The 2026 Círio de Nazaré calendar received an important update after the initial program was released. On June 11, the Diretoria da Festa de Nazaré (DFN) changed the placement of three processions: the Cicloromaria moved to October 17 at 8 a.m., while the Romaria dos Corredores moved to October 24 at 6 a.m. and the Romaria da Acessibilidade to October 24 at 8 a.m.. The Círio, the Trasladação and the other processions mentioned in the notice remained on the same dates.
This matters because the 2026 program PDF, published before the update, still shows the previous distribution of those three processions. For them, the June notice is the most recent official reference. Times for the other processions below follow the official program and later operational notices issued by the organizers.
What changed in the 2026 Círio calendar
The June update reorganized the weekend after the Círio and the final Saturday of the Nazaré festivities. The DFN said the adjustments followed an evaluation and planning process aimed at improving organization, participation, safety and comfort for pilgrims.
| Procession | Earlier schedule in the PDF | Updated calendar |
|---|---|---|
| Cicloromaria | October 24, 8 a.m. | October 17, 8 a.m. |
| Romaria dos Corredores | October 17, 6 a.m. | October 24, 6 a.m. |
| Romaria da Acessibilidade | October 17, 8 a.m. | October 24, 8 a.m. |
The Romaria da Juventude remains on October 17 at 4 p.m., but the June notice adds an important operational detail: in 2026 it will depart from Paróquia de Santa Cruz on Avenida Almirante Barroso. The Romaria das Crianças remains on October 18 at 8 a.m.; the Procissão da Festa on October 24 at 4 p.m.; and the Recírio on October 26 at 8 a.m.
Chronological calendar of the main 2026 Círio de Nazaré processions
The table below combines the DFN's updated notice with the times of processions that were not changed in the official 2026 program. Where a later official notice provided newer operational information, that was also taken into account.

Why the PDF and the June notice may look contradictory
The program PDF was released before the June 11 update. It still places the Romaria dos Corredores and Romaria da Acessibilidade on October 17 and the Cicloromaria on October 24. The later Diretoria do Círio notice reverses that distribution: Cicloromaria on the 17th; Corredores and Acessibilidade on the 24th.
In practice, use the newer notice for those three processions. For the Círio, Trasladação, Romaria das Crianças, Romaria da Juventude, Procissão da Festa and Recírio, the same notice says the calendar remains on the stated dates. Routes, gathering points and traffic instructions can still receive operational updates closer to the events, so checking the official site before leaving is advisable.
Another 2026 change: the Traslado dos Carros finish
In addition to the rearrangement of the October 17 and 24 processions, the DFN announced on July 1 a location change for the Traslado dos Carros: it will now finish at Complexo Porto Futuro 2 in Belém. The departure remains at 8 p.m. in front of the Basílica Santuário de Nazaré. According to the organizers, the route is about five kilometers long and is expected to take roughly two hours. The update is available in the official Traslado dos Carros notice.
How to follow the schedule without getting confused
- For Cicloromaria, Romaria dos Corredores and Romaria da Acessibilidade, prioritize the official June 11, 2026 notice.
- Use the official PDF for times of processions that were not changed, while comparing it with later DFN news.
- For the Traslado dos Carros, also consider the July update about the new finish at Porto Futuro 2.
- Close to the event, confirm routes, road closures and departure points on the official Círio website, because operational details may change without altering the main procession date.
The key 2026 calendar takeaway is straightforward: October 17 brings together the Cicloromaria and Juventude; October 24 brings Corredores, Acessibilidade and Procissão da Festa. The Círio takes place on October 11, and the Recírio closes the procession calendar on October 26.
