the time of each appointment. The City also said ground-floor apartments will be prioritized for older adults and people with mobility disabilities because of accessibility needs.

As of the check made on the morning of September 24, the official page already announced the draw and its rules, but the City's website did not yet show a published list with the drawn order. For that reason, any sequence circulating outside official channels should be treated cautiously until Demhab releases the result through a verifiable institutional publication, document, or channel.

What happens after the draw

Demhab has already announced the apartment selection schedule. On Friday, September 25, applicants drawn for housing units 1 through 50 are expected to choose their apartment at the Department's headquarters at Avenida Princesa Isabel, 1115. The City said beneficiaries will receive a WhatsApp invitation to attend.

On Monday, September 28, the remaining households are scheduled to choose their apartments. Because the available unit depends on a household's position in the order and on what remains available, families should follow their individual official call rather than relying only on forwarded messages from third parties.

How to check your status without mixing up older documents

  1. Open Demhab's most recent official publication about Sotero dos Reis.
  2. Use the Dopa link provided by the City and locate the final list.
  3. Search for your full name and identify whether it appears among the 96 selected applicants or on the alternate list.
  4. If you are among the selected applicants, follow the choice order released by Demhab and the WhatsApp call.
  5. Confirm the date assigned to your appointment before going to the Department's headquarters.

This distinction matters because the process has gone through several stages since the initial pre-selection, including document checks, scoring reviews, appeals, and Caixa validation. Demhab has explained that Porto Alegre's Minha Casa Minha Vida selection uses a point system that prioritizes households in situations of greater vulnerability. The scoring and selection criteria are available through official City channels.

Does the final list guarantee immediate apartment delivery?

No. The final list confirms the applicant's position at this stage of the housing selection process, but operational steps still remain, including the order draw, unit selection, official calls, and procedures required before handover. The City said it expects Sotero dos Reis to be delivered in 2026, but that statement is an administrative expectation, not a guaranteed individual handover date for each household.

To avoid outdated information, always use Demhab's latest publication, the Porto Alegre Official Gazette, and official notices received directly by the beneficiary.
