The Encceja 2026 make-up exam is not a general second chance available to any participant who missed the test, arrived late, or was unable to finish it. Edital No. 27, dated March 30, 2026, limits this right to specific situations: proven harm caused by a logistical problem during the test administration or the occurrence of one of the infectious diseases expressly listed in the Edital. The request must be submitted by the participant and will be reviewed individually by Inep.
For the 2026 edition, the request must be submitted exclusively through the Página do Participante (Participant Page) between August 24 and 11:59 p.m. on August 28. The regular administration took place on August 23. There will be only one make-up opportunity: October 6 for participants seeking elementary education certification and October 7 for those seeking secondary education certification.
Quick answer: who can request the make-up exam
There are two main paths provided for in the Edital. The first is having suffered proven harm from a logistical problem related to the test administration itself. The second is having been affected, in the week before the exam, by one of the infectious diseases listed by Inep. In both cases, the request is not automatic: the participant must access the Página do Participante within the deadline and wait for the review.
For logistical problems, the Edital cites as examples natural disasters that compromise the test site's infrastructure, a power outage that impairs visibility because there is not enough natural light, and an error in the execution of an administration procedure that causes proven harm to the participant. This helps distinguish a problem with the organization of the exam from personal transportation or routine difficulties.
Practical decision guide: identify your situation before submitting the request
There was a logistical problem at the test site or during test administration
In principle, the case is eligible when the event fits the definition in the Edital and there was proven harm. The request must indicate only the session or sessions that were actually affected. The review is individual, so simply reporting a setback does not guarantee approval.
The problem occurred only during the morning session
If the logistical problem affected only the morning period, the rule is especially important: the participant was expected to take the afternoon test normally and request a make-up only for the morning session. The Edital states this guidance expressly. Therefore, a morning problem does not automatically turn the afternoon session into a test that must be retaken.
The problem occurred only during the afternoon session
When the logistical harm occurred only in the afternoon period, the request should focus on that session. The general rule in the Edital is to request a make-up for the session in which the participant was affected. If both sessions were actually harmed by a qualifying situation, the request should accurately reflect the affected sessions.
You had an infectious disease listed in the Edital
This situation may qualify for a make-up exam, provided that the disease is among those listed and the documentation is accepted. The Edital states that anyone who had one of these diseases should not have gone to the test site and should have requested the make-up exam. The supporting document must meet the requirements defined by Inep and contain a date that covers the day of the Encceja Nacional 2026 administration.
You became ill during the test and had to leave
Here the answer is different. Item 13.6 of the Edital states that a participant who reports feeling unwell or having health problems during the administration, does not complete the tests, or needs to leave the site cannot return to the room to finish the exam and also cannot request a make-up exam for that reason. This is a restrictive rule and should not be confused with the specific situation involving an infectious disease listed in the Edital.
You were absent for a personal reason not listed
The make-up exam does not work as a generic second opportunity for any absence. The Edital limits the qualifying situations to logistical problems that caused proven harm and the listed infectious diseases. If the absence resulted from another personal reason, do not assume there will be a right to a new test simply because it may have been possible to justify the absence in another Encceja context.
Which infectious diseases are covered by the rule
Edital No. 27 lists tuberculosis, pertussis (whooping cough), diphtheria, invasive Haemophilus influenzae disease, meningococcal disease and other meningitis, smallpox, mpox (monkeypox), human influenza A and B, poliomyelitis caused by wild poliovirus, measles, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), and COVID-19.
The key point is not simply feeling unwell. For a make-up request based on illness, the condition must fall within the list in the Edital and be proven by the required documentation. The text also links the request to the occurrence of the disease in the week before the day of the test administration.
Which documents to prepare for a request based on illness
For cases involving an infectious disease, item 13 refers to the documentation requirements in item 4.2.3. The document must be legible and in Portuguese. It must contain the participant's full name, the diagnosis with a description of the condition that led to the request and/or the corresponding ICD-10 code, as well as the signature and identification of the competent professional with the respective registration with the CRM, the Ministry of Health, or another competent authority.
There is an additional requirement for the make-up exam: the document must include a date covering the day of the Encceja 2026 administration, August 23. This date matters because it ties the proof to the period relevant to the exam.
The documentation section of the Edital also establishes that files must be submitted in PDF, PNG, or JPG format, with a maximum size of 2 MB. Before attaching a file, check that it is legible, shows all required information, and displays the date clearly. A cropped, illegible, or incomplete file may compromise the review.
