Registration for FEBReS 2026, the 2nd Student Festival of Rap Battles and SLAM in the São Paulo Municipal Education Network, has been extended through September 30, 2026. Participation is free and registration is completed online. The main eligibility rule is straightforward: in 2026, students enrolled in the City of São Paulo Municipal Education Network may register within the categories announced by the Municipal Department of Education.

For students and schools deciding whether to take part, three questions matter most: who is eligible, which category applies, and what must be prepared before submitting the form. The Department also states that SLAM is the only competitive format in this edition. Rap Battles remain part of the festival, but as performances and award activities.

Who can register for FEBReS 2026

The Municipal Department of Education lists five categories for municipal school students:

  • Student I: students in grades 1 through 5 of elementary school in the RMESP.
  • Student II: students in grades 6 through 9 of elementary school in the RMESP.
  • Student III: students in years 1 through 3 of upper secondary school in the RMESP.
  • Student Libras: deaf students in the RMESP performing in Brazilian Sign Language, known as Libras.
  • EJA: students in Youth and Adult Education in the Municipal Education Network and in CIEJAs.

The 2026 regulations reinforce that registration in every category is for students enrolled in the City of São Paulo Municipal Education Network. This differs from the previous edition, which also included categories open to people without a school affiliation. For the 2026 registration, the current edition's published rules apply.

Registration deadline

The Department extended the deadline on September 23. The new final date is September 30, 2026. Schools, students and families that were still considering participation therefore have additional time to complete the registration.

Registration is free. Applicants can use the FEBReS 2026 online registration form. The official extension notice is available on the Municipal Department of Education website.

How to register without missing a step

  1. Confirm enrollment in the Municipal Education Network. The 2026 edition requires the participant to be a student in São Paulo's municipal school network.
  2. Identify the correct category. It depends on the school level, participation in Libras or enrollment in EJA/CIEJA.
  3. Read the regulations before submitting. The document contains the detailed rules for the edition and should be used when questions arise about documents, stages and participation conditions.
  4. If the participant is under 18, obtain authorization from a legal guardian. The 2026 regulations state that this authorization must be completed and attached to the registration form.
  5. Complete the online form before the deadline. Review the information before sending it and keep any confirmation generated by the system.

The full FEBReS 2026 regulations are especially important for minors and school teams helping students register.

Do SLAM and Rap Battles have the same role in 2026?

No. The Department made an important distinction for this edition. SLAM is the only competitive format. Rap Battles are part of the festival as performances and award activities, with an emphasis on exchanging knowledge and valuing spoken-word expression.

This distinction avoids a common misunderstanding: taking part in the festival does not necessarily mean competing for a ranking in a Rap Battle. For students who want to compete, the format identified by the organizers in 2026 is SLAM.

What about the schedule for later stages?

The extension notice published by the Department confirms the new registration deadline and directs participants to the full regulations. The official notice also advises contacting the Regional Education Directorate for the relevant area when questions remain.

To avoid treating old or partial information as a current rule, dates for pre-selection, regional stages, venues and times should be checked in the regulations and in communications from the responsible regional office. Schools coordinating student participation should continue monitoring these channels after the form is submitted.

What is confirmed and what still needs checking

Official information confirms that registration closes on September 30, is free, applies to the five published categories for Municipal Education Network students, and that SLAM is the only competitive format in 2026. The requirement for legal guardian authorization for participants under 18 is also published.

Operational details after registration, such as the schedule for each stage, activity locations and regional instructions, may depend on the regulations and territorial communications. The practical course is to complete registration by the deadline and follow the official Department and Regional Education Directorate channels.
