Quick answer: in Alagoas, vehicles with license plates ending in 3 or 4 have the CRLV validity date listed by Detran-AL as September 30, 2026. As of this article's publication date, September 7, this is the group whose 2026 licensing deadline ends this month. Endings 1 and 2 had a deadline on August 31; endings 5 and 6 run through October 31; 7 and 8 through November 30; and 9 and 0 through December 31.

Which plate endings have a licensing deadline in September 2026?

The official Detran-AL licensing calendar divides vehicles into five groups. The key column for knowing when the document must be updated is “Validade do CRLV”, or CRLV validity.

Plate endingCRLV validity in 2026Status on Sep. 7, 2026Is an IPVA installment due on Sep. 30?
1 and 208/31/2026Deadline has passedNo
3 and 409/30/2026Expires in SeptemberNo; the 6th installment was due 08/31
5 and 610/31/2026Deadline in OctoberYes; 6th installment
7 and 811/30/2026Deadline in NovemberYes; 5th installment
9 and 012/31/2026Deadline in DecemberYes; 4th installment

This distinction prevents a common mix-up: September 30 appears in the calendar for several groups, but it is not always the final vehicle-licensing deadline. For endings 3 and 4, September 30 is the CRLV validity date. For endings 5 and 6, 7 and 8, and 9 and 0, the same date is an IPVA installment date, while their CRLV validity extends later.

What must be paid before the CRLV-e is released?

According to Detran-AL, the CRLV is issued only after all debts linked to the vehicle are settled. The agency lists Detran fees and fines, the state IPVA tax, and, where an old applicable debt exists, mandatory insurance related to years before 2023.

In the vehicle licensing guide service (“Amarelinha”), Detran-AL instructs owners to generate the licensing payment slip on its own portal and the IPVA payment slip on the Alagoas State Finance Department website. The service page currently lists a R$233.24 licensing fee, plus IPVA. To generate the Detran slip, the owner needs the license plate and Renavam.

How to complete the licensing process and download the CRLV-e

  1. Check the plate ending and CRLV validity date. If the plate ends in 3 or 4, the 2026 deadline is September 30.
  2. Generate the payment slips. Issue the licensing slip through Detran-AL and the IPVA slip through Sefaz-AL.
  3. Pay all outstanding debts. The CRLV-e is not released while a blocking debt remains.
  4. Wait for the update. Detran-AL gives an estimated service time of 0 to 24 hours and recommends checking the vehicle status to confirm that the document has been generated.
  5. Download the CRLV-e. Once generated, the document can be obtained through the federal app, the Senatran Services Portal, or Detran-AL.

Option 1: CNH do Brasil app

The federal CRLV-e service, updated in September 2026, currently calls the app CNH do Brasil; the Detran-AL page still uses the previous name, Carteira Digital de Trânsito (CDT). In the app, sign in, open “Veículos”, choose the option to add a CRLV, and enter the Renavam and the CRV security code. The digital document has the same legal validity as the printed version and can be accessed on the phone even without an internet connection.

Option 2: Senatran Services Portal

On the official CRLV-e service on gov.br, sign in with your gov.br account. Then open the “Veículos” section, select “Consultar Meus Veículos”, choose the vehicle, and click “CRLV Digital (.pdf)”. The federal service states that issuance is free for the citizen.

Option 3: Detran-AL portal

Detran-AL also states that the CRLV-e can be obtained on the state website through the CRLV Digital issuance option after the document has been generated electronically.

What to do if you paid but the CRLV-e has not appeared yet

  • Allow time for payment processing and electronic generation: Detran-AL indicates an estimated window of up to 24 hours for the service.
  • Check the vehicle status: confirm whether an IPVA debt, fee, fine, or another blocking issue still appears.
  • If a paid debt is still showing: the official calendar instructs users to send proof of payment to arrecadacao@detran.al.gov.br.
  • If your licensing deadline has already passed: Detran-AL instructs owners to go to Detran, a Ciretran or an Advanced Service Post, or to generate a new licensing slip online.

Why an IPVA installment date is not the same as CRLV validity

Alagoas places two different types of information in the same calendar: six IPVA installment dates and a CRLV validity date for each plate group. Therefore, an owner with a plate ending in 5 or 6 may have an IPVA installment due on September 30, while the listed CRLV validity date is October 31. An owner with a plate ending in 3 or 4 has no IPVA installment due on September 30, but must observe that date as the end of CRLV validity.

For road use, the essential requirement is that the vehicle be properly licensed. Under Article 230(V) of the Brazilian Traffic Code, driving a vehicle that is not registered and properly licensed is classified as a very serious traffic violation and may result in a fine and removal of the vehicle.
