Celpe-Bras 2026/2: registration checklist until August 6

Registration ends on August 6th, but payment goes until the 7th. See the checklist to choose a position, save receipts and monitor approval.

Linha do tempo do Celpe-Bras 2026/2 com inscrição, pagamento, provas no Brasil e no exterior e datas de divulgação dos resultados.

Registration for Celpe-Bras 2026/2 ends at 11:59 pm on August 6, 2026, Brasília time. Payment of the fee can be made until August 7th, according to the instructions of the chosen applying station. Therefore, registration and payment do not end on the same day — but leaving one of the steps until the last moment increases the risk of pending payments.

The safest way is to follow an order: confirm if you are part of the exam audience, choose a post with vacancies, fill in all the data, complete the registration, save the summary or protocol, check the payment method directly with the post, request any assistance and monitor the approval.

What needs to be done by August 6th

By Thursday, August 6, 2026, the participant needs to:

  • complete registration in the Celpe-Bras System;
  • choose the country and applying post;
  • check personal and contact details;
  • respond to the requested questionnaire;
  • send the documents required by the system;
  • request specialized assistance, when necessary;
  • request treatment by social name, when applicable;
  • save the summary or receipt generated at the end.

The registration deadline ends at 11:59 pm, considering Brasília time. The same day is the limit for requesting specialized care and treatment using your social name. Payment of the fee has its own deadline, until August 7th.

Before registering: confirm that the exam suits your case

Celpe-Bras is the official Brazilian exam designed to assess proficiency in Portuguese as a foreign language. It has a written part and an oral part and is applied in accredited positions in Brazil and abroad.

There is a divergence in the official channels themselves regarding the public

Inep's news and frequently asked questions page inform that participation is voluntary and intended for foreigners and Brazilians, residing in Brazil or abroad, whose mother tongue is not Portuguese.

However, item 1.5 of the text of Notice nº 92 published in the Official Gazette of the Union specifically mentions “foreigners interested in proving their level of proficiency”.

This difference deserves attention. Brazilians whose mother tongue is not Portuguese must confirm the possibility of participation with the applying office and, when necessary, with Inep before paying the fee. It is recommended to save the response received by email or another official channel.

Celpe-Bras 2026/2 registration checklist

1. Separate data and documents before entering the system

Have a passport or identification document valid in the country where you will take the exam. You will also need to provide personal data, date of birth, telephone number and valid email address.

Use an email that you check regularly. The address will be important for monitoring communications, regaining access and receiving instructions from the post.

Inep also advises you to complete the registration questionnaire completely. The answers can serve as a basis for the initial stage of the oral part, in which the evaluator talks to the participant about their information and experiences.

2. Choose the application station carefully

In the system, select the country and post where you want to take both parts of the exam. Only positions that have vacancies for the edition can be chosen.

Each post defines its capacity according to the infrastructure and number of evaluators available. When the limit is reached, the system may prevent new registrations at that location. The choice must also consider travel costs and conditions, as it is not permitted to register at one post and take the test at another.

Before confirming, check:

  • if there is still space available;
  • in which city the tests will be held;
  • how the post receives payment;
  • what is the amount actually charged;
  • if it is necessary to send the receipt by email or form;
  • what additional documents does the post request;
  • how the time and place of the oral part will be communicated.

Selecting a position in the system does not, in itself, equate to definitive confirmation of the vacancy. The registration still needs to be approved by the applying position.

3. Fill in the data exactly as it should appear on the certificate

Review full name, nationality, date of birth and document number. The data provided during registration will be used in the exam records and, if the participant obtains certification, in the electronic certificate.

Avoid abbreviations not present in the document and check the order of surnames, especially when the passport or foreign document adopts a different pattern than the Brazilian one.

While the registration period is open and the post has not yet approved the registration, some corrections may be possible. After approval, changes may become unavailable.

4. Complete registration and save the summary

Don't stop at the last filling screen. Check that the system actually recorded the completion and save the summary or proof of registration.

Inep recommends keeping this document because it gathers data used to:

  • track the registration status;
  • see confirmation card;
  • access individual result;
  • issue the certificate if a certifiable level is reached.

Save the file in at least two locations, such as your computer and cloud storage. It is also useful to take a screenshot showing the registration number, position chosen and the situation presented by the system.