What about a logistical problem
The Edital requires proven harm and states that requests will be reviewed individually, but item 13 does not repeat, for logistical problems, a documentary form identical to the one required for illness.
Therefore, the safest guidance is to describe what happened objectively and use the fields and attachments made available by the Página do Participante to demonstrate the harm, without inventing documents or information that the system does not request.
Deadline and channel: where the request must be submitted
The make-up request period runs from August 24 until 11:59 p.m. on August 28, 2026. Inep states that the request must be made exclusively through the Encceja Página do Participante. A request submitted outside the indicated channel or outside the period will not be accepted.
After entering the system, complete the request that corresponds to your situation and review all information before submitting it. The Edital states that the declared information and attached documents cannot be changed after the request is submitted. This is one of the most important points in the process: correcting a file or changing information after submission is not an option provided for in the rules.
Inep also states that it is not responsible for requests or documents that fail to be received because of technical failures involving the device, communication, congestion, incorrect procedure, a Gov.br password problem, or other factors that prevent data transfer. In practice, do not leave the submission until the final minutes, and confirm in the system itself that the request was recorded.
How the session rule affects your request
Encceja 2026 was administered in two sessions. For a make-up request based on a logistical problem, the participant must request only the session in which the harm occurred. This rule prevents someone from requesting a new administration of a part of the exam that was completed normally.
The most relevant example is the morning session. If the problem occurred in the morning but there were conditions for the afternoon administration, the Edital states that the participant should take the afternoon session and request a make-up only for the morning session. If the logistical situation actually compromised both periods, the request must indicate both affected sessions, according to what occurred.
This detail also changes how the request should be reviewed: before submitting, do not think only in terms of “I took or did not take Encceja.” Think about which session was affected, for what reason, and what concrete harm occurred. That combination is what should be coherent in the request.
When the make-up tests will take place
The Edital provides for only one Encceja Nacional 2026 make-up administration. For elementary education, the new test will be on October 6, 2026. For secondary education, it will be on October 7, 2026.
The dates are set by education level, not chosen by the participant. Anyone whose request is approved should monitor the Página do Participante to check the request status and the information needed for the new administration.
Before submitting, make four checks
Confirm that the reason is actually covered by the Edital
First, identify whether the case is a listed infectious disease or a logistical problem connected to the administration that caused proven harm. Do not use the make-up process as if it were a generic absence justification.
Check the affected session
If the request is based on a logistical problem, mark only the period that was actually harmed. In the specific case of an occurrence only in the morning, remember that the rule was to take the afternoon test and request a make-up only for the morning session.
Review the document before submitting
If the request is based on illness, check the name, diagnosis or ICD-10 code, the professional's identification and registration, legibility, and the date covering August 23. Also verify the file format and size.
Only then finalize the request
Review everything before completing the process, because data and documents cannot be changed after submission. Then monitor approval or denial on the Página do Participante itself.
What most often causes errors
A frequent mistake is treating any setback as a “logistical problem.” The Edital uses this expression for situations linked to the conditions or execution of the administration, such as a natural disaster that compromises infrastructure, a power outage that impairs visibility, and a procedural error that causes proven harm. The concept should not automatically be expanded to every personal difficulty that occurred on test day.
Another mistake is confusing feeling unwell during the test with the infectious-disease situation. The former, by itself, does not qualify a participant for a make-up exam under item 13.6. The latter has its own rule, a list of diseases, and a documentation requirement.
It is also risky to submit quickly and plan to correct the request later. The Edital is clear that data and documents cannot be changed after submission. Therefore, the most important step is not clicking first: it is checking whether the reason, session, and documentation are coherent before finalizing the request.
In short: the decision depends on the reason, the session and the documentary proof
The Encceja 2026 make-up exam is an exception governed by the Edital, not a general second chance. The request can be submitted from August 24 to 28 through the Página do Participante and will be reviewed individually by Inep. Logistical problems must have caused proven harm; illnesses must be on the list in the Edital and be documented according to the applicable requirements.
If your situation qualifies, organize the request around three simple questions: what was the reason, which session was affected, and what proof or document supports the request. After checking these answers, submit within the deadline and monitor the result in the system. If approved, the make-up exam will be on October 6 for elementary education or October 7 for secondary education.
