Anyone listed with the status Deferido, meaning approved at this stage, in Ordinance No. 0263/2026 has been called by Maceió's Municipal Department of Transport and Traffic, DMTT, to move forward with the registration linked to the new taxi authorizations. The call was published on September 25, 2026 and is part of Credentialing Notice No. 001/2024. Being qualified and classified, however, does not yet mean the person is authorized to operate: the candidate must complete registration, go through the vehicle presentation and inspection stage, and meet the remaining requirements before homologation and formal authorization.
How to check whether you were called
The official reference is Ordinance No. 0263/2026. It contains the candidates' names, protocol numbers and the status of each application. To check your situation, search for your name or protocol number in the document and verify whether the status is Deferido.
DMTT stated that this second stage was opened for 700 remaining authorizations and received 730 applications. That does not mean every applicant was called: each person's status must be checked directly in the ordinance.
Registration deadline and location
Item 7.1 of Notice No. 001/2024 states that qualified and best-ranked candidates must appear at DMTT within 30 days from the call to complete registration. DMTT's official news release says attendance for this stage began on September 25, 2026.
DMTT serves the public at Avenida Durval de Góes Monteiro, 829, Tabuleiro do Martins, Maceió. The official page lists service hours from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Because the notice has its own deadline-counting rules and the agency may publish later acts, candidates should use the ordinance and official communications as the reference instead of waiting until the final days.
Document checklist for qualified candidates
Ordinance No. 0263/2026 lists seven groups of documents for registration. Two of them, the vehicle registration and licensing certificate, CRLV, and proof of payment of the IPVA vehicle tax and licensing fee, have a specific additional deadline.
| Document | Rule at this stage |
|---|---|
| Copy of the CRLV issued by DETRAN/AL | May be submitted within up to 90 calendar days from submission of the registration documents. |
| Updated negative criminal record certificates from the State and Federal courts | Must be included in the registration documents. |
| Proof of tax compliance with the Federal, State and Municipal tax authorities | Must be included in the registration documents. |
| Proof that the vehicle's IPVA and licensing fee have been paid | May be submitted within up to 90 calendar days from submission of the registration documents. |
| Updated proof of residence | Must be included in the registration documents. |
| Driver's license, CNH, valid for remunerated passenger transport | Must be included in the registration documents. |
| Proof of completion of the taxi-driver training course | Must be included in the registration documents. |
The additional 90-day period is limited to the documents specifically identified in the ordinance, namely the CRLV and proof of payment of the IPVA and licensing fee. It should not be treated as a general extension for all registration documents.
What happens after the documents are submitted
- Review and scheduling: after the candidate appears and the documents are reviewed, DMTT schedules the date for vehicle presentation and inspection.
- Vehicle inspection: Ordinance No. 0263/2026 requires compliance with the Brazilian Traffic Code and National Traffic System rules, licensing by DETRAN/AL in the Municipality of Maceió, a maximum vehicle age of six years from manufacture, white paint and the visual program defined by DMTT.
- Homologation and authorization: Notice No. 001/2024 provides that, after effective registration of candidates who meet the requirements and after any appeals are resolved, the credentialing process is homologated and the authorization is granted.
- Publication and identification: the notice provides for publication of the list of authorized credentialed operators in the Municipal Electronic Official Gazette. After authorization is granted, DMTT is to issue a digital identification card and send an official letter to DETRAN/AL so the vehicle can be registered in the rental category used for taxi service.
Situations that can remove a candidate from the process
Ordinance No. 0263/2026 provides for disqualification, elimination and exclusion from the process when a candidate fails to answer the call, misses the established deadline, or presents documents or a vehicle that do not comply with legal criteria. The notice also provides that, when candidates are eliminated or excluded, remaining qualified candidates may be called according to the ranking order and the number of available authorizations.
What if the status is Indeferido?
The same ordinance calls candidates with the status Indeferido, meaning not approved at this stage, to appear in person at DMTT within 30 calendar days from publication to learn the decision and receive formal notice of pending documents or inconsistencies. This attendance period should not automatically be treated as the appeal deadline.
Notice No. 001/2024 provides for appeals within five business days from notification of the act in cases involving qualification or disqualification, classification, and elimination or exclusion. A candidate in this situation should check the notice received and the channel indicated by DMTT for the procedure applicable to the case.
Practical summary for qualified candidates
- Confirm your name, protocol number and status in Ordinance No. 0263/2026.
- Prepare the documents required for registration and note that only the CRLV, IPVA and licensing fee have the additional period of up to 90 days stated in the ordinance.
- Appear at DMTT within the call period established by the notice.
- Wait for the vehicle presentation and inspection appointment, and only consider the authorization complete after formal homologation and grant of authorization.
