Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival are both confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, but they are at very different stages. Persona 4 Revival already has a console-specific date: May 20, 2027. Persona 6, meanwhile, was confirmed for Switch 2 during the September 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct, but it still has no announced release date.
That distinction is the key to reading the announcements without turning expectations into facts. Below, each game's status is separated into what has officially been confirmed, what has already been shown, and what remains open.

What the September 9 Nintendo Direct actually changed
The September 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct put both games in the same showcase, but the announcements delivered different kinds of news. Nintendo's official page lists Persona 6 as coming to Switch 2 without a date, and Persona 4 Revival as available on May 20, 2027.
For Persona 6, the main news was confirmation of Switch 2 as a platform. When SEGA announced the game in June 2026, its official platform list included Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5 and Steam, with the date still undecided. Nintendo's confirmation expanded that list, but did not lock down the schedule.
For Persona 4 Revival, the Switch 2 announcement added an even more concrete planning detail: Nintendo's version arrives 91 days after the versions scheduled for February 18, 2027 on other platforms. The official Persona 4 Revival website records the two dates separately.
Persona 6: what is already factual
SEGA officially revealed Persona 6 on June 8, 2026 as the next mainline entry in the series, developed by P-Studio/ATLUS. The company described a completely new story set in a never-before-seen location and kept the release date as “TBD.”
Nintendo's newer messaging adds a little more shape: Persona 6 retains the series' familiar blend of daily life, social bonds and supernatural adventure, built around a standalone story and a new cast. That also means the “6” should not be read as a requirement to play Persona 3, 4 or 5 first.
The game's listing on the Brazilian PlayStation Store reinforces that entry-point framing: it describes school life in modern Japan, friendships, romance, rumors and supernatural incidents, while stating that each numbered Persona entry tells a standalone story.
What is still missing for Persona 6 on Switch 2
- Release date or window: no official day, month or year has been published for the game.
- Simultaneous launch: confirmation that Persona 6 is coming to Switch 2 does not say whether that version releases alongside PS5, Xbox and PC.
- Price, editions and pre-orders: there is no Switch 2-specific commercial package confirmed in the official sources reviewed.
- Physical format: a physical Switch 2 edition has not been confirmed.
- Technical performance: resolution, frame rate, download size and other Switch 2 details have not been published.
In other words, “confirmed for Switch 2” answers the platform question, but it does not answer the schedule or the conditions of that version.
Persona 4 Revival: why its status is much more settled
Persona 4 Revival is already at a more advanced communication stage. SEGA confirmed in June a February 18, 2027 release for Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5 and Steam. The Nintendo Switch 2 version was later officially dated for May 20, 2027.
The project is officially presented as a remake of Persona 4 Golden, not a simple remaster. Its official website describes graphics, UI, combat and cutscenes rebuilt through a modern lens, along with quality-of-life improvements and added content.
Official pages already detail systems such as Social Links, school-life activities, the passage of time and exploration of the world inside the TV. They also show combat changes, including guarding that can stun Shadows and interactions with enemies affected by status ailments. For Switch 2, the official site lists both physical and digital versions and includes Brazilian Portuguese among the screen languages.
Why Persona 4 Revival has two release dates
There is no contradiction between February 18 and May 20, 2027. The first date applies to the originally announced platforms; the second applies specifically to Nintendo Switch 2. The reason for that 91-day difference has not been officially explained, so any technical, commercial or production rationale would be speculation.
What has been shown, and what should not be inferred
Persona 4 Revival already has trailers, a substantial official website, and detailed descriptions of systems, characters and editions. There is enough material to understand the remake's direction and some of its gameplay changes.
Persona 6 also has a teaser and official store pages, but its communication remains intentionally broader: a new story, new cast, new setting, daily life and supernatural adventure. That is not enough to conclude, for example, what the main city will be, the full dungeon structure, total length, complete cast, release date or Switch 2 performance before further announcements.
Which one has a Switch 2 date?
Persona 4 Revival does: May 20, 2027. Persona 6 does not: it is confirmed for the console but remains undated.
For players following only the Switch 2 calendar, the practical consequence is simple: Persona 4 Revival can already be placed on a release schedule; Persona 6 should still be treated as a confirmed project without an official window. A future date should only be added once ATLUS, SEGA or Nintendo publishes it.
What to watch for in the next announcements
- an official date or release window for Persona 6;
- confirmation of whether Switch 2 launches simultaneously with the other platforms;
- Persona 6 pricing, editions, pre-orders and any physical Switch 2 version;
- resolution, frame rate and download size for both games on the console;
- more Persona 6 gameplay footage, allowing confirmed systems to be separated from expectations based on earlier games.
Until then, the safest reading is to keep the projects in separate boxes: Persona 4 Revival is a dated, well-detailed remake; Persona 6 is a new mainline entry confirmed for Switch 2 but still without a release date.
Status checked on September 14, 2026 using official Nintendo, SEGA/ATLUS and platform-store materials.
