The 2026 Technical Qualification Exam for Brazilian Customs Brokers is not open to any interested applicant. It is designed to assess customs broker assistants who intend to join the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service's Register of Customs Brokers. Under EDITAL/COANA No. 01/2026, registration runs from September 8 to September 30, 2026, and the objective test is scheduled for November 15 at 8:30 a.m. Brasília time, in an online, remote format.
Before paying the fee, the key point is eligibility: applicants must have completed high school and prove at least two years of registration in the Register of Customs Broker Assistants. That two-year period is measured as of the registration closing date, September 30.
Who can register for the 2026 customs broker exam
Only customs broker assistants registered with the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service who meet the notice requirements may take part. In practical terms, applicants must meet both criteria below:
- have completed high school;
- prove at least two years of registration in the RFB's Register of Customs Broker Assistants, using September 30, 2026 as the reference date.
This means the exam is not a direct entry route for someone who is not already a registered assistant. It is a qualification step for people already in that register who want to move to the Register of Customs Brokers.
Registration: deadline, fee and documents
Registration must be completed exclusively online through the Legalle Concursos website, the examining organization responsible for the technical and administrative execution of the exam. The period runs from 9:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026 to 11:59 p.m. on September 30, 2026, Brasília time.
| Step | Date or rule |
|---|---|
| Registration | 09/08/2026 at 9:00 a.m. to 09/30/2026 at 11:59 p.m. |
| Fee | BRL 80.00 |
| Payment method | DARF, code 1574 |
| Fee deadline | 10/01/2026 |
| Document upload | During the registration period |
The notice states that registration only becomes effective after payment is confirmed. It also says there is no full or partial fee waiver. A refund is provided only if the exam is not held.
Which documents must be uploaded
During the registration period, the applicant must enter the Candidate Area and upload the following as PDF files:
- the Ato Declaratório Executivo (ADE) that authorized the applicant's registration as a Customs Broker Assistant, used to prove the minimum two-year period;
- a legible identity document with a recognizable photograph, such as a Brazilian ID card (RG), valid driver's license (CNH), passport or professional ID.
Each file may be up to 7 MB. Illegible, altered, corrupted documents or files sent by a method other than the one specified in the notice are not considered. Applicants who need special testing arrangements must also make the request and upload supporting documentation within the same registration period.
How the remote exam will work on November 15
The objective test is eliminatory, lasts three hours and is scheduled for November 15, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Brasília time. The final confirmation of the date and time must be checked in the call notice, which will be officially published in the Federal Official Gazette and made available through the Federal Revenue Service and Legalle channels.
Applicants will access the digital testing environment through the Candidate Area, under “PROVA ON-LINE”. The notice makes the participant responsible for choosing an isolated, well-lit location, preferably with a light-colored background, and for having compatible equipment and internet access.
Technical requirements and monitoring rules
- use a desktop or notebook computer;
- have a working digital camera and microphone/audio output;
- use Google Chrome version 100 or later;
- have internet access of at least 30 Mbps;
- keep the face visible on camera throughout the exam;
- do not use a mobile phone, headphones or other electronics besides the computer used for the exam.
Monitoring is electronic. The notice also prohibits accessories that make identification harder, such as caps, hoods, masks and dark glasses. If the camera connection drops, the applicant is responsible for restoring it; prolonged disconnections or signs of fraud may be reviewed by the commission and can result in elimination.
For applicants who did not complete the digital environment training, the notice requires access to the system by 8:15 a.m. on test day and a photo holding the original identity document next to the face. There is a tolerance of up to ten minutes after the scheduled start time for system access, but the specific instructions in the notice and call must be followed.
How navigation works during the test
Questions are displayed in a random, individual and sequential order. After moving forward, you cannot return to the previous question or change an answer already submitted. The timer continues running for the entire exam and there is no scheduled break. A bathroom break must be requested from the proctor through chat and may only occur after authorization.
Number of questions, subjects and minimum score
The assessment has 60 multiple-choice questions, each with five options and only one correct answer:
| Area | Questions |
|---|---|
| Portuguese Language | 10 |
| English Language | 5 |
| Specific Knowledge | 45 |
| Total | 60 |
Annex II of the notice details the syllabus. Most of the exam focuses on specific knowledge related to customs legislation and customs control and clearance procedures. Scores range from 0 to 100, and applicants who obtain 70 points or more are considered approved.

What happens after approval
Passing the exam does not automatically register the person as a customs broker. After the exam result is published, an approved assistant has one year to request registration in the Register of Customs Brokers, subject to the other requirements in the applicable regulations.
Quick checklist before confirming registration
- confirm completion of high school;
- check whether the two-year period in the Register of Assistants is completed by September 30, 2026;
- prepare the ADE and a valid, legible identity document;
- upload the PDFs within the deadline and keep each file under 7 MB;
- issue and pay the BRL 80.00 DARF by October 1;
- test the computer, camera, microphone, Chrome and internet connection before the training period;
- set aside November 12 and 13 to learn the platform and November 15 for the exam.
