The São Paulo Municipal Department of Education (SME-SP) has opened a new register for people interested in a possible temporary hiring process for the position of Information, Culture and Sports Analyst – Level I – Physical Education, working at Unified Educational Centers (CEUs) where vacancies are available. Applications run from September 17, 2026 until 3:59 p.m. on September 22, 2026, exclusively online. The position has a 40-hour workweek and the monthly pay announced by SME is R$ 9,440.82.
The most important point for applicants is that this is a register for possible hiring. Being ranked does not automatically create a right to a position. Any call will depend on CEU staffing needs, the Regional Education Directorate (DRE) selected by the applicant and the ranking order.
Who can join the CEU Physical Education register
The register is intended for applicants to the position of Information, Culture and Sports Analyst – Level I – Physical Education. For any eventual hiring, candidates must prove the requirements established in SME Notice No. 487 of September 10, 2026.
The core professional requirements include a higher-education diploma in Physical Education or Sports, or a full teaching degree in Physical Education, duly registered and accompanied by the academic transcript, as well as registration with the Regional Physical Education Council (CONFEF/CREF). At the hiring stage, the notice also requires a minimum age of 18, regular electoral status and, when applicable, military-service compliance, in addition to the other conditions and documents listed in the notice.
Five percent of vacancies are reserved for candidates with disabilities. Anyone wishing to compete under this reservation must declare it during registration and attach the required medical report. The notice also allows transgender people and travesti candidates to use a social name, provided it is declared during registration.
How to apply and why the DRE choice matters
Applications must be submitted only through the SME Hiring website, using a gov.br account. The email used in the process will be the same one associated with the gov.br account and cannot be changed within the application. It is therefore advisable to test access and verify the registered email before applications open.
Each candidate may select only one Regional Education Directorate. This choice matters because rankings will be organized by DRE, and any initial call for hiring procedures will be issued by the DRE that received the application, subject to CEU staffing needs and ranking order.
São Paulo is divided into 13 DREs: Butantã, Campo Limpo, Capela do Socorro, Freguesia/Brasilândia, Guaianases, Ipiranga, Itaquera, Jaçanã/Tremembé, Penha, Pirituba/Jaraguá, Santo Amaro, São Mateus and São Miguel. SME maintains an official page with the Regional Education Directorates and their coverage areas.
In practical terms, applicants should choose a DRE by considering the territories and CEUs where they could realistically work, because the initial ranking and call are linked to the selected regional office. Even so, the notice states that, after hiring, a professional may be reassigned to another CEU within the same DRE or even to a CEU in another DRE, depending on administrative needs.
How candidates are ranked
Candidates will be ranked in descending order of points based on declared and documented service time or professional experience. SME Notice No. 487 establishes the following criteria:
- 2 points per day of public service in the City of São Paulo in the specific positions or functions listed in the notice;
- 1 point per day of public service at state, federal or other municipal levels in corresponding functions;
- 1 point per day of professional experience in private institutions or companies in activities related to the area described by SME.
When professional experience is used for scoring, the applicant must attach the certificate specified in the notice during registration. The document must have been issued within the previous 12 months and must state the period of experience in days, counting service up to July 31, 2026 at the latest.
For ties, SME first considers longer service or experience with the City of São Paulo, followed by longer experience in a private institution or another public entity. If the tie remains, the age criteria described in the notice apply.
Register schedule: application, ranking and appeal
| Stage | Date | What to follow |
|---|---|---|
| Applications | September 17–22, 2026, until 3:59 p.m. on the final day | Online form and submission of required documents on the hiring website. |
| Preliminary ranking by DRE | September 28, 2026 | Publication on the SME Portal and in the São Paulo City Official Gazette. |
| Appeals | September 29–30, 2026 | Submission to the DRE selected in the application. |
| Appeal results and final ranking | October 8, 2026 | Publication on the SME Portal and in the Official Gazette. |
| Register validity | 1 year from the final ranking | May be extended for another year at the Administration's discretion. |
An important appeal rule is that the review will be based on the documents and information submitted during registration. New documents cannot be added at the appeal stage. This makes checking every attachment before submission especially important.
Being on the register is not the same as being called or hired
SME explicitly states that being ranked does not guarantee hiring. Calls for the initial hiring procedures will be published in the São Paulo City Official Gazette by the respective DREs and will occur according to CEU staffing needs.
If a hiring occurs, it will be temporary and may last for a maximum of up to 12 months. A candidate who is called but fails to respond or meet the notice requirements will be considered to have withdrawn.
The hiring process will be conducted by the DRE responsible for the application, taking staffing needs and ranking order into account. After the final ranking, applicants should therefore continue monitoring the SME Portal, the Official Gazette and communications from the selected DRE.
Which documents deserve attention before applying
Not every hiring document must be submitted during registration, but some items directly affect scoring or participation in specific lists. Before sending the application, check in particular:
- active access to the gov.br account and the correct registered email;
- selection of the single DRE in which you want to be ranked;
- professional experience certificate, if you have service time to score;
- medical report, if applying under the disability reservation;
- personal and professional information entered accurately.
If later called, the documentation is broader and includes identification, CPF tax number, electoral documentation, banking and address documents, background certificates, medical fitness certificate, diploma, academic transcript and CREF registration, among other items. The notice requires documents to be presented according to its rules and states that document-submission receipts or provisional protocols will not be accepted.
What to do before September 17
- Read the full notice. The official SME announcement about the register summarizes the main dates and links to the governing notice.
- Test your gov.br account. Login issues must be resolved with the platform's support, and the application email will be the one registered there.
- Choose the DRE. Because only one regional office can be selected, check its coverage area and consider where you could realistically respond to a call.
- Prepare experience records. If you plan to claim service-time points, make sure the certificate follows the required model and deadlines.
- Review everything before submitting. The appeal stage does not allow new documents to be attached.
