Death Cab for Cutie in 2027: new U.S. dates, cities, presale and general onsale

A guide to Death Cab for Cutie's 21 U.S. shows in 2027, including cities, venues, presale and general onsale timing, plus the Austin exception.

Death Cab for Cutie announced a new North American leg of the I Built You A Tower World Tour for 2027 on September 17, 2026. For fans planning to buy tickets in the United States, the two main milestones are straightforward: the artist presale begins on September 23, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time in each city, and the general onsale begins on September 25 at 10 a.m. local time. Austin is the key exception. The band says all Austin tickets will go on sale on a separate date to be announced later in 2026, and the venue is still unconfirmed.

The announcement covers North America and includes Canada, but this guide separates the U.S. dates so Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Montreal are not mistakenly treated as American shows. The U.S. portion has 21 shows in 19 cities. Atlanta and Boston each get two nights. Honolulu comes before the mainland run in January, while the main continental stretch starts in Nashville on March 11 and ends in Asheville on April 16.

When the presale and general onsale begin

The band's official announcement sets two common times for the new leg: Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time for the presale, and Friday, September 25, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time for the general onsale. Fans can sign up for presale access through the official Death Cab for Cutie website.

The most important phrase is local time. There is no single nationwide U.S. onsale time. Nashville, Houston and Dallas, for example, are in a different time zone from New York, Boston and Miami Beach, while Honolulu follows another clock. To avoid joining late, use the ticket page for your selected city as the final reference on sale day.

Some ticket pages may also list extra venue, promoter or cardholder presales. The Nashville Ticketmaster page, for example, shows event-specific offers in addition to the artist presale. Those windows should not be assumed to apply to every city. The common schedule in the band's announcement is the artist presale on September 23 and the general onsale on September 25, with Austin as the stated exception.

Austin requires a different buying plan

The March 23, 2027 show in Austin, Texas is on the itinerary, but its venue is still listed as TBA. The band says all Austin tickets will have their own sale date, to be announced later in 2026. Fans targeting Austin therefore should not expect the September 23 or September 25 windows to apply.

The practical move is to sign up for the Austin show through the official website and watch for the venue and ticketing update. The announcement says subscribers will be the first to know when those details are available. Until then, any specific venue or Austin onsale time should be treated as unconfirmed.

For the March and April dates, the published itinerary marks Swapmeet as support. The Honolulu date is not marked with that support notation in the published itinerary.

Which cities are outside the U.S. portion

The same announcement includes three Canadian shows between Detroit and Boston: April 3 in Niagara Falls, Ontario at OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino; April 4 in Ottawa, Ontario at HISTORY; and April 5 in Montreal, Quebec at MTELUS. They are part of the North American leg, but they are not U.S. dates.

That distinction matters when comparing flights, hotels and border requirements. A trip built around Detroit and Boston, for example, crosses a three-show Canadian sequence in the band's calendar, but those dates are not part of the U.S. ticket market.

How to choose a city before tickets go on sale

If more than one city works for your trip, pick a first choice before the presale opens. Atlanta has back-to-back nights on March 14 and 15, and Boston has two shows on April 7 and 8. Those pairs can provide date flexibility without changing cities. New York brings the band to Radio City Music Hall on April 13, while Nashville opens the mainland run and Asheville closes it.

  • Choose a primary city and a backup. This avoids making travel decisions while the ticket queue is already moving.
  • Confirm the event time zone. The 10 a.m. time is based on the city hosting the show, not the buyer's location.
  • Enter through the official link. Use the band's website to reach the authorized seller and reduce confusion with resale pages.
  • Read the event limits. Ticket caps, payment methods and cardholder offers can vary by event and venue.
  • Do not treat presale access as a guarantee. Inventory can be divided among different sale windows, and availability can change during the process.

What not to mix with the 2027 onsale

The September 17 announcement also lists remaining 2026 concerts in Europe, Japan, Australia and Chicago. Those belong to an earlier part of the schedule and should not be confused with the newly announced 2027 sale windows. The cleanest way to plan is to use only the 2027 dates above, then verify the individual event page for the city you want.

This distinction is especially useful because the official post combines the 2027 announcement with a lower section titled Remaining 2026 Tour Dates. That 2026 section provides schedule context, not a list of newly announced tickets opening on September 23 and 25.

Ticket week checklist

  1. Choose your city and a backup before September 23.
  2. Sign up for artist presale access on the band's official website.
  3. Open the specific event page and confirm its local time.
  4. Review your account, phone number and payment method with the authorized seller.
  5. On September 23, use the artist presale if you have access.
  6. If you miss out, check the general onsale again on September 25 at 10 a.m. local time.
  7. For Austin, ignore this schedule and wait for the separate date announced by the band.
