The 2027 Formula 1 calendar was announced on September 16, 2026 by Formula 1 and the FIA after approval by the World Motor Sport Council. The season will feature 24 Grands Prix in 22 countries and 10 Sprint weekends. The championship starts in Bahrain on March 12–14 and ends in Abu Dhabi on December 10–12. Before that, the only collective pre-season test announced for 2027 will take place in Bahrain on February 24–27.
What changes on the 2027 F1 calendar
The two most visible changes are the returns of Portugal and Türkiye and the expansion of the Sprint format. Portugal comes back with Portimão, which last hosted Formula 1 in 2021. The Portuguese round is scheduled for June 18–20, between Monaco and Silverstone.
Türkiye also returns after its most recent Formula 1 appearance in 2021. The Istanbul weekend is scheduled for October 1–3, between Azerbaijan and Singapore. The official table includes an asterisk for the Turkish round: the circuit is subject to FIA homologation.
- 24 Grands Prix: the championship spans 22 countries across five continents.
- 10 Sprints: four more than in 2026, when the format appeared on six weekends.
- Bahrain opens the season: Australia, which opened the 2026 campaign, moves to round three.
- Portugal returns to the European leg: Portimão slots into June after Monaco.
- Türkiye returns in the autumn: Istanbul is part of a three-weekend run with Baku and Singapore.

Which are the 10 Sprints in 2027
Formula 1 will increase the number of Sprints from six to ten. Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi will host the format for the first time. Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil and Qatar will host Sprints again.
- Bahrain — Sakhir — March 12–14
- Australia — Melbourne — April 2–4
- Japan — Suzuka — April 9–11
- Canada — Montréal — May 21–23
- Monaco — Monaco — June 4–6
- Great Britain — Silverstone — July 2–4
- Italy — Monza — September 3–5
- Brazil — São Paulo — November 5–7
- Qatar — Lusail — December 3–5
- Abu Dhabi — Yas Marina — December 10–12
This changes the sporting distribution of the season: three of the first four race weekends will include a Sprint — Bahrain, Australia and Japan — and the final two rounds, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, will also use the format. On a Sprint weekend, the short race runs for about 100 km, awards points to the top eight and reduces the number of free-practice sessions compared with a traditional Grand Prix weekend.
How Portugal and Türkiye change the travel sequence
Portimão strengthens the European block in the middle of the year. After Monaco, Formula 1 travels to Portugal and then to Silverstone, Austria, Belgium and Hungary before the summer break. The Algarve circuit is known for its elevation changes and returns after being used in 2020 and 2021.
Istanbul Park reappears in a different part of the calendar: the Turkish race sits between Baku and Singapore. That creates a consecutive Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Singapore run from late September into early October. Formula 1 says the 2027 schedule was arranged with a more efficient geographical flow of events in mind.
Other order changes worth noting
Bahrain returns as the season opener and forms an opening double-header with Saudi Arabia. Australia, Japan and China follow. Silverstone swaps places with Austria in the European sequence. After the summer break, Monza opens September and is followed by the Spanish round in Madrid. Late in the year, Austin, Mexico City and São Paulo come before Las Vegas; Qatar and Abu Dhabi close the season.
What is not completely final yet
The point explicitly conditioned in the official announcement is the Turkish round: Istanbul is subject to FIA homologation. Anyone planning travel or non-refundable purchases should therefore keep checking the official calendar for updates. The other dates above are the ones published in the September 16, 2026 announcement.
How to follow the calendar without losing track
For season planning, three filters make the schedule easier to read: mark the 10 Sprint weekends, separate the June–July European block, and pay special attention to the September–October stretch that includes Monza, Madrid, Baku, Istanbul and Singapore. It is also useful to note the February 24–27 pre-season test in Bahrain, even though it is not one of the 24 championship rounds.
