As of September 16, 2026, the new Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) civil service exam is authorized, but its official notice (edital) has not yet been published. The confirmed core is clear: 60 vacancies are authorized for Federal Auditor of Finance and Control (AFFC), and the reserved-vacancy breakdown is already public. Specializations, fields of work, duty locations, the exam organizer and the detailed selection rules are still pending.

What is already official
60 AFFC vacancies
MGI Ordinance No. 5,093/2026 authorizes a public competition for 60 positions in CGU's workforce. The Comptroller General's official competitions page identifies all of them as Federal Auditor of Finance and Control vacancies.
The reserved-vacancy breakdown is already public
CGU lists 39 vacancies for general competition, 15 for Black candidates, 3 for persons with disabilities, 2 for Indigenous candidates and 1 for Quilombola candidates. The total is exactly 60 and does not rely on projections from the previous competition.
Maximum deadline for the official notice
The Ordinance sets a period of up to six months from its publication on June 24, 2026. As a practical reference, that points to December 24, 2026. For candidates, however, the operative milestone will be the actual publication date or any official act that changes the deadline.
Minimum interval before the first exam
The act also requires at least two months between the notice and the first exam. Therefore, if the notice were published only at the end of the window, on December 24, 2026, the first exam could not take place before February 24, 2027, unless the rule is officially changed. That February date is a consequence of the minimum interval, not an announced CGU schedule.
What is still missing before the notice
When the official portal was checked on September 16, 2026, the following points still lacked a complete public definition:
- distribution of vacancies by specialization and field of work;
- duty locations;
- formal establishment of the organizing committee, according to the text currently displayed on the portal;
- selection and official announcement of the exam organizer;
- application period and fee;
- detailed eligibility requirements;
- syllabus;
- stages, assessment criteria and schedule;
- final allocation of vacancies among fields and locations.
CGU states that details will be released as the preparatory stages are completed and after the organizer is defined and the official notice is published.
Timeline to the official notice
- June 22, 2026: MGI Ordinance No. 5,093 is issued.
- June 24, 2026: publication in the Federal Official Gazette starts the up-to-six-month deadline.
- September 16, 2026: the official portal confirms vacancies, reserved categories and general deadlines, while key details remain pending.
- By December 2026: the notice must be published within the Ordinance's window unless an official change is made.
- After the notice: the first exam must observe a minimum two-month interval.
Authorization does not mean applications are open
The Ordinance allows the competition to be held, but it does not open applications. Candidates can apply only after the notice provides the application period, system, fee, rules and stages. The act also states that appointments depend on authorization from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, approval of the final result, and budgetary and financial compliance.
How to follow updates without mixing in old rules
To avoid confusing the 2026 competition with the 2021/2022 one, follow the official CGU page and government acts, including the MGI list of 2026 Ordinances. Older materials may mention an organizer, fields, locations and rules that applied only to the previous competition.
Until the new notice is published, the distinction is simple: vacancies, reserved categories and general deadlines are confirmed; specializations, duty locations, organizer, syllabus, applications and the detailed schedule still require official publication.