5. Consult the station before paying

Payment is not centralized in a single way for all participants. The applying station defines the amount, the method of payment and the way to prove payment.

According to information from Agência Brasil reproduced by entities and vehicles that followed the notice, the suggested value for positions in Brazil in this edition is R$ 259. Abroad, the published reference is the equivalent of US$ 190 for private institutions or those linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The amount actually charged, however, must be confirmed with the station.

The UFPB, for example, reported a charge of R$ 259 at its post and instructed candidates to issue a Union Payment Slip and send the receipt together with an identification document. This is a rule for that station, not a universal instruction for all locations.

Inep's general FAQ page still shows smaller values identified as belonging to the “latest edition”. Therefore, do not use the old numbers on this page as a reference for Celpe-Bras 2026/2. Always confirm the current value directly with the chosen station.

6. Pay by August 7th and keep proof

The national schedule establishes August 7, 2026 as the deadline for payment. The summary notice and the Inep news do not indicate a single national time for this stage, so the participant must observe the channel and the guidelines of the station itself.

After paying:

  • save the complete bank receipt;
  • check that the operation was carried out, and not just scheduled;
  • send the receipt to the post, if that is the guidance;
  • save the message or confirmation of receipt;
  • monitor the situation in the system.

The fact that payment ends one day after registration does not allow creating a new registration on August 7th. On that day, the system will have closed the registration period.

7. Request specialized service or social name within the registration

Anyone who needs specialized care or treatment under their social name must make the request by August 6th, within the registration period.

Inep's frequently asked questions page advises that the document proving specialized care is sent by the system and contains the participant's name, description of the condition, diagnosis, identification and signature of the responsible professional and their registration with the competent body. The general guidance also mentions files in PDF, PNG or JPG, with a maximum size of 2 MB, written in Portuguese or in the official language of the post. As fields can be updated, check the requirements displayed in the system before sending.

The schedule provides:

  • August 7: preliminary result;
  • August 10 to 14: appeal period;
  • August 15: final result or outcome of the appeal.

Whoever makes the request must access the system again on these dates. Not receiving a message by email does not replace checking the results.

8. Follow the approval of the post

Postions will be able to approve registrations until August 12, 2026. Participants whose registration is not approved will not be able to take the exam in that edition.

After payment, follow:

  • if the receipt was received;
  • if there are pending documents;
  • if the registration appears as approved;
  • if the station sent additional guidance;
  • when the times for the written and oral parts will be announced.

Do not treat the payment receipt as definitive confirmation. The most important milestone is approval by the post.

How to set up the preparation schedule after registration

Preparation can begin as soon as registration and payment are completed. There is no need to wait for approval to learn the structure of the exam and practice the skills assessed.

First block: know the format

The written part has four tasks and a total duration of up to three hours. The activities integrate understanding of video, audio and written texts with textual production.

The oral part lasts approximately 20 minutes. In the first few minutes, the conversation may use information provided by the participant in the registration questionnaire. Afterwards, the interaction addresses different themes presented through verbal and visual materials.

Second block: train integrated tasks

Instead of just studying isolated grammar rules, organize exercises that combine:

  • listen and write;
  • watch and take notes;
  • read and produce a text with a defined objective and recipient;
  • hold a conversation about everyday topics;
  • explain opinions and react to the interlocutor's questions.

Celpe-Bras adopts a communicative approach and considers context, purpose, interlocutors and quality of performance in language use situations.

Third block: simulate time and test conditions

Book full sessions to complete four written assignments within three hours. For the oral stage, record responses of 15 to 20 minutes and evaluate clarity, fluency, vocabulary, interaction and ability to develop the topic.

It is also recommended to confirm in advance the route to the station, the documentation accepted on the day and the individual time of the oral part.

Errors that could compromise registration

The main risks are not just in the initial filling. They include:

  • choose a position without checking costs and travel;
  • do not complete registration until the last screen;
  • use outdated email or phone number;
  • confusing registration deadline with payment deadline;
  • pay without following the station's specific instructions;
  • does not send proof when requested;
  • miss the specialized service deadline;
  • stop checking approval;
  • assume that payment alone guarantees the place;
  • rely on values from previous editions.

Next step

Access the Celpe-Bras System, check the positions still available and complete the registration before 11:59 pm on August 6, Brasília time. Then, contact the chosen station, confirm the amount and payment method, keep the receipts and note the approval and test dates.
