The City of Santa Luzia, Minas Gerais, has opened applications for its Emergency Simplified Education Selection Process under Notice No. 02/2026. Applications are free, online only, and remain open until 11:59 p.m. on September 20, 2026, Brasília time. The process is intended to create a reserve list for temporary hiring of School Support Professionals and Basic Education Teachers, PEB III, in Science, Geography, English and Portuguese.

The main point for applicants is that the notice does not offer a fixed number of vacancies. Hiring depends on temporary needs arising in the municipal school system and will follow the classification order. The selection process and any resulting contracts remain valid through December 31, 2026.

Who can apply for School Support Professional

For School Support Professional, Annex I requires applicants to be enrolled in at least the 5th semester of a full Pedagogy teaching degree at a higher education institution recognized by MEC. Applicants who have not yet completed the degree must present, if called for hiring, proof of active and regular enrollment issued no more than 90 days earlier.

The role supports students with disabilities in hygiene, meals, mobility, accessibility and school activities, working in coordination with the teaching team and classroom teacher. The full list of duties appears in Annex III of the notice.

Who can apply for PEB III roles

For Science, Geography and English, Annex I lists different qualification routes, including a full teaching degree in the subject and, in some cases, another higher education degree combined with specific pedagogical training, provided the legal requirements cited in the notice are met. Applicants should compare the exact title and type of their degree with the full wording of Annex I before submitting the form.

For PEB III - Portuguese, the official PDF available on September 16, 2026, has an editorial inconsistency: the field corresponding to minimum qualification contains a description of Portuguese teacher duties. This does not justify assuming a requirement by analogy. Anyone uncertain about whether their qualification is accepted should contact the Municipal Education Department before the deadline and monitor any correction or official notice.

How to apply for free by September 20

  1. Open the Electronic Application Form linked by the City.
  2. Select the correct role and review the requirements in Annex I.
  3. Enter personal details, academic qualifications and professional experience carefully. Classification will be calculated from the information declared.
  4. Finish and save the application before the deadline. The notice states that a copy of the completed form and the application receipt will be sent to the registered email address.
  5. Check inbox, spam and trash folders. If you need to correct information while applications are open, you may submit the application again. The new submission invalidates the previous one.

Each applicant may submit only one application per role. The notice also states that supporting documents do not have to be uploaded at the application stage. Evidence will be required if the applicant is called for hiring.

How classification works

There is no examination. Candidates are ranked in descending order based on declared qualifications and professional experience. These declarations must later be supported by documents.

RoleCriterionMaximum score
PEB IIISpecialization in the specific area1 point
PEB IIIMaster's degree in the specific area2 points
PEB IIIDoctorate in the specific area3 points
PEB IIIExperience as PEB III in the relevant final-years subject area, 1 point per 360 days, capped at 10 years10 points
School Support ProfessionalCompleted Pedagogy or Normal Superior qualification under the notice1 point
School Support ProfessionalSpecialization in the specific area2 points
School Support ProfessionalExperience in the role's area, 1 point per 360 days, capped at 10 years10 points

Under the scoring limits in the notice, PEB III applicants can reach up to 16 points and School Support Professional applicants up to 13 points. Tie-breaking rules then consider, in sequence, higher academic qualification, longer applicable experience and greater age, with wording tailored to each group of roles.

Documents required if you are called

Although no documents are uploaded with the application, a candidate who is called must prove the information declared. The notice lists identification, CPF taxpayer number, voter registration and electoral clearance, PIS/PASEP or the corresponding declaration, employment record, recent proof of address, civil status certificate, proof of education or required qualification, academic titles used for scoring, proof of experience, military status documentation when applicable, pre-employment medical certificate, background documentation, social security documents and, for applicants with disabilities, the specific evidence required by the notice.

For School Support Professional applicants who are still studying Pedagogy, proof of active enrollment is especially important. Failure to prove declared requirements may prevent hiring and lead to disqualification.

Appeals must follow Annex II and the channels specified in item 5.2 of the notice. Because candidates are responsible for monitoring official acts, call-ups and possible corrections, it is important to keep checking the City portal and the Official Gazette even after submitting the application.

Steps that help avoid an invalid application

  • Do not postpone the final save of the form. If the application is not completed by the deadline, the applicant is treated as not registered.
  • Declare only experience compatible with the role. The notice excludes overlapping service time, internships and time already used for retirement purposes from experience scoring.
  • Keep the confirmation email and application receipt.
  • Do not treat a reserve list as an immediate vacancy. Classification creates an expectation of possible hiring, not a guarantee.
  • If applying as a person with a disability, mark the status on the form and prepare the required evidence. The notice reserves 10% of existing vacancies or vacancies that may arise during its validity.
  • For PEB III - Portuguese, monitor official communications about the minimum qualification because of the inconsistency in the published Annex I.

Where to check official sources

The City published an official news item summarizing applications and the schedule. The main document is the Notice No. 02/2026 PDF, which contains application rules, scoring, appeals, required documents and annexes. Later updates and official acts may also appear in the Santa Luzia City selection processes section.
