Círio 2026: procession calendar from October 7 to 26 and the official schedule changes

Check dates, times, departure points and changes for the 2026 Círio processions, including the conflict between the general PDF and the June official update.

To plan for the 2026 Círio de Nazaré processions, the most important step is to use the June 11 notice from the Diretoria da Festa de Nazaré as the reference for changes made after the schedule released at the beginning of the year. That notice, presented as an “updated calendar,” moved the Cicloromaria to October 17 and the Romaria dos Corredores and Romaria da Acessibilidade to October 24. It also confirmed the Romaria da Juventude on October 17, the Romaria das Crianças on October 18, the Procissão da Festa on October 24, and the Recírio on October 26.

There is, however, one important complication: on September 10, 2026, the general schedule PDF available on the official website still showed the earlier arrangement for some post-Círio processions — Corredores and Acessibilidade on the 17th and Cicloromaria on the 24th. Because the June notice is later and labels its list as an “updated calendar,” it is the most recent and specific official reference for those three changes. Anyone traveling to Belém should check the official website again close to the event, especially for departure points.

What changed after the first 2026 schedule

In January, the organizers published an arrangement with Romaria dos Corredores and Romaria da Acessibilidade on October 17, while Ciclo Romaria appeared on October 24. On June 11, a new notice specifically changed that block: Cicloromaria on Oct. 17 at 8:00 a.m.; Corredores on Oct. 24 at 6:00 a.m.; Acessibilidade on Oct. 24 at 8:00 a.m. The same notice confirms Romaria da Juventude on Oct. 17 at 4:00 p.m., departing from Paróquia de Santa Cruz.

Procissão da Festa remains on Oct. 24 at 4:00 p.m. The calendar released in January had already explained that some post-Círio changes were tied to adjustments for Brazil's 2026 election calendar. The June notice adds that the later adjustments were designed to improve organization, participation, safety, and comfort for pilgrims.

Why the PDF and the June notice do not match

The general 2026 Círio schedule PDF is useful for times and locations of processions not affected by a later correction: for example, it lists the Ananindeua/Marituba transfer at 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 9, Romaria Rodoviária at 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 10, Romaria Fluvial at 9:00 a.m., Moto Romaria at 11:30 a.m., Trasladação at 5:30 p.m., and Círio at 7:00 a.m. on Oct. 11.

For the post-Círio block, however, the downloadable file still shows the earlier arrangement. The June 11 notice explicitly presents itself as a calendar update and is later. The safest reading is therefore to apply the June changes over the PDF rather than ignore the newer notice. This is an editorial inference based on the chronology of the official sources; final confirmation remains with the Diretoria da Festa de Nazaré.

Another confirmed change: the Traslado dos Carros arrival

On July 1, the organizers published a specific update for the first official procession. The Traslado dos Carros on October 7 keeps its 8:00 p.m. departure in front of the Basílica Santuário, but will now arrive at Complexo Porto Futuro 2. The organizers stated that the route is approximately five kilometers and is expected to take about two hours. The carriages will also be available for public viewing in front of the Basilica during the day, starting at 7:00 a.m.

How to use the calendar without missing an update

  • For October 7 to 11: use the general schedule times and apply the July arrival-point change for Traslado dos Carros.
  • For October 17 to 24: prioritize the June 11 notice because it corrects the allocation of Cicloromaria, Corredores, and Acessibilidade and gives the Juventude departure point.
  • For departure points that are not final: do not assume a location in an older PDF will remain unchanged. This matters especially for Procissão da Festa and processions whose dates were moved.
  • During the week of each procession: check the organizers' website and news again for traffic, safety, gathering-point, and operational updates.

Which dates have multiple processions

From a transport perspective, two Saturdays deserve special attention. On October 10, the calendar includes Romaria Rodoviária at 5:30 a.m., Romaria Fluvial at 9:00 a.m., Moto Romaria at 11:30 a.m., and Trasladação at 5:30 p.m. On October 24, according to the June update, there are Romaria dos Corredores at 6:00 a.m., Romaria da Acessibilidade at 8:00 a.m., and Procissão da Festa at 4:00 p.m.

That does not mean it will be easy to attend all of them on the same day: departure points and travel routes differ. Anyone planning to participate in more than one should factor in travel time, road closures, and pre-procession gathering.

What this calendar does not include

This guide is limited to the processions and the immediately relevant celebrations needed to understand their times. It does not mix in grandstand rules, pilgrimage-group registration, Círio Musical concerts, or the full liturgical program. Those services can have their own rules and updates.

Official sources to recheck close to the date

Because there is a documentary discrepancy between the general PDF and the June update, use this calendar as a planning baseline, not as a substitute for an official check on the eve of each procession.
